Seattle Already Worried About Geno Smith’s Health
Bearish on the Projected 2024 Geno Smith Season Odds

The Seattle Seahawks have struck with Geno Smith over the last few seasons. But he’s already injured before the first preseason game.
The Seahawks starting quarterback got banged up on Tuesday and will now undergo testing after missing the last two practices with his NFL injuries.

This isn’t what the Seahawks want to hear.
With Seattle’s current win total at 7.5, oddsmakers aren’t high on the Seahawks. Add in the injuries with Geno Smith, and things aren’t looking so hot for Seattle.
Smith finished last NFL season 16th in passing yards and 17th in passing touchdowns. He also had an average QBR of 59.5 and threw nine interceptions. Smith ultimately resurrected his career with the Seahawks and proved a viable option at quarterback.
However, his best days might be behind him.
Let’s discuss the projected 2024 Geno Smith season odds and find the best bets for his markets.
Geno Smith’ Passing Yards
- 3450.5 (O/U -110/-110)
In his two seasons as a starter with the Seattle Seahawks, Geno Smith has surpassed 3,600 passing yards in each season. In 2022, he accumulated 4,282 passing yards in 17 NFL games. However, he only played 15 games last year and secured 3,624 passing yards.
He didn’t play nearly as well in 2022. His passer rating dipped to 92.1 after he finished with a 100.9 rating in 2022. His QBR also went from 62.8 to 59.5 last season.
Additionally, Smith’s completion percentage dropped from 69.8% to 64.7% in 2023, and his touchdown-to-interception ratio was also much worse.
With injuries already piling up for Smith, it’s hard to imagine he plays a full slate of games this year. He’s already unable to practice without any tackling allowed. That’s not a good sign.
Furthermore, the Seahawks added Sam Howell to be the backup. If Howell gets an opportunity to play, he might never give up his spot as the starter. Howell already has starter experience from his time in Washington, and the Seahawks wouldn’t have added him if they didn’t feel like he could be the team’s future starter.
We’re projecting a down year for Geno Smith, just like the NFL odds show. After all, the Seahawks made no major changes to the offense. Nothing significant will happen with this Seahawks group.
Geno Smith’s Passing Touchdowns
- 22.5 Passing Touchdowns (O/U +110/-130)
Geno Smith has been a starting quarterback for four seasons. However, he’s only added 23 or more passing touchdowns in one of the four seasons. It’s why his 2024 Geno Smith season odds are lower than some would expect.
Smith recorded 20 passing touchdowns last season in 15 games. If he had played the entire season without injuries, he would probably have gone over 22.5 passing touchdowns. But he didn’t get to play all 17 games and already looks on his way to potentially missing multiple games this year with injuries already piling up.
The wide receiver group is the game. DK Metcalf is the main contributor, but he’s been hot and cold with Seattle over the last couple of seasons. There are games where he doesn’t even get many looks. The same could be said about Tyler Lockett while Jaxon Smith-Njigba didn’t impress in his rookie season.
We’d take the Under with this prop as well. The Seahawks NFL playoff odds prove that Seattle isn’t expected to be a juggernaut this season.
Geno Smith To Throw For 4,000+ Yards
- +310
If you have some intel that Geno Smith will be alright and believe he’ll play every game of the season, Geno Smith to throw for 4,000 or more yards is the bet for you.
While we don’t love this bet, Geno Smith added 4,282 yards passing in 2022. If Metcalf gets his act together, and Smith-Njigba develops into a great receiver, Smith could be sneaky here. Smith would also have to stay healthy for the entire season.
This bet would only work in a perfect world. However, Smith still added 3,624 yards in 15 games last year. If he played in the other two games, he would likely have another 4,000-yard season. So, it truly relies on Smith being healthy.
A perfect season for Smith could help his NFL MVP odds.
But that’s the thing. He’s already not healthy and missing training camp and practice. That certainly won’t help him down the line.
That said, his chemistry shouldn’t be damaged. As we acknowledged earlier, the Seahawks didn’t make many moves to the starting offense, so the offensive playmakers are all familiar with one another.
Our projected 2024 Geno Smith season odds don’t love Geno Smith this year. But he’s made the Pro Bowl with Seattle and has the potential to do great things. We already saw it in 2022.
