Bryce Young 2024 Season Odds Count On Jump In Stats

Carolina QB Expected to Improve in Second NFL Season

After a rookie campaign that many termed as a disappointment, Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young is ready to make the next step in 2024. Young was the No. 1 overall pick of the 2023 NFL Draft and finished with 2,877 passing yards and 11 touchdowns in his first NFL campaign, but there were problems as well.

Still, with that experience under his belt, the Bryce Young 2024 Season Odds expect him to improve, and he’s hoping he can turn his stats and his team around quickly.

Young threw 10 interceptions as a rookie, averaging a league-worst 5.5 yards per completion. The Panthers were also bad on the scoreboard, finishing with the league’s worst record at 2-15.

But there is optimism around the organization that Young can turn it up and become the player that earned him the top pick status coming out of the University of Alabama. Let’s take a closer look at why many NFL predictions agree with that optimistic view.

Uncover Exclusive Picks & Predictions From Our Experts.

Young Growing Up Fast In NFL

The expectations are rising for Young, who will be 23 when the 2024 NFL season kicks off this fall. The initial odds for Young’s sophomore campaign set his passing numbers at 3,200.5 yards and 18.5 touchdowns.

The passing total had -110 odds on each side of the wager, while the touchdown total favored the over, which had -125 odds compared to -100 for the under.

The experience of 2023, as bad as it was, is only going to help Young be ready for the NFL in his second campaign. Other No. 1 overall picks at quarterback of late – Joe Burrow, Trevor Lawrence and Kyler Murray – all saw their passing numbers go up in their second season, and the Panthers are counting on that happening with Young.

Just having a full offseason of working and knowing what he needs to focus on compared to coming in as the top draft pick is going to give him that much more to build on when he takes the field.

New Coaches, New Personnel

As far as NFL free agents 2024 had to offer, there weren’t any playmakers that the Panthers wanted to target to help Young in his second season. But, the franchise did trade for Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Diontae Johnson, who should improve the team’s receiving corps.

Johnson was a Pro Bowler in 2021 and is coming off a season in which he had 51 receptions for 717 yards and five touchdowns. It’s his breakaway ability – he averaged 14.1 yards per catch – that could help stretch the field for the Panthers, which should help Young up his yardage stats.

Also joining the receiver room is first-round pick Xavier Legette out of South Carolina. Legette had a breakout season for the Gamecocks in 2023, finishing with 71 catches for 1,255 yards and seven touchdowns.

The upgrade at receiver should help Young open things up in the passing game rather than looking for checkdowns, which he did often in his rookie campaign. Young’s passing numbers should definitely go up, as the Panthers become a little more high-octane through the air.

Part of that shift will come with new head coach Dave Canales, who should help Young become more assertive. Canales spent last season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as offensive coordinator, resurrecting the career of Baker Mayfield, another former No. 1 pick. He also spent time with the Seattle Seahawks, getting some great numbers out of Geno Smith and Russell Wilson.

Young also has a solid veteran backup in Andy Dalton, who will help him learn quickly as he approaches his second season.

Increased Confidence Key To Young’s Development

The talk of offseason workouts around the Panthers was that Young is becoming more of a leader. Rather than being a shy rookie coming into his first NFL campaign, Young is learning that he’s got to be more vocal and lead his team.

That kind of confidence will also translate to the field, with Young being more confident in his teammates to make the big play. All signs are pointing to an upward movement of Young’s numbers, which is what the Panthers must have if they’re going to compete this season.

NFL scores today are higher and higher, so Carolina must have more out of their franchise quarterback. Young has the ability and will definitely grow physically and mentally from his rookie campaign.

The 2024 Bryce Young Season Odds are on to something, as we expect Young to surpass his totals in both passing yards and passing touchdowns as the Panthers become a more legitimate team in his second season.
