Los Angeles Rams 2023 Future Odds: Super Bowl, Conference, Division, Regular Season Wins and Player Props

Former Champs Leaning on Rebuilding

The Los Angeles Rams are either going to bounce back or flounder like last year. It all depends on how the team transitions from a Super Bowl contender to a rebuilding team. The NFL odds lean on the latter as the 2023 Los Angeles Rams stats may be one of the worst this season. But as long as their “Big Three” stars are healthy, the Rams can’t be the worst team.

Rams Could “Blow It Up” For 2023

The best-case scenario for the Rams in 2023 is for their stars to stay healthy and their new young players to quickly adapt. If that happens, the Rams could be a sneaky good bet to climb up the NFL standings. But their outright odds only keep lengthening and there are plenty of rumors that general manager Les Snead is trying to move some of his stars.

If that’s the case, the Rams may even finish around their projected 6.5 regular-season win total. Either that or quarterback Matthew Stafford shows his age and is a shell of himself while superstar receiver Cooper Kupp can’t stay healthy. This happened last season hence why the Rams struggled and won just five games, less than half of their 10.5 projection.

Los Angeles also failed to improve in the offseason thanks to having little room with its salary cap. As such, it barely added veteran help and had to trade away star cornerback Jalen Ramsey. The special teams is also in shambles and the Rams are not even settled with their kicker.

On defense, Aaron Donald returns and will still be a Pro Bowl-caliber stopper up front. However, he’s already 32 and coming off an injury. At some point, his play might falter and it will leave the defense in a tough spot.

Last season, the Rams’ defense finished 21st in scoring and the offense finished 27th. These were the worst marks under Sean McVay, who returns to the team despite speculation he wouldn’t.

Super Bowl Odds: No Longer a Contender

The Rams put everything they had to win the Super Bowl in 2022. And now, just a year and a half later, the team is closer to finishing last than winning another title. Los Angeles went from 30-1 to 80-1 to win the SB. That’s thanks to the team not doing much in the offseason as the rest of the conference made some improvements.

Los Angeles is now a few tiers below the top contenders of the NFC. Philadelphia, San Francisco, and Dallas are deeper with much more talent while even Detroit and the NFC South winner could have better odds than the Rams. The 2022 champs can’t be counted out entirely, but its days as a contender may be past.

Conference Odds: Worst Team in the NFC?

Now at 33-1 to win the NFC and return to the Super Bowl, the only two teams the Rams are favored over are Tampa Bay and Arizona. Both are expected to “contend” for the first overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. So it’s not crazy to assume that the Rams might even be tied as the worst team in the NFC.

Los Angeles is one injury away from one of its three stars to “tanking”. That could be Stafford or Kupp. And even if others put up lofty NFL player stats, the Rams do not have the depth or experience to keep up with the best teams in the conference.

Division Odds: Battling Arizona at the Bottom

When the preseason odds for 2023 opened, Los Angeles was a distant second to winning the division. But now, the Rams are a long shot at best. Even the Seahawks have better odds now. The 2023 Los Angeles Rams stats will be among the worst and if Arizona was not in the division, Los Angeles may even be favored to finish last.

But even if the Rams prove their long odds wrong, it will be tough for them to beat out San Francisco at the top. Kyle Shanahan has also consistently beaten McVay in the regular season. So unless the 49ers are plagued by injuries and the Seahawks become much worse than in 2022, the Rams will be in third place.

Regular Season Wins: Totals Trending Down

Of the 2023 Los Angeles Rams stats, its regular-season win totals are decreasing. The team won just five games last season and the combined record of the teams they beat was 29-56. It lost to every winning team it played and in most cases, L.A. got blown out. And the 2023 schedule gives the Rams no breaks.

Los Angeles plays the NFC East and the AFC North, two potent conferences that each had three winning teams in 2022. On top of that, the Rams play the 49ers and Seahawks twice each. Both swept them last season. Indeed, there may only be five or six games where the Rams are favored to win. And the team was just 2-9 as an underdog in 2022.

To Make Playoffs: Maybe Next Year

Despite all the skeptical analysis on this team, making the playoffs in the NFC is not as difficult as the AFC. Other than the likes of Philadelphia, San Francisco, and maybe Dallas, the rest of the NFC’s playoff picture is malleable. As such, the Rams are +275 to make the playoffs.

It is possible for the Rams to sneak in the final wild-card spot with just nine or eight wins. Of course, many things will have to break in favor of Los Angeles. It’s more realistic to expect this team to be in the bottom three in the NFC.

Side Bets: Fading the Rams

The Rams are on shaky ground and there are more ways for this team to “tank” than to go on another run. Stafford may be “washed” given his elbow injury and age while Donald is also getting old. And as great as Kupp is, he won’t be able to do a lot when it’s either Brett Rypien or rookie Stetson Bennett missing him on throws.

The odds had Los Angeles at 10-1 to finish last in the league. That’s not a bad bet as this team could just bottom out and take USC star Caleb Williams to be its quarterback of the future. The Rams management may already be secretly planning this. So it shouldn’t be a shocker if the Rams trade or cut Donald and/or Stafford soon.
