Knights vs Stars Betting Odds: Stars Had Better Buckle Down or Katie, Bar the Door!
VGK With Commanding Lead Heading into Dallas

Our Knights vs Stars betting odds preview starts with a look at all the NHL odds for game three. These two teams were separated by just three points in the NHL standings but it’s Vegas who has flexed on home ice. The Dallas Stars have opened as a -130 favorite, a number that is sure to be bet up with the desperate Stars needing a win. The total is 5.5 (-110) after the first two games produced both an over in game one (4-3 VGK), followed by an under (3-2 VGK) in game two. Dallas is -1.5 (+180), and VGK is +1.5 (-225) on the puck line. We continue our Knights vs Stars betting odds preview by digging deeper into both teams followed by our game three selection.
Vegas Needs One On The Road
We often stated that we’d rather start a playoff series on the road. All a team has to do is take one of the first two games they control the series going back home. The problem comes after losing both games on the road, then you come back with all the pressure of the series on your back in a must-win. That’s where the Dallas Stars are now after dropping two overtime games at the Fortress.
You get the feeling that the road to the Stanley Cup has been paved with a red carpet after the Knights brushed aside the Edmonton Oilers in six. For a team that took on the ‘Cup in Six’ moniker when the franchise was born, Owner Bill Foley’s team may do just that. For a team that the league loved to hate for a short time, going on the road won’t faze them, especially after winning four of five road games in the postseason.
For bettors, Bruce Cassidy’s team has been a money machine no matter where they’ve played, winning 300 units at home (6-2) and 393 units on the rod (4-1). Vegas has a chance to improve on its 3-1 road mark as a dog. Since their birth into the league, no team has been better for the public to have their cash behind than the Knights with 970 units won (36-23) in that span. Montreal is second with 797 units won (15-13) based on a $100 wager. By comparison, Dallas is 18-17 (+81 units) ranking them 12th since the 2016-17 season.
Stars In Familiar Territory
Before we write off the Dallas Stars let’s remember they’ve been here before. The Minnesota Wild had the Stars on the ropes with a 2-1 series lead before Dallas exploded for three straight wins. In two of those games, Pete Deboer’s team were small underdogs.
They pulled the same trick in their seven-game series with the Seattle Kraken, winning three of the last four games after trailing 2-1 in the series. Dallas was no less than -150 favorites in all seven games. Over the Stars’ last five playoff appearances, Dallas is 45-30 overall (+732 units), and 13-10 (-4 units) at home. Don’t read too much into that because 622 of those units came when Dallas played in the bubble in the 2020 playoffs, a year they went through Vegas before losing to the Tampa Bay Lightning in the Stanley Cup Final in six games.
That makes their postseason success for bettors a little less impressive and goaltender Ben Bishop had his last run as one of the best goaltenders in the league. Jake Oettinger is just 8-7 in the postseason, failing to carry his terrific regular season into the playoffs. The Stars must find the old Oettinger in addition to being a little less sloppy with the puck. Let’s conclude our Knights vs Stars betting odds game 3 previews with our game three selection.
Going Against Stars, Dangerous Move
You know we like the Golden Knights in the series, but there are times when your bankroll requires us to use our heads when it comes to betting on individual games. You can bet that this is the best the Stars will play all series. When your money is behind a team who has a devil-may-care attitude in front of their home crowd, you know that your wager is backed by a team that will at least have the emotional edge. If we’re in the Stars locker room, the message is simple. You’re a team that lost two games in a hostile environment in overtime.
The Stars should be confident in knowing that were close to a 2-0 series lead themselves. In the end, the Knights will likely send their former head coach home for the Summer but for one game we’re betting on the Stars. That does it for our Knights vs Stars betting odds preview, we wish you the best with your game three wagers.
