How Will Carolina Respond Without Frank Reich On The Sideline?

Take a Look at The Panthers vs Buccaneers Highlights Leading Into Sunday's Game

Former head coach Frank Reich lasted just 11 games with the Carolina Panthers. He was hired in the off-season and fired in the middle of the season earlier this week, making his stay in Carolina one of the quickest in NFL history.

The Panthers have named Chris Tabor as the interim head coach as they look to move forward without Reich.

They’ll take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who are just 4-7 on the year.

While Carolina has lost four of its last four games, so have the Buccaneers. Tampa Bay just dropped a road game to the Colts, 27-20. However, the Buccaneers have played four of their last five games on the road. Those four games were losses, and the lone win was at home.

Tampa Bay is home for this matchup.

With that said, the Panthers are expected to keep this game close. Carolina is a 5.5-point underdog, with the total sitting at 36.5 points for this game.

Can Carolina earn a win with Tabor in charge?

We’ll look at the Panthers vs Buccaneers highlights for this NFC battle.

Bears vs Vikings Spreads & Trends

The Panthers are just as bad against the spread as they are straight up. Carolina has gone 1-8-2 against the spread this season, with the lone win coming against the Texans at home as 3.5 underdogs. The Panthers won that game straight up for their only win of the season.

Meanwhile, the total has hit the Under in eight of 11 games in Carolina games, along with Tampa Bay games.

The Buccaneers have still performed better against the spread this season, going 7-4. However, the Buccaneers watched a four-game cover streak come to an end in their last game against the Colts.

Tampa Bay has defeated the Panthers in five of the last six meetings. The Buccaneers also covered against the spread in those five wins.

Uncover Exclusive Picks & Predictions From Our Experts.

Should The Panthers Have Selected Bryce Young

The talk of the town is about whether or not the Panthers should’ve selected Bryce Young with the first overall selection in the most recent NFL Draft.

Young hasn’t performed well to begin the season, earning just 1,877 yards passing with nine touchdowns and eight interceptions. The player drafted after Young, C.J. Stroud, currently has the Texans playing for a playoff spot.

Stroud is the Rookie of the Year favorite and also in the conversation for the MVP.

But we don’t know this for sure. However, the Texans would have likely selected Young first overall if they were drafting first. In hindsight, teams will get lucky with players falling into their lap.

Young has a lot of potential. It’s on the Carolina front office to get the right coaches and systems in place for Young and the Panthers to be successful.

Is Todd Bowles Next?

The Buccaneers are 4-7 with four losses in their last five games. The Bucs are spiraling. The radio announcers for Tampa Bay have said it’s hard to watch the Buccaneers right now.

Therefore, we might see a coaching change soon.

The decline for the Buccaneers was inevitable once Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski retired. But earlier this season, Tampa Bay showed promise. But that promise is far from gone now.

Tampa Bay’s Finally Home!

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have lost four straight games on the road. However, their last home game resulted in a win against the Titans, 20-6.

It’s been a long month for Tampa Bay on the road. However, this home game should help the Buccaneers get back on track, especially against the Panthers.

The Panthers have only scored 15.73 points per game while allowing 26.55 points per game. The offense hasn’t impressed, and the defense has looked awful against the run, thanks to countless missed tackles every game.

Carolina’s passing defense has improved over the year. However, despite their struggles this year, Tampa Bay will be in good shape if the Buccaneers can commit to the run.

Meanwhile, the Buccaneers aren’t getting much help from their defense. Tampa Bay’s defense has allowed over 265 yards in the air and another 95 yards on the ground.

The secondary has only performed well enough because of a reliable pass rush. Meanwhile, despite only giving up 95.91 yards per game, the run defense isn’t good at all.

Still, Carolina’s offense hasn’t adapted this year. The Panthers have added under 175 yards passing and only 92.64 yards on the ground. They’ve got two running backs who have underperformed between Chubba Hubbard and Miles Sanders and don’t have a real No. 1 receiver for Young.

The front office failed Young. They made Adam Thielen the No. 1 receiver for Carolina’s offense. The Vikings didn’t even want Thielen as a No. 2 receiver after last season. While Thielen’s put together a quality season with 77 catches and 728 yards, he just came off a one-catch performance against the Colts.

We’ll wait and see what the Panthers change for this game against the Buccaneers. However, our NFL predictions include the Panthers losing another game on Sunday. The Panthers are at the bottom of the NFL divisional standings in the NFC South but won’t even have the chance to draft a player in next year’s NFL Draft at the No. 1 spot because they traded it away for Young.

The Panthers must figure out these game-to-game NFL matchups with what they’ve got. There won’t be many Panthers vs Buccaneers highlights, but there will be more to see out of the Buccaneers. Take Tampa Bay at -5.5 (-110).
