NFL Week 13 Preseason Preview: Trio of Thanksgiving Games
49ers vs Bills Tops Weekend's Slate

NFL Week 13 Odds & Matchups
Week 13 of the 2024 NFL season brings with it three Thanksgiving games, one on Black Friday and San Francisco at Buffalo Sunday night.
There are a few other decent games, but few people will complain about NFL games on four days. It’s time for a quick rundown on all the week’s games and spreads in NFL Week 13 preseason preview.
Bears vs Lions
Day/Time: Thursday, Nov. 28, 12:30 p.m. ET
Odds: Detroit -4
Total: 50
Not a bad game to kick-off the holiday weekend, with Chicago visiting Detroit. The oddsmakers are giving the Bears a little bit of respect here. The Bears were just 2-7 straight-up as an away underdog last season, but did go 4-4-1 against the spread.
Chicago did take it to Detroit last December with a 28-13 home win. The Lions won 31-26 earlier in the season. The NFL week 13 odds seem a shade low here, and would have to give Detroit the lean early lean.
Giants vs Cowboys
Day/Time: Thursday, Nov. 28, 4:30 p.m. ET
Odds: Dallas -8
Total: 45.5
The Cowboys will be popular in the NFL Week 13 confidence picks this week. Dallas is the largest favorite on the board, although Kansas City is close. The sportsbooks will likely be seeing plenty of teasers tied into the Cowboys and Chiefs. The Cowboys do have the Monday night game against Cincinnati next week.
The Giants have lost six straight games to the Cowboys. The teams met early in the season. The total was just 39 when these two played in Dallas last year. There could be a little value in the under if the Giants are struggling to score again.
Dolphins vs Packers
Day/Time: Thursday, Nov. 28, 8:20 p.m. ET
Odds: Green Bay -3
Total: 48.5
The NFL Week 13 preseason preview sees the best of the Thanksgiving games, with the Dolphins visiting Green Bay. The Packers are coming off a game with the 49ers and have Detroit up next. Miami hosts the Jets next week, so both teams with key divisional games on tap.
This game is one of those that could come down to which team needs it more. Both should be in the hunt for the postseason and the outcome of this game will impact the NFL playoff predictor rankings. The situation appears to favor the Dolphins a little bit and would lean towards the underdog.
Raiders vs Chiefs
Day/Time: Friday, Nov. 29, 3:00 p.m. ET
Odds: Kansas City -7.5
Total: 45.5
The NFL Week 13 point spreads see Kansas City favored by 7.5 over Las Vegas. Kansas City was a little better in the home favorite role last year, going 5-4 ATS, but they were also 5-4 straight-up. You would expect a little more out of the Chiefs there.
Las Vegas is going to have to play better on the road if it hopes to claim a playoff spot. Going 2-5 straight-up isn’t going to get the job done. The Raiders will likely need this game more than Kansas City, so will lean with Las Vegas.
Cardinals vs Vikings
Day/Time: Sunday, Dec. 1, 1:00 p.m. ET
Odds: Minnesota -2
Total: 45.5
The Vikings aren’t favored often this season, but this is one of those times. The NFL Week 13 Vegas odds have Minnesota -2.
Minnesota’s defense shouldn’t be bad. It’s a question of the offense keeping pace. Sam Darnold is the starter for Minnesota entering training camp, but how long that lasts remains to be seen.
If Arizona’s offensive line holds up, the Cardinals should score some points, but they need Kyler Murray under center. The over has potential in this spot.
Chargers vs Falcons
Day/Time: Sunday, Dec. 1, 1:00 p.m. ET
Odds: Atlanta -2.5
Total: 47.5
The NFL Week 13 preseason preview has a decent game between two quarterbacks who could be in NFL Comeback Player of the Year 2024 consideration. Kirk Cousins has the third-lowest odds, while Justin Herbert is No. 7 in the early odds.
The Falcons made an offer Cousins couldn’t refuse and now he’ll try to get Atlanta back into the playoffs. Herbert saw a significant decrease in his production last season after missing some time and playing injured for a bit.
In order to help prevent a repeat, Los Angeles took the best offensive lineman in the draft, Joe Alt at No. 5. If both quarterbacks are healthy entering the game, it’s another one that could go over the total.
Seahawks vs Jets
Day/Time: Sunday, Dec. 1, 1:00 p.m. ET
Odds: New York -4.5
Total: 46.5
Geno Smith faces his former team once again and it’s been so long since he played for the Jets, it’s probably nothing he thinks about any longer. Aaron Rodgers is tied with Joe Burrow for the NFL Comeback Player of the Year Award favorite at +200.
The Jets will need him to stay in the line-up this season. New York is coming off a bye week, but do have Miami up next. It’s not the worst of the NFL matchups this week, although there are more interesting games on the schedule.
It’s an early start for Seattle, which isn’t ideal, but shouldn’t affect them too much. The underdog is worth a look for your NFL picks against the spread.
Titans vs Commanders
Day/Time: Sunday, Dec. 1, 1:00 p.m. ET
Odds: Washington -1.5
Total: 46.5
The Commanders are another team who won’t be favored many times this season, but are slim favorites in the NFL odds Week 13 2024. How the Commanders fare this season will largely be dependent on Jayden Daniels. He’s not going to have an easy time behind that offensive line, but can make things happen.
The Titans let Will Levis learn under fire last season and he played well for a rookie. Tackle JC Latham will be a good one, but the rookie left tackle will have his work cut out for him this year. The under looks to be the safest wager in this game.
Steelers vs Bengals
Day/Time: Sunday, Dec. 1, 1:00 p.m. ET
Odds: Cincinnati -5
Total: 44.5
The Bengals are favored by 5 in the first meeting of the season between the division rivals. The NFL over under is 44.5, with the Steelers’ quarterback play likely the deciding factor here. Wilson’s best days may be behind him, but he’s still an upgrade for Pittsburgh at quarterback.
The Bengals hope to see Joe Burrow bounce back and play the way he’s capable of performing when healthy. Mike Tomlin gets the most from his players and would lean to Pittsburgh +5 in this one.
Texans vs Jaguars
Day/Time: Sunday, Dec. 1, 1:00 p.m. ET
Odds: Jacksonville -1 (-105)
Total: 47
A key game in the AFC South sees Houston visiting the Jaguars. Jacksonville’s late-season slide last year allowed the Texans to sneak in as division champions.
The teams met early in the season in Houston. The Texans have a bye week next week, so there’s no reason they won’t be focused for this one. Jacksonville could need the game more, so there’s rationale in taking the Jags for one of your NFL picks against the spread Week 13. Only take Jacksonville provided Houston won the first meeting between the two.
Colts vs Patriots
Day/Time: Sunday, Dec. 1, 1:00 p.m. ET
Odds: Indianapolis -2.5
Total: 44
Indianapolis finds itself in the role of road favorites, which has been a decent spot for it, according to the NFL trends. The Colts are 10-6 ATS as away favorites since the start of the 2017 season.
There doesn’t appear to be a whole lot of incentive for taking the Patriots, although some will grab them in teasers. Both teams have bye weeks after this game, which could have playoff implications for Indianapolis if things go right. Indianapolis is probably the side to be on in this one.
Rams vs Saints
Day/Time: Sunday, Dec. 1, 4:05 p.m. ET
Odds: Rams -1.5
Total: 46.5
The Los Angeles Rams and New Orleans Saints kick-off the late games on Sunday. Both teams will probably have their share of supporters in the NFL pick sheet 2024.
This is another game where the Sanford Wong teaser disciples get involved and take the Saints +7.5. It’s hard to argue against those going that route, as this looks to be a pretty close game that could go either way.
Buccaneers vs Panthers
Day/Time: Sunday, Dec. 1, 4:05 p.m. ET
Odds: Tampa Bay -2
Total: 43
It’s more of the same here, with another 2-point favorite. It’s not quite so easy taking Carolina in a teaser, however, as the Panthers lost by an average of 10.6 points per game a year ago. The Buccaneers are probably going to be in the battle for the HFC South, making these types of games crucial for their playoff chances.
Baker Mayfield can certainly relate to what Bryce Young is going through right now. He’s found a home and Tampa Bay and the NFL Week 13 predictions 2024 like Tampa Bay to get the win.
Eagles vs Ravens
Day/Time: Sunday, Dec. 1, 4:25 p.m. ET
Odds: Baltimore -4
Total: 46.5
The NFL Week 13 preseason preview has the best of the day games as the lone 4:25 p.m. start, helping ensure a decent audience for the end of the game. The Ravens have a bye after this game, while the Eagles host Carolina.
Both teams played night games in Los Angeles the previous week, with Philadelphia visiting the Rams in the Sunday night game. The Ravens played the Chargers on Monday night. The NFL Week 13 point spreads are about where you would expect, so there’s not a whole lot of betting value in this game.
49ers vs Bills
Day/Time: Sunday, Dec. 1, 8:20 p.m. ET
Odds: San Francisco -2
Total: 47
This one looks to be the best game of the week, as we see yet another 2-point favorite. There is some logic in taking Buffalo +8 in a teaser, even though the 49ers were 6-3 as an away favorite last season. The temperature shouldn’t be too bad in Buffalo just yet. San Francisco needs to run the ball and get the crowd out of the game.
Both teams were in the top 10 in total defense a year ago and it should be more of the same this season. The NFL Week 13 defensive rankings should see one or both teams near the top again. Buffalo gets a slight lean, but that’s about it.
Browns vs Broncos
Day/Time: Monday, Dec. 2, 8:20 p.m. ET
Odds: Cleveland -3.5
Total: 43
The final game on this week’s schedule sees Cleveland visiting Denver. With a total of 43, it ties for the lowest over under NFL Week 13 total of the week.
The Browns have a few decent offensive pieces, but are more of a defensive team. Denver’s defense may not be that great, but the offense is unlikely to put a lot of points on the scoreboard. The under is probably the way to go in this one.
