NFL Week 7 Preseason Preview: Chiefs vs 49ers Game of the Week

Super Bowl Rematch Takes Place in Bay Area

This is the week a number of football fans have waited for all season. The Kansas City Chiefs visit the San Francisco 49ers Sunday afternoon in a Super Bowl rematch. The Chiefs won Super Bowl 58 25-22 in overtime.

It’s not only the biggest game of the week, but quite possibly the biggest regular season game of the year. The NFL Week 7 preseason preview will take a look at it and all the games on the schedule.

Broncos logo Broncos vs Saints Saints logo

Day/Time:
Odds: New Orleans -3.5
Total: 42.5

The NFL Week 7 matchups begin with a bit of a downer, as Denver visits New Orleans. The Broncos are expected to go through some growing pains this season, although maybe not quite to the extent predicted. Sean Payton is a quality coach.

The Saints are trying to work their way into the NFC South playoff hunt with Atlanta and Tampa Bay. New offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak and better play from Derek Carr will be the key for the Saints. The price is a little cheap on the Saints and right now they look to offer the better value.

London: Patriots logo Patriots vs Jaguars Jaguars logo

Day/Time:
Odds: Jacksonville -6.5
Total: 42.5

The Patriots have the opportunity to stink it up on both sides of the Atlantic this season, somehow being selected to play in London. New coach Jerod Mayo has his work cut out for him this season, but his job will be easier in Drake Maye lives up to his potential.

The Jaguars gave Trevor Lawrence a ton of money and it’s time for him to live up to his new contract. Jacksonville gets a big advantage by staying in London after last week. The Jags are a fixture in London and the ordeal is nothing new for them. While Jacksonville looks good in a teaser, don’t hesitate to use the Jaguars as one of your NFL picks against the spread.

Bengals logo Bengals vs Browns Browns logo

Day/Time:
Odds: Cincinnati -1
Total: 46.5

This one is the best of the early Sunday games, as an AFC North showdown between the two Ohio teams takes place. The Browns are coming off a tough game with Philadelphia, while the Bengals should have taken care of business against the Giants. The NFL Week 7 Las Vegas odds have the total a little bit higher than expected. The Browns are still a defense-first type of team. Take the under 46.5 in this one.

Titans logo Titans vs Bills Bills logo

Day/Time:
Odds: Buffalo -7 (-120)
Total: 47.5

The Bills will be taken towards the top of the NFL Week 7 confidence picks this week. At first glance it looks as though Buffalo should roll, but the Bills are coming off the Monday night game against the Jets.

With previous games against Houston and Baltimore, this one is a potential letdown spot for Buffalo. Tennessee will be changing its identity this season under new head coach Brian Callahan. The Titans will throw the ball more with Will Levis. Tennessee +7 is worth consideration.

Seahawks logo Seahawks vs Falcons Falcons logo

Day/Time:
Odds: Atlanta -3.5 (-105)
Total: 48

Seattle travels to Atlanta in a decent contest that both NFL teams need. This is the type of game that can have an impact on the 2024 NFL playoff bracket. The Seahawks are expected to fight for one of the NFC wild card berths, but seem unlikely to catch the 49ers.

Seattle has a few extra days to prepare for the game, having hosted San Francisco the previous Thursday. The Seahawks host Buffalo next, so this could be their best chance for a win in that three-game stretch. Take Seattle as a small underdog unless it somehow pulled off the upset against San Francisco.

Eagles logo Eagles vs Giants Giants logo

Day/Time:
Odds: Philadelphia -4.5
Total: 44

The NFL Week 7 preseason preview shows division rivals Philadelphia and New York meeting in MetLife Stadium. The NFL Week 7 picks straight up will be on Philadelphia for most bettors. The Eagles have a score to settle from January’s 27-10 New York victory where Jalen Hurts was terrible.

The Giants wracked-up 415 total yards and led 24-0 at halftime. The Eagles have the Giants in between Cleveland and Cincinnati, but last season’s embarrassing loss should have the team ready. Take the Eagles to get their revenge.

Lions logo Lions vs Vikings Vikings logo

Day/Time:
Odds: Detroit -3 (-120)
Total: 48

Detroit has won the last three meetings between these two teams and the NFL Week 7 odds and predictions have the Lions as small road favorites. You know what you’re going to get with the Lions. They’ll throw the ball plenty and also give up some play defensively.

It’s not quite so clear cut for Minnesota. Sam Darnold was signed to be the placeholder until their rookie quarterback was drafted. That turned out to be JJ McCarthy, who some said was the most NFL-ready quarterback in the NFL draft. Minnesota may have other plans, however. The last five games between these two have seen at least 50 points, which gives the over a slight lean.

Texans logo Texans vs Packers Packers logo

Day/Time:
Odds: Green Bay -2.5
Total: 47.5

Another pretty decent game on the schedule, as Houston travels to Green Bay. The teams haven’t met since 2020 when Deshaun Watson and Aaron Rodgers were the QBs. Houston played three games last season where the total was 47.5 and went under each game.

Green Bay was 1-1 in games with high totals. Houston was 5-2 ATS when an underdog of three points or less during the season. That gives the Texans a decent chance of pulling off one of the NFL Week 7 upsets. The Texans have slightly lower Super Bowl odds than Green Bay. Houston may be a popular teaser wager this week, but look promising against the spread.

Dolphins logo Dolphins vs Colts Colts logo

Day/Time:
Odds: Miami -1
Total: 49

It’s been three years since these two last met and the line is pretty low in this one. The NFL Week 7 implied team totals are calling for a 25-24 Miami victory. The Dolphins have the better team and were 3-0 ATS as an away favorite last season.

Miami was just 1-4 as an away underdog, which is where they developed the reputation as being a poor road team. Indianapolis was just 2-4 as a home underdog last year, including 1-2 under Anthony Richardson. The trends give the Dolphins a slight lean.

Raiders logo Raiders vs Rams Rams logo

Day/Time:
Odds: Los Angeles -4.5
Total: 46

The first of the late afternoon games sees Las Vegas make the short trip to Los Angeles to face the Rams. The NFL scores and odds are asking the Rams to cover a 4.5-point spread, which is about right considering the Raiders’ problems on the road.

Las Vegas was 2-3 ATS getting more than 4.5 points on the road last year. The two spread covers were when the Raiders were double-digit underdogs. The Rams are the better team, although it’s not the greatest of games from a betting perspective.

Panthers logo Panthers vs Commanders Commanders logo

Day/Time:
Odds: Washington -3
Total: 42

The NFL Week 7 preseason preview shows Washington in the rare role of favorite this season. The Commanders were 0-4 ATS as a favorite last season, although that was with Sam Howell at quarterback and not Jayden Daniels. Carolina was 1-1-1 ATS last season as an underdog of three points or less.

The Panthers made some moves designed to help Bryce Young, but there are still some huge holes on both sides of the ball. Right now you have to side with Washington.

Chiefs logo Chiefs vs 49ers 49ers logo

Day/Time:
Odds: San Francisco -1
Total: 49

The NFL Week 7 power rankings 2024 should have these two teams near the top, as the Chiefs face the 49ers. The early odds have San Francisco favored by a point. That could climb a little bit as the game draws near. There is going to be plenty of talk above revenge for San Francisco.

Kansas City has won the last four meetings between these two, however, and that includes two Super Bowls and two regular season games. The total is a bit on the high side and while not a popular play with fans, the under offers the best value.

Jets logo Jets vs Steelers Steelers logo

Day/Time:
Odds: New York -1
Total: 43

The Sunday night game is a good, but not necessarily great, matchup between the Jets and Steelers. New York will be fighting Buffalo and Miami for the AFC East title. Pittsburgh is the tough AFC North, which also features Baltimore, Cincinnati and Cleveland. Whichever of these two teams qualifies for the NFL playoffs will have earned it.

New York is coming off a Monday night game with Buffalo, so it will have a little less time to prepare than normal. The NFL Week 7 spreads look to be taking that into consideration. The odds suggest a toss-up and it’s hard to argue against that.

Ravens logo Ravens vs Buccaneers Buccaneers logo

Day/Time:
Odds: Baltimore -5
Total: 46

The first of two Monday night games, Baltimore visits Tampa Bay as 5-point favorites. The Bucs are fortunate the NFC South hasn’t been particularly good the past two years. Tampa Bay is one of the least impressive back-to-back division champions in recent memory.

The Bucs have won three straight division titles, although the 2021 team with Tom Brady was pretty solid. Baltimore doesn’t have the same luxury, as the AFC North is loaded and these are the types of games they need to win. Tampa Bay was 0-4 in totals as a home underdog last NFL season and the under could be one of your best bets NFL Week 7.

Chargers logo Chargers vs Cardinals Cardinals logo

Day/Time:
Odds: Arizona -1
Total: 45

The final game on the schedule for the week sees the Chargers visit the Cardinals. Arizona won’t be favored often. It was an underdog every game played last season. Both teams could be a bit better with healthy quarterbacks for the duration of the season.

That’s easier said than done, however. The NFL over under Week 7 play on this one should be the over, as long as Kyler Murray and Justin Herbert are starting. Both quarterbacks have the ability to make big plays when healthy.
