Can Zack Moss Put Up Career Numbers With Bengals?

2024 Zack Moss Season Odds: A Much Better Situation

The Cincinnati Bengals moved on from Joe Mixon and brought in Zack Moss to be the No. 1 running back this season.

Moss is headed into his 6th season in the NFL. He’ll also be playing for his third team in the NFL. However, he hasn’t played more than 14 games in a single season and has never earned more than 800 yards rushing in any season.

The Bengals are hoping Moss’s trajectory continues to improve from last season. Moss contributed a career-high 794 yards on 183 carries last year for the Colts. He was behind Jonathan Taylor to start the season, but an injury to Taylor opened up more playing time for Moss.

Moss took advantage and parlayed his success into a two-year contract worth $8 million with the Bengals.

That said, Moss will still have to compete for reps. Behind him on the depth chart is Chase Brown. Brown will enter his second season in the NFL after showing signs of development in his rookie season. Brown only saw 44 carries but earned 179 yards and grabbed 14 catches for another 156 yards.

Keep that in mind when looking at the 2024 Zack Moss Season odds.

Zack Moss’ Rushing Yards

  • 850.5 (O/U +115/-140)

Zack Moss’ rushing yards are set at 850.5. This is ultimately a number he’s never reached before. However, he’s with the Bengals after three seasons with the Bills and two other years with the Colts.

Moss was never No. 1 on the depth chart for any teams. His second-most carries in a season came in his rookie season. This new situation should help Moss be more productive. It’s the first time a team has signed him, thinking he’ll be the lead back.

Throughout his career, Moss has earned 4.3 yards per carry. If he continues that trend, he’d need more than 200 carries to reach 850 yards.

However, Joe Mixon added 257 carries with the Bengals and earned 1,034 yards. Mixon added the fifth-most carries in the NFL last season. But part of that was due to Burrow’s injuries. Had Burrow not been hurt most of the season, the Bengals might’ve thrown the ball more.

That said, Mixon has only rushed for 4.1 yards per carry throughout his career. Moss has put up better stats per carry than Mixon despite fewer opportunities. If you consider that, as long as Moss earns north of 200 carries, it’s very likely he’ll end up with more than 850 yards rushing this season.

Don’t expect Moss to break NFL records, but he’s in a good position this year.

Zack Moss’ Rushing Touchdowns

  • 6.5 Rushing Touchdowns (O/U -115/-105)

Again, we’ll return to what Joe Mixon did last season with the Bengals. Mixon earned nine rushing touchdowns and only had one game with more than one rushing touchdown during the season.

Moss was the go-to guy in eight games last year. In the other NFL matchups, he was the backup and got a handful of carries. That will change this year with his 2024 Zack Moss season odds.

But despite that, he ended up with five touchdowns and was tied for 24th in rushing touchdowns. However, he wasn’t even the starting running back for the Colts this season in half of the games.

Moss isn’t known for earning more yards per carry, but he’s good for medium gains down the field. He can wear down a defense and bully his way into the endzone. Plus, with Burrow’s injury history around the goalline, they’ll think about running a lot with Moss instead of putting Burrow at risk.

The 26-year-old is a key component for the Bengals NFL Super Bowl odds. Our NFL expert picks agree to back the Over for Moss’ rushing touchdowns at 6.5.

Zack Moss To Lead NFL In Rushing

  • NFL Rushing Yards Leader +4100

Moss will finally get an opportunity to be the main guy. Sure, Chase Brown will pressure him to perform, but Moss is the expected lead guy overall. He has the trust of the coaches and front office. That’s why they gave him the starting job in the first place.

However, he could shock some and have some big performances with the Colts last season. Moss only had two games with more than 19 rushes, which is concerning. But when he got 23+ rushes last season, he broke out for massive games.

With 30 carries against the Ravens, he added 122 yards. Against Tennessee, when he got 30 carries, he added 165 yards rushing. He is a legitimate breakout candidate with experience and can do big things when they call his name.

  • It’s doubtful Moss leads the league in rushing. But at +4100, maybe a couple of bucks on it would add to the fun of rooting on Moss this year.

We’re backing many Overs with the 2024 Zack Moss season odds.
