Cowboys vs Eagles Betting Odds: Division Rivals Play for Keeps

Finally, An NFC East Game Worth Watching!

We rarely get to enjoy a relevant and exciting NFC East matchup. The NFL always forces this division on national TV regardless of how bad it has been for the past decade. But finally, we have a matchup between two teams who could just be Super Bowl contenders: the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles. While the Cowboys vs Eagles betting odds favor the latter, Dallas has been on a roll and could just make this an intense game.

Cowboys’ Defense is the Real Deal

“We’re the best f—ing defense in the league, point-blank, period,” edge rusher Demarcus Lawrence, who has 3.0 sacks, exclaimed. “Going out each and every week and setting that tone, being able to instill fear into the other offense, going out there with that speed and that intensity, that’s what we’re all about.”

The Dallas Cowboys are undefeated with Cooper Rush as the quarterback. The ‘boys upset Cincinnati, the Giants, and the Rams, and have become one of the most profitable NFL teams this season. Dallas is 4-0 against the spread (ATS). But it’s not Rush who’s the star but Dan Quinn and his defense, which has the makings of an all-time great unit.

The Cowboys are third in scoring defense (14.4 points) thanks to its monstrous pass rush. Micah Parsons is making a strong case to be the Defensive Player of the Year as he’s terrorized quarterbacks all season. He leads the league with 6.0 sacks and has 12 quarterback hits and seven tackles-for-loss. The defense leads the NFL in pressure rate (33.6 percent) and is in the top three in quarterback knockdown percentage (15.1 percent) and sacks (20).

Ignore the NFL injury report Week 6 with Parsons listed on it. Dallas will need him for this game as the Cowboys deal with the Eagles’ vaunted offensive line. Rush will also face a bloodthirsty defense. So Dallas’s offensive line, which is a bit banged up, will need to hold just long enough to give him a chance. But so long as the defense continues on its warpath, Dallas may just upset the Cowboys vs Eagles betting odds.

Hurts Needs to Deliver Against Cowboys

The Eagles are the only undefeated NFL team this season. While this is surprising to many, the sportsbook has had Philadelphia as a favorite in all of its games. Jalen Hurts is balling in his second full season as the team’s starting quarterback. But to many, he hasn’t proven anything yet… until he’s beaten Dallas this Sunday night.

“You’re talking about a division opponent rolling into town, into your building, with a backup quarterback,” Chris Canty, a former NFL defensive end for both Dallas and the New York Giants said on Get Up.  “You better win this game. You need to produce in this game. Because ultimately, it’s going to come down to, ‘Can you beat the Dallas Cowboys? Can you beat the New York Giants? Can you beat the Washington Commanders? Can you win the division and give us a clear path to the postseason each and every year?”

Hurts is on pace to outdo his 2021 stats. Most notably, he’s improved immensely as a passer with his rating at 97.4 from 87.2 last year. He, like the Eagles’ potent rushing game, owe their success to the offensive line.

The Eagles have the best o-line in the NFL led by All-Pros in center Jason Kelce and right tackle Lane Johnson. This unit has shut down some of the better defensive lines in the NFL. But Washington and Jacksonville are not Dallas. The added pressure is also thanks to the Cowboys vs Eagles betting odds, which favor Philadelphia by six points.

Hurts will also have to deliver in the clutch if this game was to be close. The stats may be misleading, but Hurts’ passer rating is at its worst in the fourth quarter: 53.1 He has zero touchdowns here as well although he has a game-winning drive. The Eagles may be 5-0, but Hurts needs to win this game.
