NHL: Kraken vs Coyotes Betting Preview
Kraken play their second of back-to-back games after a crushing loss to Vegas

If there was any playoff light left, the Seattle Kraken (28-28-12, 68 points) needed to march into the ‘Fortress’ and steal 2-points from the Vegas Golden Knights. Instead, they dropped a 3-1 decision to fall 13 points behind the Knights for the last wild card in the NHL standings. Game over for Seattle. Speaking of which, the Arizona Coyotes (28-36-5, 61 points) have once again turned to where they’re going to play instead in the upcoming seasons after losing 19 of their last 24 games.
Oddsmakers have made the Coyotes and Kraken -110 each way with a total of 5.5 (over -1200. Puck-drop is scheduled for 10:00 p.m. ET / 7:00 p.m. PT from Mullet Arena and can be seen on Root Sports Northwest and the SCRIPPS Network. It’s not the most exciting hockey game tonight, but we’ll add some spice with a solid wager on the side. We start our Kraken vs Coyotes betting preview with a deeper look at the league’s newest team.Â
Kraken vs Coyotes
Location: Mullet Arena
Day/Time:
Seattle Lacks Killer Instinct
When Seattle tied what was a must-win affair in Vegas at 1-1 with a Jaden Schwartz goal at 13:29 of the third period, we said to ourselves that if the Kraken managed to take victory from the jaws of defeat on the road, this could be a turning point in their season. The jaws of reality came crashing down on Seattle when Keegan Kolesar tallied the go-ahead goal with just 1:20 left to give the defending Stanley Cup Champions a 2-1 lead, and that was all she wrote for the Seattle Kraken in 2023-24. It was obvious that if the Kraken were to come back and win, that would set the tone for putting our money behind them for the rest of the season because the team still had moxy.
Instead, they own a six-game winless streak and the guys will start playing for NHL reference numbers beginning tonight. Seattle drops to 26th in the league with 11.77 units lost. Since January 1st, the Kraken are 9-14 (-4.29 units). Lifetime against Arizona, Seattle has won four of seven meetings (-1.12 units).
Coyotes Shift To Winning Off The Ice
Having the Arizona Coyotes on the schedule may be the best thing to happen to the Seattle Kraken, who have officially drowned in a sea of teams ahead of them in the West. The only immediate culture that may be worse than theirs is the Coyotes, who are more focused on winning a bid for a strip of overpriced land that could be the home of a new arena. The league doesn’t want to lose the fifth biggest market, but at this point, it’s embarrassing every time they drop the puck at the home of the Arizona State Sun Devils. If ASU Head Coach Greg Powers were being honest, he would tell you he would rather the team not be at his arena despite the money they’ve put into upgrades.
The ‘Yotes have one legitimate scoring threat in Clayton Keller (28G, 32A, 60 points), who is grossly underpaid with four years left on his 7.5 million dollar deal. This season, the Coyotes are -10.21 units after a decent first half of the season and have been competitive at home (17-16, +1.26 units) and are 16-14 (+1.69 units) against teams under .500. That’s the good news. The bad news is that every time they play a team, they can gain some momentum against the team, but they usually fail, compiling a 12-27 record against teams .500 or better.Â
Seattle Getting Early Love
There have been very few tickets written for this match-up, but it appears as if Seattle will be getting the majority of the money after the Kraken opens, as high as -118 in some spots. Expect Joey Daccord (17-15-10, 2.52, .917) to get the start for Seattle against Connor Ingram (19-18-3, 2.87, .908) for Arizona. We will be on Seattle and the small price, but not with the kind of confidence we’ve had with other plays. If Seattle doesn’t win this one, they may be an automatic go-against the rest of the season. That does it for our Kraken vs Coyotes betting preview, we wish you all the best with your NHL picks and parlays this weekend.
