Tom Brady NFL News: Part Owner and Part Player? The GOAT’s Next Evolution
Can Brady Join Raiders as Owner and Player?

Tom Brady is back… at least, as an owner. The NFL’s greatest quarterback is reported to be purchasing a minority stake in the Las Vegas Raiders. Mark Davis, the Raiders’ majority owner told ESPN last Monday. With Tom Brady’s NFL news also comes speculation that perhaps the “GOAT” could also be the team’s new quarterback. What are the odds on that?

But Brady Can be Both Owner and Player
Back in 2000, Michael Jordan became a minority owner of the Washington Wizards. A year later, he sold his stake to come out of retirement and play for the team. In the NBA, active players could not also own teams. However, there is no such rule in the NFL so Brady could still return to play for the Raiders while maintaining his ownership.
It would be quite the Tom Brady’s NFL news if he announced he’s coming out of retirement for the second time (Jordan un-retired twice as well). After all, the groundwork is there for the seven-time Super Bowl champion to come back.
His friend and longtime offensive coordinator from New England, Josh McDaniels, is the head coach of the team. The Raiders also need a starting quarterback as Jimmy Garoppolo remains sidelined with an injury.
Brady reaffirmed that he is “certain” he will not play again. But Jordan also said he was “99.9 percent certain” he would not return just before playing for the Wizards. So it’s no surprise for fans to hold their breath on Brady’s return to the field.
Brady in 2022: He’s Still Got It
Despite some mediocre NFL results from Brady’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2022, he still played relatively well. He did not put up the stats most folks were used to seeing from “Tom Terrific” but Brady is still capable of starting.
Last Year’s Stats
Brady had his first losing season as a starter in the NFL. The Buccaneers also had a poor offense (25th in points scored) and combined with a solid defense, their games produced low NFL scores.
PASSING | STATS |

YDS | 4,694 |
Y/A | 6.4 |

Still, Brady led the league in completions and had a completion percentage and yards per game better than his career average. With the right scheme and coaching, Brady could once again produce more prolific stats in 2023… if he returns.
Rich Raiders: Team Has Plenty of Talent for 2023
The Raiders have plenty of top-tier offensive talent to entice Brady to return. Even in trading Darren Waller, the Raiders still have a potent receiving duo in Davante Adams and Hunter Renfrow.
All-Pro running back Josh Jacobs returns on a franchise tag and the team have a pair of tight ends in O.J. Howard, Brady’s teammate in Tampa, and second-round pick Michael Mayer. Keep an eye on Tom Brady’s NFL news as he might just come back…
