NFL Week 14 Game Analysis: Smaller Slate With 6 Teams on Byes
Week Ends Strong With Bengals at Cowboys

The 14th week of the 2024 NFL season sees just 13 games due to six teams having bye weeks. It’s the final weekend of teams having the week off, as the league hits the homestretch.
There are several games that figure to have big playoff implications, along with several uninteresting games. It’s basically a typical week in the NFL. The NFL Week 14 game analysis will run down the schedule and look for betting value.

Packers vs Lions
Day/Time: Thursday, Dec. 5, 8:15 p.m. ET
Odds: Detroit -2.5 (-125)
Total: 48
The 2024 NFL playoff bracket could change depending on the outcome of this game. Both teams are expected to battle for the playoffs. One team will be the likely NFC North division winner. The other team should be in decent shape for a wild card berth.
The NFL football lines seem a shade light in this game. Detroit is expected to win the division and with the Lions being at home, a spread of Lions -3 was expected. These teams met in Week 9 in Green Bay. The Lions have a key game with Buffalo next week, but there shouldn’t be any looking ahead in this spot. If Green Bay won the first meeting, the Lions -2.5 become a play here.
Raiders vs Buccaneers
Day/Time: Sunday, Dec. 8, 1:00 p.m. ET
Odds: Tampa Bay -2.5 (-120)
Total: 44
The Raiders make the cross-country trip to face Tampa Bay in an early start. Las Vegas played on Black Friday against Kansas City, so will have an extra two days to get ready for the Bucs. Tampa Bay was just 2-3 ATS as a home favorite last season.
The Buccaneers can’t afford to lose games like this if they plan on returning to the playoffs. It’s a game they should win and have to take advantage. It’s still hard to lay points with the Bucs against the Week 14 NFL lines, but can see a case for the over 44.
Browns vs Steelers
Day/Time: Sunday, Dec. 8, 1:00 p.m. ET
Odds: Pittsburgh -1 (-105)
Total: 43.5
This one might not be a bad game between AFC North rivals. The NFL Week 14 game analysis shows Cleveland has lost the last three games played in Pittsburgh. These two teams played just two weeks ago and have a quick rematch here.
This is one of the best games from an NFL Week 14 matchups angle, as both are solid defensively. Still, three of the last four games they’ve played have gone over the total. The weather usually isn’t too terrible at this time of the year, but will have to side with the Steelers at home.
Saints vs Giants
Day/Time: Sunday, Dec. 8, 1:00 p.m. ET
Odds: New Orleans -1 (Even)
Total: 41
It’s impossible to try and pass this off as a decent game, as New Orleans visits the New York Giants. The Saints were just 1-4-1 last season as a road favorite, while the Giants were 5-2-1 as home underdogs. The NFL trends are pointing toward the home underdog in this spot.
New York last played Thanksgiving against Dallas, so will have several extra days to get ready for New Orleans. If you have to play this one, it’s a little easier to make a case for the Giants.
Panthers vs Eagles
Day/Time: Sunday, Dec. 8, 1:00 p.m. ET
Odds: Philadelphia -7.5
Total: 45
The NFL Week 14 game analysis sees the Eagles being a popular play among bettors this week. Those taking Philadelphia in a teaser can move the line to less than a field goal. The Eagles will be used pretty high in the NFL Week 14 confidence picks. Philadelphia is the largest favorite of the week.
Carolina is catching the Eagles in a decent spot. Philadelphia played Baltimore last week and has the Pittsburgh Steelers on tap. The Eagles and Steelers are true rivals, but there is a bit of state pride on the line. It does take some nerve to back a Carolina team that was 2-7 ATS last year as a road underdog. The Panthers should be better this season and can see making a small play on the Panthers.
Jaguars vs Titans
Day/Time: Sunday, Dec. 8, 1:00 p.m. ET
Odds: Jacksonville -1.5
Total: 45
Jacksonville makes the trip to Tennessee for this AFC South game, where the Jags are favored by 1.5 in the NFL Week 14 betting lines. The Titans will be used in some teasers since the line can be moved to 7.5. The Jags were 4-3 ATS on the road last season and this is a game they need to win to try and keep pace with Houston.
The Titans were 5-3 straight-up and 6-2 ATS at home last season. Will Levis is going to have to make more plays for the Titans, but the Jags aren’t all that bad defensively. The under could be worth a look here.
Falcons vs Vikings
Day/Time: Sunday, Dec. 8, 1:00 p.m. ET
Odds: Atlanta -1
Total: 45
Kirk Cousins faces his old team here and that will likely be the main storyline leading into the game. Cousins wanted a longer contract than the Vikings were willing to offer, so he moved on. It happens in sports.
The Falcons will do what they can to win the game for Cousins, although it’s a big one for the Vikings, as well. Minnesota’s play at home left a lot to be desired last season, which makes it hard to take them here. There is a case to be made for using this for one of your Week 14 over under NFL plays and taking the over 45.
Jets vs Dolphins
Day/Time: Sunday, Dec. 8, 1:00 p.m. ET
Odds: Miami -2
Total: 47.5
This one is shaping up to be a pretty solid game. The Dolphins and Jets could have identical NFL team records or be pretty close to each other, making it a meaningful game. The teams played just a few weeks ago in New York and the loser of that game could be worth a look here.
Miami has won seven of the last eight games between the two, but this should be the best New York team in that time frame. It all depends on the health of Aaron Rodgers. It’s a little easier to trust New York’s defense, although being on the road takes away a little of their advantage. This one could see a bit of scoring and at first glance, the over appears to offer the most value.
Seahawks at Cardinals
Day/Time: Sunday, Dec. 8, 4:05 p.m. ET
Odds: Arizona -1
Total: 46
The Cardinals are one of the shakiest NFL favorites for this week even if the line is just one point. Arizona is just 5-9 ATS as a favorite over the last three seasons and are hard to bet without getting points. Seattle can challenge for a wild card spot, but has to win these types of games.
The Cardinals played decent after Kyler Murray returned, but they need his health to hold up all season. That will only happen if the offensive line does a better job blocking. There’s really no edge in this game one way or the other.
Bears vs 49ers
Day/Time: Sunday, Dec. 8, 4:25 p.m. ET
Odds: San Francisco -5.5
Total: 47.5
A rough spot here for the 49ers, who are coming off a game with Buffalo and then play the Rams on Thursday. The scheduling factors are probably enough to keep the 49ers off some people’s NFL picks and parlays. It’s just not a great spot.
Seeing Caleb Williams on the other side of the ball could work as a motivating factor for San Francisco depending on the amount of press he gets his rookie season. The 49ers are one of those NFL favorites this week you don’t feel confident in backing even though the line is reasonable.
Bills vs Rams
Day/Time: Sunday, Dec. 8, 4:25 p.m. ET
Odds: Buffalo -1
Total: 48
The NFL Week 14 game analysis shows what could be a fairly entertaining game. The Rams are a bit of a puzzle this season in that you’re not entirely sure they can duplicate last year’s record. Buffalo looks to be strong, but may not get so much respect due to having Miami and the Jets in their division.
It wouldn’t be a surprise if the line looks a quite different later on in the season due to the Rams being better or worse than anticipated. The Bills did play San Francisco last week and have a tough game at Detroit next week. The Rams are a quality opponent and can’t be overlooked. Have to lean to Buffalo against the NFL Week 14 spreads, but it’s a slight lean at best.
Chargers vs Chiefs
Day/Time: Sunday, Dec. 8, 8:20 p.m. ET
Odds: Kansas City -6.5
Total: 44.5
The Kansas City Chiefs get another prime time appearance in this one, hosting Los Angeles in an AFC West battle. The NFL Week 14 Vegas odds have Kansas City -6.5, although the total could be a shade low. Much of that has to do with the Chiefs living up to their promise to throw more deep passes. Kansas City was an under machine last year, so the sportsbooks are handing them fairly low totals right now.
The Chargers need Justin Herbert on the field and healthy. He missed some time last year and wasn’t himself when playing injured at others. Kansas City was 5-4 as a home favorite last year, but just 1-8 in totals, including the playoffs. The Chiefs played last Friday, so will have a few extra days to get ready for this one. The Chargers could be the right side in this one.
Bengals vs Cowboys
Day/Time: Monday, Dec. 9, 8:20 p.m. ET
Odds: Dallas -1
Total: 48.5
This is definitely one of the better NFL Week 14 games this week, as Joe Burrow and the Bengals visit Dallas. Cincinnati isn’t the same team without Burrow and when he’s on, he’s as good as anybody in the league. He does have to stay in the line-up for that to happen.
Dallas was 6-2 as a home favorite last year, but then lost as 7-point home favorites to the Packers. With the line being so low, you’re really just asking the Cowboys to win this game straight-up, which they can do if Dak Prescott is able to remain on the field. Dallas should be the right side in this one.
