Eagles vs Cardinals Betting Odds: Bird Battle Leads Week 5 Late Afternoon

NFC West Featured In Late Afternoon Triple-Header

After four weeks, there remains only one unbeaten NFL team: the Philadelphia Eagles. Led by quarterback Jalen Hurts, the Eagles now head to Glendale looking to keep their perfect record intact. In their way will be Kyler Murray and his Arizona Cardinals. The Eagles vs Cardinals betting odds favor the visiting team. But Arizona has won five straight home games against Philadelphia. They lead the late afternoon slate of NFL games, which begin at 4:05 p.m. ET this Sunday and feature NFC West teams.

Despite Team Names, Game to Be Decided on the Ground

It got a bit ugly last week but Hurts and the Eagles put down the visiting Jaguars. Playing through a thunderstorm, the Eagles’ defense forced Trevor Lawrence to commit five turnovers – four via fumbling. The Eagles improved to 7-3-1 against the spread (ATS) as a favorite under head coach Nick Sirianni.

Arizona has been an underdog through this year, the team is just 3-7 going back to the previous season.

On the flip side, Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury could find himself in the hot seat if the team continues its inconsistency. Even if Arizona has been an underdog through this year, the team is just 3-7 going back to the previous season. The Cardinals have also failed to cover in its last seven home games.

Kingsbury will be under more scrutiny alongside his quarterback, Murray. The team inked Murray to a 5-year $230-million dollar contract. So far, Murray has been mediocre. That won’t cut it as the upper brass saw what this team was capable of in the first half of the 2021 season. If Arizona can find that form, it will be a sharp underdog bet via the Eagles vs Cardinals betting odds.

Otherwise, the Eagles will roll into the State Farm Stadium and smash the Eagles vs Cardinals betting odds. This team ran all over Jacksonville’s top-ranked defense, gashing them for 210 yards. Philadelphia has the fifth-most rushing yards and the most rushing touchdowns. Arizona has not allowed more than 100 rushing yards since Week 2.

San Francisco 49ers vs Carolina Panthers

Embattled Quarterbacks Face Fearsome Defenses

Speaking of scrutinized quarterbacks and coaches, Carolina has a pair. Baker Mayfield has looked like the worst quarterback in the league through four weeks. He’s completed fewer than half of his passes in two games and was so bad in Week 4 that his own team’s fans booed him off the field. His coach, Matt Rhule, is unlikely to make it through the season if the team continues to underperform.

The 49ers are in a better place as they look to move up the NFL standing for Week 5 but this team is still just 2-2. Jimmy Garoppolo remains polarizing as a quarterback though he did lead San Francisco to an easy win over the Rams. Kyle Shanahan has San Francisco as a profitable team when betting online: 7-1 ATS in its last eight games.

But in his sixth season, Shanahan’s 49ers are just 18-26-1 ATS as a favorite. The offense is still hit-and-miss. A lot of it falls on Garoppolo’s limited abilities as a quarterback. Thankfully, San Francisco is anchored by an elite defense. Go figure that San Francisco’s last five road games have gone under.

Dallas Cowboys vs Los Angeles Rams

Can Rush Keep Cowboys Rolling While Rams Struggle?

While the Cardinals, 49ers, and Rams struggle to stay consistent, Cooper Rush has the Dallas Cowboys rolling. The backup quarterback has not lost a game since he started in Week 2. Dallas also covered these three games. Say what you want about Mike McCarthy and the ‘boys’ playoff struggles. But he’s been golden in the regular season.

Since last season, Dallas has had the best cover rate in the NFL at 72.7 percent (16-6-0 ATS). As an underdog, Dallas is 5-2-0 ATS. Like its historic rival, San Francisco, Dallas is anchored by a top-tier defense. Through four weeks, Dallas has not allowed an opponent to hit the 20-point plateau. This team held Tom Brady and Joe Burrow to a combined 36 points.

As long as Dallas’s defense keeps it up, Rush won’t have to do much. He’s thrown for four touchdowns with no turnovers. Meanwhile, Matthew Stafford has been error-prone this season. His six interceptions lead the NFL and his 81.4 passer rating is his lowest since 2012. The disparity in QB play is why these teams are surprising on the NFL schedule for 2022.
