Jets vs Maple Leafs Lines: The Best Canadian Team is an Underdog Now?
Winnipeg Visits Toronto as Slight Dogs

Winnipeg-Toronto With Tight NHL Lines and a Low Total
It’s not often we see Winnipeg as an underdog. They fly to Toronto this Wednesday evening with the Jets vs Maple Leafs match lines favoring the home team, but not by much. Toronto is at -125 with the comeback on Winnipeg at +110. Toronto has won three straight against Winnipeg although the Jets have been Canada’s best team for over a month. A low total of six also previews this as a potential playoff type of game.

Jets Games Tend To Cash on the ‘Under’, But…
The totals have gone over in five of Winnipeg’s last six games in Toronto. At least one team has hit the four-goal mark in their last six games here. Toronto has scored four or more goals in six of its last seven games against Winnipeg. But their last meeting was not since January 19 of last year (2023).
Winnipeg has become a much better team defensively, hence their move up the NHL rankings. The Jets have allowed the fewest goals this season, which is why over 66% of their games have either gone under the total or pushed (15-24-6) per the NHL odds.
The Jets have not allowed an opponent to score more than three goals in 33 straight games. Boston snapped that streak on Monday and its fourth goal was via an empty-netter.
“That’s probably the worst game we’ve had in a long time with our breakouts,” Rick Bowness said via ESPN. “We were slow-moving it and the passes were soft. That allows Boston to play their game.”
The Jets were held to one goal by a dominant home team. Bowness will not have his team getting used to this. We can bet online the Jets will score more than a goal against the leaky Leafs.
Toronto has a woeful defense. That’s why over 66% of its home games (14-7) have gone over the totals. The Leafs average nearly 3.9 goals at home but give up over 3.6. The team is ranked 30th in its penalty kill at 72.1% and its 5-on-5 save percentage is subpar at just over 90.3% (25th overall).
The total will trend depending on which team can assert its type of action this Wednesday.
Maple Leafs Have Been a Foil for the Jets
And if we believe in recent hockey matchups, it’s leaning toward Toronto. That’s why the Jets vs Maple Leafs match lines had Toronto favored. The favorite has won these matchups in eight of their last 10 games. Toronto was the favorite in seven of these. Winnipeg’s last three wins came as a slight favorite or as an underdog.
More interestingly, the winner of nine of the last 10 games would have covered the -1.5 puck line. Only a 2-1 Toronto win via shootout fell within one goal. The rest were decided by two or more goals. Toronto has outscored Winnipeg 36-26 in this span. The Leafs have also outshot the Jets even if Winnipeg has better special teams play.
Additionally, Winnipeg will be without star center Mark Scheifele. The Jets are 2-2 without “Scheif” and one of these wins came in overtime against Ottawa. Scheifele leads this NHL team with 41 points and is tied for third with 14 goals.
So Winnipeg will need to be more airtight on its defense against Toronto. It can ill-afford to get into a scoring race. A lot is said of Toronto’s blown leads as of late. But at home, Toronto is 5-2 when leading after the first period and 8-2 when leading after the second.
It may be best to keep an eye on the Jets vs Maple Leafs match lines. It should widen considerably if Toronto gets an early lead as Winnipeg is not equipped to make a comeback given their recent play style.
