NFL Odds Week 15 Preview: The Jekyll-and-Hyde Experience on CBS
CBS Features Ugly Double-Header This Early Sunday

NFL Odds Have a Blowout and a Low-Scoring Slog
It’s slim pickings for CBS’s slate of early Sunday NFL Odds Week 15. A pair of NFL Games features a potential blowout-in-the-making as Kansas City visits Houston while Pittsburgh takes on Carolina. The former is the widest spread of this NFL week 15, at 14 points for KC while the latter is a low-scoring affair as it is the second-lowest total of the day at 37.5 points. These could be some chaotic games so be prepared.
Kansas City Chiefs (10-3) vs Houston Texans (1-11-1)

Can Houston Make Another Contender Sweat?
Houston Texans has just one win this year. But the team made the Dallas Cowboys sweat as a 17-point underdog and it also covered against Philadelphia at +14. The Texans are 8-4-0 against the spread (ATS) when given double-digit spreads since 2021. The team may keep losing, but it is not laying down for anyone. And Kansas City has struggled on the NFL point spreads.
The Chiefs are just 4-8-1 ATS this NFL Season. This team is still winning most games comfortably but some have gone down to the wire. They beat the Chargers and Titans by a field goal and the Raiders by a point. Against Denver last week, Kansas City let them put up garbage points much to their backers’ chagrin.
But in recent games against Houston, the Chiefs have covered emphatically. Kansas City covered its 9.5 and 10-point spreads in its last two NFL Games against the Texans. And Mahomes didn’t even play one game.
Houston is also banged up heading to this game. Their top running back, Dameon Pierce (ankle) is out. Wide receiver Brandin Cooks (calf) is doubtful. And both of their cornerbacks, namely star rookie Derek Stingley Jr. (hamstring) are questionable. The Texans allow the fewest passing touchdowns (11) but the injuries may be too much to overcome, hence their NFL Odds Week 15.
Pittsburgh Steelers (5-8) vs Carolina Panthers (5-8)
Location: Bank of America Stadium, Charlotte
Date & Time: Sunday, December 18th, 1:00PM ET

Panthers Claw for Playoffs as Picket-less Steelers Visit
Believe it or not, the Panthers still have a shot at winning the division. Thanks to the Buccaneers’ loss last week, Carolina can move into a tie with a win and another Bucs loss. Both teams even have identical point differentials (-30). Now, Carolina can’t blow this game against Pittsburgh even if they are only favored by 2.5 points.
The Panthers are 4-4 and 6-2 ATS since Steve Wilks took over as coach.
Even without Christian McCaffrey, the Panthers have run the ball prolifically. Carolina has averaged 146.9 rushing yards, which puts them at seventh and above teams like Dallas and San Francisco.
However, Carolina’s success is also dependent on the run. When that gets neutralized, Carolina loses. The Panthers are 0-6 when they fail to hit the 100-yard mark on the ground. The Steelers are a middle-of-the-pack rushing defense (115.7). This one comes down to how well Carolina’s O-line can open holes against Pittsburgh’s front seven.
Either way, this game will be dictated heavily by “smashmouth” football. It may look more like an early 2000s game hence the totals on the NFL Odds Week 15. Mitchell Trubisky got picked off three times in his relief of Kenny Pickett (concussion), who is a part of the more notable NFL injuries Week 15. Trubisky is 1-3 as a starter this NFL season.
