MNF Week 2 Odds Report: Time For Revenge
Buffalo and Philly Seek Vengeance Against Non-Traditional Rivals
A rare double-header for Monday Night Football awaits. This features two unlikely rivalries as the Buffalo Bills host the Tennessee Titans in the earlier game on ESPN while the Philadelphia Eagles welcome the Minnesota Vikings on ABC. As per the ‘MNF’ Week 2 odds report, the home teams are favored even when they’re on losing streaks against their respective opponents. But if the lines prove accurate, revenge will be exacted.
Tennessee Titans vs Buffalo Bills
Bills Look to Deliver as Favorites Against Titans
The Titans and Bills are 2-2 against each other with Derrick Henry and Josh Allen for the respective teams. The underdog has won in each of these NFL matchups and the most notable ones are from Tennessee upsetting Buffalo. The Titans blew out Buffalo by 28 points in 2021, which has been the Bills’ largest defeat these last two seasons. Henry helped expose the Bills’ weakness to a potent running game.
However, “King Henry” is still on the mend as he recovers from the NFL injury report that took him out for most of last season. He was not much of a factor in Tennessee’s Week 1 loss against the Giants as he averaged 3.9 yards per carry and coughed up the ball. The Bills, on the other hand, whipped the defending Super Bowl Champions in their own stadium. This would explain the 10- NFL point spread on Buffalo per the MNF Week 2 odds report.
Bills as the team has been weak to the AFC South: only 1-6 against the spread (ATS) in their last seven games against them. Tennessee has also covered six of the last nine times they faced Buffalo.
It’s hard to argue against how the Bills have looked as the Super Bowl favorites. Tennessee is also with a new wide receiver group and their two best offensive linemen moved to Buffalo. But if the Titans can somehow find a way to extend its winning streak against Buffalo, they will be one of the best plays on Monday Night Football.
Minnesota Vikings vs Philadelphia Eagles
Vikings, and Eagles Both Rising
Over to the NFC, the Vikings and Eagles rekindle their rivalry after two years. Minnesota has beaten Philadelphia in their last two meetings. In fact, the Vikings have covered in four of the last six times they’ve faced the Eagles. But this is a new regime for both franchises and they are off to great starts this season.
Minnesota defeated its archnemesis, Green Bay, by limiting the mighty Aaron Rodgers to just 195 passing yards and zero touchdowns. On their end, Justin Jefferson emerged as a superstar receiver with 184 yards and two touchdowns. It’s just one game, but Kevin O’Connell’s coaching seems to have lit a fire within the Vikings.
On Philadelphia’s part, it handled business against Detroit but failed to cover thanks to allowing two pointless touchdowns in the fourth. Still, the Eagles rushed the ball with impunity while Jalen Hurts was decent enough as the man under center. With Dallas losing Dak Prescott, the NFC East is Philadelphia’s to lose as they are favored to go up 2-0 on the NFL Week 2 standings.
As a home favorite under Nick Sirianni, the Eagles are 2-0-1 ATS. The Vikings are 9-12-1 ATS while playing as a road underdog with Kirk Cousins as their quarterback. It’s also worth noting that the total has gone under in five of the last six games of Philadelphia hosting Minnesota. But with electric offenses, they could buck this MNF Week 2 odds report.
