The National Hockey League saw an action-packed night on the ice Thursday with 12 games on the docket, NHL Thursday games recap saw plenty of solid results for the bettors and the sportsbooks. Let’s take a look at last night’s NHL scores games in review.

Results: TOR wins 6-2

Forward Auston Matthews scored two goals to lead the Toronto Maple Leafs to a 6-2 road win over the Florida Panthers on Thursday evening. Wingers Mitch Marner and William Nylander each scored a goal and an assist, while John Tavares notched three assists.

Goalie Matt Murray picked up his 14th win of the season, making 33 saves on 35 shots faced. Toronto has now earned at least one point in seven of the last ten games while Florida still trails the Pittsburgh Penguins by one point for the second and final Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference.

Results: DAL wins 3-2
NHL Over/Under: 6.5 Under -115, Pitt +130/DAL -150

Goaltender Jake Oettinger made 40 saves on 42 shots to lead the Dallas Stars to a 3-2 home victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins. Forwards Jamie Benn and Joe Pavelski each scored goals in the third period while Roope Hintz scored early in the contest for Dallas, who now leads the Central Division with 92 points, just one above the Minnesota Wild.

Pittsburgh has lost five of their last six games, but still hold the second and final Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference with 80 points, just one point ahead of the Florida Panthers. Forward Sidney Crosby scored for the first time in 13 games at American Airlines Center, giving him at least one goal in all 31 arenas around the league for his career.

Results: NYR wins 2-1
NHL Over/Under: 5.5 Under -120, NYR +125/CAR -145

The Carolina Hurricanes will have to wait one more game to officially clinch a playoff berth after losing 3-1 to the New York Rangers on Thursday night. It’s the second straight game against the Blueshirts, who they beat 3-2 on Tuesday night at Madison Square Garden.

Defenseman Adam Fox scored his first goal in 24 games, while forward Artemi Panarin scored his 24th goal of the season and winger Mika Zibanejad notched two assists. With the loss, Carolina has now dropped four of their last seven games while New York has earned at least one point in eight of their last nine contests overall.

Results: PHI wins 5-4 in Shootout
NHL Over/Under: 5.5 Over -115, Minn -150/PHI +130

Goaltender Carter Hart made 20 saves on 24 shots faced in regulation and overtime, before stopping all three shots faced in the shootout to earn his 20th victory of the season for the Philadelphia Flyers, beating the Minnesota Wild by a final score of 5-4.

Head Coach John Tortorella recorded his 700th career victory behind the bench, the 12th coach in National Hockey League history to reach that mark and just the second American-born coach to accomplish that feat, along with Washington Capitals coach Peter Laviolette. Forward Joel Farabee scored a goal and an assist while defenseman Tony DeAngelo picked up a pair of assists.

Forward Matt Boldy scored twice for Minnesota and nearly ended the game with a backhand shot that just missed the net in the overtime session. Goalie Marc-Andre Fleury made 30 saves on 34 shots in regulation and overtime despite the losing effort.

  • Defenseman John Carlson, who missed nearly three months of action recovering from a skull fracture, scored a goal in his return for the Washington Capitals, who put away the Chicago Blackhawks 6-1 as large home favorites. Alex Ovechkin and Nicklas Backstrom each picked up a goal and an assist while forward Dylan Strome recorded two assists. Goalie Darcy Kuemper made 27 saves on 28 shots faced for the victory, which was the Caps’ ninth win in the last eleven meetings against Chicago.
  • Forwards Alex DeBrincat and Brady Tkachuk each scored two goals as the Ottawa Senators trounced the Tampa Bay Lightning by a 7-2 final score. Goaltender Mags Sogaard won his first career start in goal, making 27 saves on 29 shots faced. This is just Ottawa’s second victory in their last eight games, while Tampa Bay continues to struggle, losing ten of their last 15 games overall.
  • Winger David Pastrnak scored his 49th goal of the year while Tyler Bertuzzi scored his first goal as a member of the Boston Bruins as they beat their rival, the Montreal Canadiens by a score of 4-2 for their fifth straight win. Goalie Jeremy Swayman made 29 saves on 31 shots faced for his 19th victory. The netminder has held opponents to two goals or fewer in his last three starts combined. Forward Jake DeBrusk also scored while Connor Clifton picked up a pair of assists for the Bruins.
  • Goalie Joel Hofer continues to shine between the pipes for the St. Louis Blues, making 25 saves on 28 shots faced in a 4-3 comeback win over the Detroit Red Wings as road underdogs on Thursday night. Detroit scored two goals in the first 90 seconds of play, but thanks to big saves from Hofer and a goal from Alexei Toropchenko to cut the lead midway into the period, the Blues were able to rally with a second period shot from veteran Brayden Schenn. Forward Jake Neighbours fired home the eventual game-winner later in the middle frame, and despite the Red Wings’ goal late by Alex Chiasson, they would fall short for their forth loss in the last five games.
  • Forwards Matt Duchene and Philip Tomasino scored both goals in regulation as the Nashville Predators beat the Seattle Kraken 2-1 as they try to pull closer to the final Wild Card spot in the Western Conference, while Seattle still sits in the first Wild Card spot six points ahead of the Preds. Kraken netminder Joey Daccord played well despite the loss, making 23 saves on 24 shots faced, while forward Daniel Sprong scored the lone goal, his 18th goal of the year.
