Dramatic Performances by the Kings
The Los Angeles Kings return to the ice on Tuesday night after a pair of back-and-forth battles leading to victories over the Minnesota Wild and Detroit Red Wings. On Saturday, the Kings scored three goals in the first period to chase veteran goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury out of the game en route to a 7-6 victory in regulation. Kevin Fiala scored a goal and picked up an assist in his first game back against his old club, while fellow forward Adrian Kempe scored a pair and added another assist while veteran winger Anze Kopitar dished out three assists and goalkeeper Cal Petersen made 29 saves on 36 shots faced for the win.
Monday night, the Kings skated into the Motor City to battle the Detroit Red Wings. Once again, Fiala and Kempe struck offensively where a 2-on-1 rush led to the fourth tally of the season for Kempe. Two-way forward Phillip Danault flexed his offensive muscle in this game, scoring twice, once late in the second period and again in the overtime frame, clinching the contest on a shot that was partially deflected by a Detroit defenseman, only to find it’s way behind Red Wings netminder Ville Husso for the game-winner. Jonathan Quick made 29 saves on 33 shots faced for his 14th career victory against Detroit. Expect to see Cal Peterson get the start in net once again for Todd McLellan’s club with this being the second game of a back-to-back stretch.

Seeking Consistency in Music City?
It’s been a tale of two clubs thus far for the Nashville Predators in their NHL regular season start. After picking up two victories over the rebuilding San Jose Sharks across the pond in Prague, the Preds dropped a pair of decisions against division foes, the Dallas Stars, in a Home-and-Home series last Thursday and Saturday.
First at home, the Stars rolled to a 4-1 win thanks in part to a pair of highlight reel goals from forward Mason Marchment and three assists from veteran winger Tyler Seguin. And on Saturday in the return affair in Dallas, the Predators were once again held to just one goal, scored by Nino Niederreiter. Dallas was led by star goalie Jake Oettinger, who made 29 saves over 30 shots faced along with forward Roope Hintz scoring two goals and adding an assist in the 5-1 victory.
