2024 Caleb Williams Season Odds: The Bears Finally Invested Around Their Quarterback
Caleb Williams hasn’t played a snap in the NFL in his career. But he already has high expectations after becoming the first overall pick in this year’s NFL Draft.
Williams went to the Chicago Bears first overall. Usually, the team with the first overall pick was the worst team in the NFL the year before. However, that wasn’t the case this year.
The Bears traded Carolina for this draft pick after trading away last year’s first overall draft pick to the Panthers.
Carolina took Bryce Young, and the Bears brought in Caleb Williams the year after Young, but the Panthers never turned things around.
Williams spent one season in Oklahoma but dipped from Oklahoma and went to USC when head coach Lincoln Riley took over at USC.
- In 37 games and 33 starts, Williams added 9,782 yards passing with 93 passing touchdowns and 14 interceptions. He also tallied 27 rushing touchdowns and averaged 3.3 yards a carry.
In his first season with USC, Williams went on to win the Heisman Award in 2022. However, he returned for one more season and couldn’t repeat.
Still, he’s one of the most highly anticipated rookies in the NFL this season, with expectations through the roof.
Let’s glance at the 2024 Caleb Williams season odds for his rookie season.
Caleb Williams’ Passing Yards

There have been many rookies who have added at least 3,501 passing yards in their first season.
- The list starts with Andrew Luck, who had a rookie-best 4,374 yards passing in 2012 in his rookie season.
Others to earn at least 3,501 in the first season include Justin Herbert, C.J. Stroud, Cam Newton, Jameis Winston, Mac Jones, Carson Wentz, Peyton Manning, Baker Mayfield, and Kyler Murray.
Ultimately, if Williams can stay healthy, he’ll also have a good chance of earning these numbers.
The Bears struggled to develop Justin Fields, and some believe they could stunt Williams’ growth, too. However, Chicago did some things that it never did for Fields this time.
The Bears added talent around Williams.
Chicago acquired Keenan Allen at wide receiver and D’Andre Swift at running back. The Bears also drafted Rome Odunze to strengthen the offense, which already includes DJ Moore and Khalil Herbert.
Last season, the Bears had David Montgomery and Darnell Mooney playing significant snaps.
Look at the difference with this team now that they’ve got three reliable targets at wide receiver, D’Andre Swift at running back, and Cole Kmet still at tight end. It’s night and day. They’re putting Williams in a position to deliver.
They just never did that for Fields and stunted his growth. The Bears are finally headed in the right direction via the NFL Super Bowl odds.
Still, don’t get it twisted. When looking at the NFL spreads, the Bears won’t be heavily favored throughout the season.

Caleb Williams’ Passing Touchdowns

Of the quarterbacks mentioned above, only three added more than 23 passing touchdowns.
- Not even Andrew Luck added more than 23 passing touchdowns despite throwing for more than 4,370 yards.
Chicago’s offense was below average last season. They’ve developed the entire offense, which looks better than last season. But there are also a lot of new pieces.
It will also take some time to adapt to all those new faces, especially dealing with a rookie quarterback.
That said, he added at least 30 passing touchdowns in his last two college seasons. But the NFL is a whole lot different. He’ll have to get through his progression and learn a much larger playbook while escaping bigger men.
When looking at his 2024 Caleb Williams season odds, we like his yards to go over, but not his touchdowns.
Caleb Williams Offensive Rookie of the Year

Caleb Williams is the favorite to win the Offensive Rookie of the Year. And for good reason. Williams is already the No. 1 quarterback in Chicago without even having to compete for the job.
He also agreed to a four-year contract with nearly $40 million guaranteed.
He’ll compete against other rookies like Jayden Daniels and Marvin Harrison Jr. for the Offensive Rookie of the Year. Daniels has a solid NFL team of offensive playmakers, but on paper, it’s not comparable to the Bears’.
Meanwhile, the Cardinals drafted Marvin Harrison Jr. to be the leading receiver. He’ll catch passes from Kyler Murray, but would anyone consider him a favorite to win the Offensive Rookie of the Year if the Cardinals don’t win much?
We have our doubts.
Ultimately, Williams is in the best situation of any of the top quarterbacks. Just look at the NFL playoff predictions.
A sleeper worth mentioning would be Malik Nabers at +2000. Many are down on the Giants, but they’ve built a good roster and targeted some areas they desperately needed.
Still, it’s much easier for a quarterback to win the award than a wide receiver. C.J. Stroud won it last year. That helped quarterbacks win the award in three of the previous five.
