NHL Conn Smythe Award Odds Update
Top Choices to Win The National Hockey League Playoff MVP
As we get closer to the Final Four teams in this year’s Stanley Cup Playoffs, the star players of these clubs are rising to the opportunity of a lifetime, as they look to capture a National Hockey League championship. In this article, we will identify some strong favorites, some good value options as well as a couple of longshots to take home the Playoff MVP award, better known as the Conn Smythe Trophy. Let’s start off the 2024 Conn Smythe Odds update with a look at the favorites on the betting board.
Top Favorites
Connor McDavid (Forward – Edmonton Oilers)
Current Odds: +750
The 27-year old superstar who became one of two players this season and six overall in National Hockey League history to record 100 or more assists in a Regular Season, has continued his helping ways thus far in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, after scoring one goal and eleven assists in the first round series against Los Angeles, the Edmonton captain has one goal and five assists as the Oilers head into a pivotal Game Five matchup against the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday night in their Western Conference Semifinal series
Jake Oettinger (Goaltender – Dallas Stars)
Current Odds: +750
One of the best young netminders in the entire National Hockey League when he’s playing his A-Game is the 25-year old native of Lakeville, Minnesota, Jake Oettinger. The Dallas Stars are just one game away from reaching their second straight Western Conference Final and it’s largely in part to the goaltending of Oettinger, who has won seven of his last ten starts through the first two rounds of the playoffs, shutting down the Vegas Golden Knights in the First Round, and holding his own against a very potent Colorado Avalanche offense in the Conference Semifinals.
Igor Shesterkin (Goaltender – New York Rangers)
Current Odds: +800
Igor Shesterkin has been sensational between the pipes for the New York Rangers this season, posting his third straight season with at least 36 victories, a goals-against average of 2.58, and a save percentage of .912% with four shutouts in 55 starts. After a four-game sweep of the Washington Capitals, the Rangers took a 3-0 series lead on the Carolina Hurricanes before dropping the last two games heading into Game Six on Friday night. It will be up to the Russian netminder if the Blueshirts wish to close this series out in Raleigh and avoid a seventh game in the Conference Semifinal series.
Good Value Options
Wyatt Johnston (Forward – Dallas Stars) +1400
Miro Heiskanen (Defenseman – Dallas Stars) +1500
These two key players for the Dallas Stars have been crucial in the club’s success all season and during the playoffs. For Johnston, the second-year skater who turned 21 hours after his two-goal, three-point performance in Game Four of the Conference Semifinals NHL Scores against the Colorado Avalanche brought his postseason total to 11 points, meanwhile Heiskanen, who has been one of the best defensemen in the league over the last several years, has really heated up with his point production in this series, scoring four goals in the last three games against the Avs, bringing his point total to 13, ranking him second among all defensemen in that category.
Leon Draisaitl (Forward – Edmonton Oilers)
Current Odds: +1400
The 28-year old Cologne, Germany native leads the league in points during the Stanley Cup Playoffs for his Edmonton Oilers, but sometimes, when looking at this particular 2024 Conn Smythe Odds award, we often see this turn into a popularity contests amongst voters. If the Oilers should make it into the Stanley Cup Final and win the series, the spotlight will be turned more on captain Connor McDavid, like it usually is in Edmonton. This is reflected in the pricing of McDavid at +750 and Draisaitl at nearly double the price at +1400
Longshot Choices
Sergei Bobrovsky (Goaltender – Florida Panthers)
Current Odds: +2200
The 14-year veteran has been rock solid for the Florida Panthers, who are now just one victory away from beating the Boston Bruins for the second straight year in the playoffs, along with making the Eastern Conference Finals once again. The 35-year old Bobrovsky has held the B’s to two goals or fewer in the last four contests. With a 2.51 goals-against average, a .896% save percentage, and seven victories, this wager would be a better value option if you like the Florida Panthers to win the Stanley Cup NHL picks today.
Nathan MacKinnon (Forward – Colorado Avalanche)
Current Odds: +2500
The Halifax, Nova Scotia native not only led his Avalanche with career-high marks of 51 goals and 140 points this season, but he also lead the entire National Hockey League in shots on goal with 405. This postseason, “Nate Dogg” has been on fire, leading the club in points with four goals and ten assists. This is a risky play with Colorado a game away from elimination as they play Game Six at home on Friday night, but if you like the Avs to comeback and win this series en route to a Stanley Cup title, you can find big betting value in this selection.
