NFL Week 16 Matchups: Seattle Looks to Slow Down High-Flying Kansas City Chiefs
Vikings, Giants Both Looking to Rediscover Their Mojo

Panthers and Falcons Hope to Remain In Contention for NFC South Title
With Christmas falling on a Sunday, a large portion of the NFL Week 16 matchups is being shifted to Saturday. There are four early Saturday afternoon kickoffs being aired on Fox.
Kansas City and Minnesota have already clinched division titles while the Seattle Seahawks, New York Giants, Detroit Lions, Carolina Panthers and Atlanta Falcons are hoping to join them in the playoffs. Meanwhile. the Baltimore Ravens are one of the least talked about 9-5 teams in recent memory.
The Chiefs (+500) are third in the odds to win the Super Bowl with Baltimore (+2500) and Minnesota (+2800) coming in seventh and ninth.
Game of the Week
Seattle Seahawks at Kansas City Chiefs
Date & Time & Streaming:
Moneyline: Seattle +345, Kansas City -460
Line: Kansas City -10

This is not a must-win game for Seattle, but a victory would be extremely beneficial for the Seahawks.
Seattle is currently just outside of the playoff structure in the NFC with the New York Giants and Washington Commanders teams they are hoping to catch also listed as underdogs on Saturday.
It won’t be easy for Seattle, not when looking at the NFL stats; with Patrick Mahomes heading into Week 16 leading the NFL in passing yards, but his Kansas City offense is also averaging more yards per game than any other team in the NFL.
Geno Smith was one of the best stories for much of the 2022 NFL season; however, the Seattle quarterback has struggled recently. It won’t help that reliable receiver Tyler Lockett is injured. The Seahawks would love to feature rookie running back Kenneth Walker but that would mean staying within striking range of Patrick Mahomes and the powerful Chiefs offense.
Seattle linebacker Jordyn Brooks and tight end Noah Fant are questionable as is Kansas City defensive tackle Chris Jones.
Kansas City has already clinched the AFC West title for the seventh season in a row. They are fighting with Buffalo for the No. 1 seed in the AFC with the Bills winning the game between the teams in mid-October.
Other Games to Watch
Atlanta Falcons at Baltimore Ravens
Date & Time & Streaming:
Moneyline: Atlanta +280, Baltimore -350
Line: Baltimore -7.5
There’s nothing quite like a probable quarterback showdown between Tyler Huntley of the Baltimore Ravens and Atlanta rookie Desmond Ridder as part of the NFL Week 16 matchups.
It was a tough first start for Ridder as he threw for 97 yards with no touchdowns and he was sacked four times. Fellow rookies Tyler Allgeier (139 rushing yards) and Drake London (seven catches for 70 yards) helped to take some of the pressure off Ridder.
The Falcons are only a game out of first place in the dreadful NFC South so there is still something to play for. Baltimore trails Cincinnati by a game in the AFC North after being held to a field goal in a loss to Cleveland. The good news is that running back J.K. Dobbins is coming off a strong game and he could carry much of the offense.
Defensive end Calais Campbell and cornerback Marcus Peters are questionable for the Ravens. The defense did more than enough to win last week, holding Cleveland to 283 yards, but two turnovers by the offense proved costly.
The total opened at 41 and is now at 37.5.
New York Giants at Minnesota Vikings
Date & Time & Streaming:
Moneyline: New York +150, Minnesota -175
Line: Minnesota -3.5
The NFL teams both picked up crucial wins last week in completely different ways.
The Giants got a touchdown from rookie linebacker Kayvon Thibodeaux to take the lead it would never relinquish in a workmanlike 20-12 win over NFC East rival Washington.
The Vikings fell behind by 33 points at halftime to a mediocre Indianapolis Colts team before rallying for an improbable overtime win.
Minnesota has clinched the NFC North Division title; however, the Vikings still have some work to do to outlast San Francisco and secure the No. 2 seed behind Philadelphia in the NFC.
There are injury concerns on defense for the Giants and that is a problem when going up against electrifying receiver Justin Jefferson.
Detroit Lions at Carolina Panthers
Date & Time & Streaming:
Moneyline: Detroit -150, Carolina +130
Line: Detroit -3
Quick, a show of hands of everybody who envisioned that an NFL Week 16 matchup could have playoff implications for both Detroit and Carolina.
Detroit is closing fast on Washington and Seattle and when looking at the NFL Week 16 point spreads, Detroit is favored on the road for the first time since a 2020 game against Carolina and with six wins in the last seven games, a wild-card berth is within the reach of the Lions.
Taylor Decker and Frank Ragnow who are both questionable while cornerback Jaycee Horn is questionable for Carolina.
Jared Goff has nine touchdowns and no interceptions over the last six games and a young Detroit defense is growing up on a weekly basis. Keep an eye on offensive linemen Taylor Decker and Frank Ragnow who are both questionable while cornerback Jaycee Horn is questionable for Carolina.
Carolina is just a game out of first in the tight-bunched NFC South despite last week’s loss to Pittsburgh. The running game was almost nonexistent in the 24-16 loss at home.
It could be fun watching top-10 first-round picks square off with defensive end Aidan Hutchinson of Detroit and offensive lineman Ikem Ekwonu both coming on strong.
