NFL Week 12 Preseason Preview: 49ers vs GB Rematch

The 12th week of the 2024 NFL season brings a playoff rematch between Green Bay and San Francisco. It’s one of the few big games this week due to six teams having a bye week.

Among NFL teams on bye are Buffalo, Cincinnati, and the New York Jets. That removes a few opportunities for marquee games, but bettors will make do with the games on the slate.

The NFL Week 12 preseason preview will take an early look at all the games on the NFL schedule.

Steelers vs Browns

This isn’t the worst of the NFL Week 12 matchups to kick off the week. The Steelers had a tough division game with the Ravens last week. Cleveland played New Orleans.

This is the first of two meetings between the teams. The Browns and Steelers have split the last four meetings.

The spread might be a little tight, but it’s not a terrible number for the summer point spreads. Cleveland should have a better team, although Pittsburgh upgraded its quarterback position.

The NFL playoff predictor favors Cleveland more than Pittsburgh, but these are the games the Browns need to win to make it. It could be a decent battle, but the under looks to offer the most value.

Buccaneers vs Giants

The NFL Week 12 odds aren’t giving respect to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers here, as Tampa Bay is favored by just one.

The Bucs should be able to give Atlanta a battle in the NFC South, while the Giants look to be headed for another long season. If Tampa Bay challenges for the division, it needs to win games like this.

When a win is possible the Bucs have to take advantage. Tampa Bay was only a road favorite once last season and covered against Carolina. The Bucs get the early lean here.

Lions vs Colts

The NFL Week 12 preseason preview has a decent game here, as the Lions visit the Colts. If Anthony Richardson is playing well, the spread will be close to this at game time, if he struggles, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Detroit favored by 4 points or more.

If Detroit has a weakness, it’s the defense, so this one may turn into a shootout. The Lions were 6-3 last season in totals when the over/under was at least 48 points.

Indianapolis will have to do its job to score, but the NFL Week 12 over/under bet here looks to be the over.

Titans vs Texans

The Titans visit the Texans for an early Sunday game and the NFL Las Vegas odds have the Texans favored by 6.

This is the first meeting between the two teams, who close out the regular season against one another. Houston is coming off a big Monday night game with Dallas and has a key division game with Jacksonville up next.

This isn’t the best of spots for the Texans. The Titans parted with a few veterans and are gearing up for the future. Tennessee doesn’t appear to be designed to score a lot, so the under is worth a look in this spot.

Chiefs vs Panthers

Kansas City is going to be a popular NFL Week 12 expert picks release and the Chiefs will also be used in a lot of teasers.

The Chiefs are coming off a big game with Buffalo and have a Friday game with the Raiders on tap. Kansas City could have a bit of a letdown here.

The Panthers are going to be motivated to give a good performance. The question is if they have the talent to do that. This line seems a bit shot based on what transpired last year.

Carolina should be a better team, but it’s not easy to pull the trigger with the current line.

Patriots vs Dolphins

The Dolphins will be another popular choice this week, both in the NFL free picks and in the NFL Week 12 confidence picks. Miami played Las Vegas last week, so it should be focused on this division game.

Miami has a short week coming up, playing Green Bay on Thursday. New England’s first concern is getting better than last season – not a high bar.

You can’t score 13.9 points per game and expect to win much. The defense wasn’t that bad allowing 20.5 points.

If the offense had done a little more the Pats would have allowed under 20 points a game. The under is still the way to go in this one.

Vikings vs Bears

A somewhat decent game here, provided the Vikings catch a few breaks that eluded them in 2023. There’s a good chance we’ll see two rookie quarterbacks in this one and both have a few offensive weapons.

Justin Jefferson is the best of the bunch and Minnesota’s defense wasn’t all that bad last season. It should be even better this season, but it may need to be.

The NFL score predictions are calling it 24-21 in favor of the Bears. An upset wouldn’t be a huge surprise here and would lean to the Vikings in the NFL Week 12 spread picks.

Cowboys vs Commanders

The NFL Week 12 preseason preview shows a tough spot for Dallas, which is coming off the Monday night game with Houston. The Cowboys then return home for their traditional Thanksgiving game.

The visiting team is the Giants, who figure to be down, but there is still a bit of a rivalry. The Commanders will be ready to give the Cowboys a good game and the likelihood of that depends if Jayden Daniels can stay healthy.

He’s unlikely to step in and hit his passes right away, but he can make things happen. The NFL Week 12 betting lines are where you would expect, so there’s not much in the way of value.

Broncos vs Raiders

A pair of division rivals are meeting for the second time this season, where the Raiders are just favored by 3. The results of the first game could have an impact on this game.

It’s a little easier to take Las Vegas as one of your NFL Week 12 favorites if the Broncos win the first game. Neither team is good enough to look ahead or suffer a letdown, but it does happen.

Las Vegas is coming off the Dolphins and has Kansas City up next, so the Raiders could be a little flat. Right now, you can make a case for Denver, depending on the outcome of the team’s game in October.

49ers vs Packers

This is one is probably the biggest game of the weekend, as the 49ers visit Green Bay. It’s a revenge game for Green Bay, but the line is a shade lower than expected.

With the line at 49ers -2.5, the Packers will find their way into some NFL Week 12 bets in teasers. That makes a little bit of sense here.

The 49ers won a hard-fought game in the playoffs and this one could turn out to be pretty close. That makes the Packers a little more enticing in a teaser.

Cardinals vs Seahawks

It’s surprising to see Seattle favored by just three points here. Arizona didn’t get much respect in the NFL odds for 2024, but they’re getting a bit here.

Kyler Murray and Marvin Harrison Jr. will get all of the attention, but the Arizona defense will determine the team’s fate this season.

The Seahawks have fared well under Geno Smith, although he’s been busy learning a new offense. If Seattle picks it up and has success, they could be a little more dangerous on offense.

The Seahawks weren’t very good defensively last year. The over could be a decent play against the NFL Week 12 betting lines.

Eagles vs Rams

This one could turn out to be a pretty decent contest. The NFL Week 12 odds 2024 have the Rams are the slimmest of favorites.

Philadelphia does get a few extra days to prepare for the game, having played Washington last Thursday. The Eagles have Baltimore up next, but this isn’t a game Philadelphia can overlook.

Los Angeles figures to be a decent team this season and should be fighting for a playoff berth. The Rams were 5-3 straight-up and against the spread at home last year. Los Angeles looks to be the way to go in this one.

Ravens vs Chargers

The week closes out with a “Harbaugh Bowl” as head coaches John and Jim pit their Ravens and Chargers, respectively. The Ravens visit the “other” Los Angeles team, the Chargers. Baltimore is favored by three points, which sounds about right.

The Ravens are coming off Pittsburgh and play Philadelphia next but should be caught taking the Chargers lightly. The Chargers have to stay healthy this year and that should make a difference in the NFL standings.

The NFL Week 12 odds and predictions think the over 47 offers some value here if Herbert is playing the way he’s capable of.
