NFL Draft Odds: Plenty of Movement Among Landing Spots, Top 10 NFL Draft

After Carolina Makes No. 1 Pick, Things Could Go off Rails Quickly in NFL Draft

Georgia and Alabama Players Could be Popular Early On In the 2023 NFL Draft

After months of speculation, rumor spreading and mock draft madness, the NFL Draft is finally upon us with the first round being held on Thursday night. There has been movement in the NFL Draft odds on a daily basis.

The Carolina Panthers paid a steep price to move up from ninth to first and all signs point to Carolina making former Alabama quarterback Bryce Young the first selection.

After that things will get interesting. Six of the top 10 picks have already changed hands. Will there be more wheeling and dealing in the top 10?

The Houston Texans and Detroit Lions each have two picks in the top 20. Miami lost its No. 1 pick for violating the NFL’s anti-tampering regulations due to its pursuit of quarterback Tom Brady and head coach Sean Payton.

Here’s a look at the latest odds for the top 10 picks.

Young Ready to Growl

Bryce Young’s odds to be the No. 1 pick have moved from -1000 to -2000 with the price for Kentucky quarterback Will Levis going from +450 to +750 overnight according to the NFL Draft odds.

Young threw 80 touchdown passes and just 12 interceptions during his time at Alabama and also can make plays with his legs. He is set to become the face of the Panthers franchise.

The bad news is that star running back Christian McCaffrey and receiver D.J. Moore now play for other teams so how much talent will Young have to work with when he arrives in Carolina?

Anderson Moving Up

Levis and Texas Tech edge rusher Tyree Wilson have been getting plenty of love as a choice at No. 2. Now things are back to where they started when it comes to the NFL Draft odds with Alabama edge rusher Will Anderson priced at -325 to be the second overall pick and head to Houston. He was recently priced at +275 with Wilson coming in at +125.

Levis and Wilson both come in at +325. With the No. 12 pick, going with a quarterback later in the draft is a possibility.

Making Trip to Paris?

Ohio State offensive tackle Paris Johnson Jr. made a late move to be the front-runner to go third overall and he is holding steady as the top choice. This pick, currently held by the Arizona Cardinals, could be heading elsewhere and having Johnson priced at +200 to be the selection is consistent with reports that teams might be willing to move up in the quest for an offensive lineman. He made a slight move from +250 in the last 24 hours.

Anderson comes in at +225 so if the Texans pass on the Alabama star, he is another solid choice as is Wilson at +275.

The fact that Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud has +450 odds is an indication that there could be a team willing to move up for a QB.

Passing Grade For Colts?

One of the things viewed as a possible sure thing is that the Indianapolis Colts will take a quarterback with its first-round pick. It is interesting that Levis and Stroud are now tied at +125 to be that quarterback of the future for a team that once had Peyton Manning and then Andrew Luck leading the offense. Stroud was priced at +200 to be the Colts’ pick earlier this week.

Florida’s Anthony Richardson checks in at +375. His workouts have some teams intrigued despite his spotty track record as a college quarterback.

Carter Could Land in Seattle

There was a time when Georgia defensive lineman Jalen Carter was viewed as the best prospect among the players in the NFL draft. Being involved in a crash that claimed the lives of a former teammate and recruiting analyst at Georgia combined with some so-so workouts have sent Carter’s draft stock in the wrong direction.

Seattle coach Pete Carroll is not shy about taking chances on players with questions off the field so seeing Carter with -250 odds to be selected fifth overall isn’t that surprising. He had even odds to go at No. 5 just 24 hours ago.

Anderson (+275), Wilson (+275) and Richardson (+375) are other top options.

Cornering the Market

Other than Young landing in Carolina, the other constant projection in recent days and weeks has Illinois cornerback Devon Witherspoon being selected by the Detroit Lions with the sixth pick.

He’s at -135 to be the pick with the closest competitor being Carter at +375 if he happens to slip by Seattle at No. 5. Witherspoon’s odds remain unchanged.

What Happens in Vegas …

So what will the Las Vegas Raiders do at No. 7? Your guess is as good as anybody else’s.

There are five players with NFL Draft betting odds ranging from +250 to +600.

It goes from cornerback with Oregon’s Christian Gonzalez and Witherspoon at +250 and +400 to the offensive line with Johnson (+375) and Northwestern’s Peter Skoronski (+600) to quarterback with Stroud at +350, Levis at +900 and Richardson not far back at +1000 to Wilson being priced at +900 if the Raiders want to add an impact player in the interior of the defensive line.

Gonzalez and Johnson had +275 odds and Witherspoon came in at +300 to land in this spot earlier this week.

The Raiders have also been mentioned as a possible pick to trade up in the draft.

Hitting the Ground Running

The Atlanta Falcons got one of the steals in last year’s draft as fifth-round pick Tyler Allgeier running for more than 1,000 yards. That hasn’t stopped the speculation that the Falcons could pick Texas running back Bijan Robinson at No. 8. He is priced at +150 to be that pick after being listed at +200 on Wednesday.

The Falcons could also go with Georgia’s Nolan Smith or Iowa’s Lukas Van Ness to help out a pass rush that only registered 9.5 sacks from defensive linemen in 2002. They both come in at +375.

The Wright Stuff?

Chicago traded back from No. 1 to No. 9 and it was a clear stamp of approval to young quarterback Justin Fields.

Along with multiple draft picks, including No. 9 overall, the Bears landed receiver D.J. Moore in the deal with Carolina. Now it could be time to address the offensive line.

Fast-rising prospect Darnell Wright, an offensive tackle out of Tennessee, is the current front-runner with +225 odds followed by Johnson (+350) and Skoronski (+375). Wright was tied with Carter at +275 not too long ago.

If Carter slips to No. 9, he is another strong possibility at +400. Robinson (+450) and Georgia offensive lineman Broderick Jones (+500) are also worth keeping an eye on.

It’s What’s Upfront That Counts

Fresh off a run to the Super Bowl and thanks to a trade in 2022 with New Orleans, the Philadelphia Eagles have the 10th pick.

Based on the odds, the Eagles could look to upgrade either the offensive or defensive lines.

Skoronski (+250), Johnson (+300) and Jones (+800) are the top options if Philadelphia seeks to offer help to quarterback Jalen Hurts. If the Eagles choose to get defensive, Smith (+475), Carter (+550) and Van Ness (+600) could be options. There was no movement in the odds in the last 24 hours.

Robinson is coming in at +650 and opposing defensive coordinators will not be happy if that happens as a backfield with Hurts and Robinson could be a nightmare to deal with.
