Flat Notes Galore for the Blues?

The St. Louis Blues started off the hockey season with three consecutive wins, quickly launching them atop the NHL standings 2022, before nosediving to the bottom of the Central Division with a current six-game losing streak.

Coach Craig Berube’s club is having issues with the defense and goaltending, with the Blue Notes yielding four or more goals in five of their last six games, and a total of 30 goals allowed during this losing skid. With starting goaltender Jordan Binnington struggling in net once again, they are missing the services of last season’s backup Ville Husso, who is now with the Detroit Red Wings.

Binnington’s backup, the 37-year old veteran Thomas Greiss has lost both of this starts this year with a high 3.28 goals-against average but a respectable .915 save percentage.

Some of the veteran skaters like Torey Krug, Noel Acciari  and now injured Brandon Saad have been difficult to find consistently on the NHL scoresheet in a given night, leaving defenseman Justin Faulk and sniper Vladimir Tarasenko to lead the club first and second in overall points, respectively.

Fresh and Piping Hot in Beantown

The Boston Bruins NHL standings 2022 have been one of the best hockey teams to start this National Hockey League season, winning ten of their first 12 games. Unfortunately, the Bruins saw their seven-game win streak snapped on Saturday night in a tough 2-1 defeat to their rivals, the Toronto Maple Leafs. Forward Brad Marchand scored his fourth goal of the season on a penalty shot after he was interfered with by Maple Leafs defenseman Justin Holl while on a breakaway scoring opportunity.

Marchand’s successful penalty shot was the first for the Bruins since forward Erik Haula netted one last season and it was the sixth penalty shot goal in Marchand’s career in nine chances with the club.

Star forward David Pastrnak leads the club with eight goals and 17 points in 12 games, while veteran centerman Patrice Bergeron has four goals and six assists for a total of ten points and defenseman Hampus Lindholm has four goals and nine assists for a total of 13 points thus far in the season.

Boston has scored a league-best 51 goals this year and have won ten of their first 12 games for the first time in the franchise’s storied history, which has certainly shorted the price on the team’s Stanley Cup Odds for the season
