Cooper Kupp’s Stats For 2023: Injuries Threaten to Hamper His Production
Star Wide Receiver Has Trouble Staying Healthy

Cooper Kupp is not yet back. Fans will need to be patient as their superstar receiver suffered a minor injury during training camp. The Los Angeles Rams will be extra careful with Kupp and he might just miss most of the preseason. Still, the 30-year-old is just two years removed from one of the most dominant seasons by a receiver. But given his injury history, expectations for Cooper Kupp’s stats should be tempered.
Cooper Kupp in 2023
Returning to MVP Form? Hard to Count on It
Kupp put up a record-breaking 2021 NFL season. He won the Offensive Player of the Year Award as he caught 145 passes for 1,947 receiving yards, and 16 touchdowns. Regardless of how great Kupp is, it is unlikely that he puts up a season like this again. His previous highs were 94 receptions, 1,161 receiving yards, and 10 touchdowns.
There are many factors going against Kupp. The first is his injury-proneness. 2021 is the only season he’s played all games for the Rams. He’s already had a pair of knee injuries and then had a bad ankle sprain that took him out of 2022.
On top of that, Matthew Stafford, is also recovering from an elbow injury. Kupp’s quarterback had a poor showing last season and his 87.4 passer rating is his worst since his rookie season. If Stafford continues to be limited, don’t bank on Cooper Kupp’s stats to come close to what he did in 2021.
Cooper Kupp’s Player Profile & Stats
Kupp came to the Rams as a third-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. He initially did not start but still put up prolific stats with 62 receptions, 869 receiving yards, and five touchdowns. He outperformed starter Sammy Watkins and got to start when Robert Woods got hurt. The Rams, under Sean McVay’s first season, became NFL betting sensations as it went from “worst to first”. Kupp was an integral part of the turnaround.
Last Year’s Stats
Fantasy players were disappointed if they drafted Kupp first overall in 2022. Cooper Kupp’s stats declined this season thanks to injuries to both him and Stafford and the Rams’ difficult NFL schedule. But efficiency-wise, Kupp still performed admirably.

Kupp Remains a Top-Tier Wideout
The Rams are being faded by oddsmakers and are expected to finish third in the NFL division standings. Los Angeles traded away top cornerback Jalen Ramsey and lost plenty of key veterans. Stafford, Kupp, and superstar defender Aaron Donald are all coming back from injury. This NFL team could be in for another long season.
However, Kupp should still be considered one of the best wide receivers in the game. If Stafford can be, at least, 70% of what he was in 2021, Kupp will produce. They shouldn’t be counted out. The Rams may just rebound and outperform its unflattering preseason odds.
