Dallas Stars Schedule: What Happened To The Dallas Stars?
Now That the Dallas Stars Schedule is Complete it’s Time to Dig Into Their Season.Â

The Dallas Stars Schedule had them competing for a Stanley Cup after a season that saw them collect 108 points. True they made it to the conference final against the Vegas Golden Knights, but it was the way they were bounced out that is cause for concern. If we had to make our NHL picks today for next season we would have to examine the following before putting our money behind the Stars.
The DeBoer Effect On Oettinger
We don’t know this for sure, but Pete DeBoer has a reputation when it comes to his goaltenders. This came to light in Vegas when he and Robin Lehner didn’t always see eye to eye. So much so there was an intermission heated discussion last year when DeBoer suggested in the room that Lehner wasn’t carrying his weight. That’s the light version.
Nothing has been said but it was obvious that Stars goaltender Jake Oettinger wasn’t the same as the season progressed into the playoffs. The 24-year-old netminder finished 37-11-11 (.919 sv%, 2.37 GAA) in the regular season but just 10-9 with a .895 save percentage to go with 3.06 goals against. In the last five games against Vegas, Oettinger was 2-3 and was run in game four after allowing four goals in 7:10. The former Team USA goaltender has two more years on his contract.
We expect both DeBoer and Oettinger will run it back next year but we’ll have our ear to the ground, trying to get some word on their relationship.
Stars Learn Depth and Defense Wins
The Dallas Stars 2023-24 schedule features teams they can get away from not playing well defensively against, but when it comes to the postseason we’ve seen what happens against the league’s best. We think the goal this offseason for GM Jim Nill, is to add a top defenseman to a team that is already one of the best in their own end after allowing just 2.62 goals per game (3rd) this season.
However, once the Stars postseason schedule came to a close, it was obvious that they weren’t good enough against the best teams after finishing 8th among the 16 playoff teams in goals against (3.21). A lack of depth was exposed in their last five games against the Golden Knights with five of the Stars nine goals coming from the top line. Of those five, four were scored by Jason Robertson.
That simply won’t be good enough against teams like Vegas who had 11 goals from players not on the Jack Eichel line. That’s why the Dallas Stars schedule has ended with disappointment.
Dallas Stars Betting Notes
The Dallas Stars had a great season, just not for the betting public. If we combine both the regular season and the postseason, the Stars finished 57-44 but that cost bettors 518 units based on a $100 wager per game. It didn’t matter if they were a favorite or dog with both failing to produce a profit (12-18 -246 dog, 45-28, -273 favorite).
Dallas finished in the black on the road with 279 units won behind a 29-21 record but was unreliable at home (28-23, -797). That completes our look back at the Dallas Stars schedule, see you when the puck drops in the Metroplex in October.
