NHL Tuesday Games Recap: January 24th, 2023

With a big slate of National Hockey League action with 11 games on the docket, NHL Tuesday games recap saw several high-scoring games and overtime affairs for bettors and the books. Let’s take a look at last night’s NHL scores games in review.

Results: Penguins wins 7-6 in OT
NHL Over/Under: O/U 6.5 Over -125, PIT -160/FLA +140

The Florida Panthers and Pittsburgh Penguins combine for 88 shots on goal as the Penguins won 7-6 in Overtime as moderate favorites, with the game easily flying Over the total.

Defenseman Kris Letang scored two goals, including the game-winner in the extra session. Florida goalie Alex Lyon made 42 saves as he started for the second straight night, while Pittsburgh netminder Casey DeSmith earned the win in an emergency start, making 33 saves.

Forwards Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin each had a goal and two assists. Four of the last five Pittsburgh Penguins games have now gone into Overtime or a Shootout.

NHL Over/Under: O/U 6.5 Under -110, SJ +120/DET -140

Forward Andrew Copp scored just 25 seconds into Overtime to give Detroit Red Wings a 3-2 home win as favorites. San Jose Sharks All-Star Erik Karlsson had two assists while Goalie James Reimer made 30 saves on 33 shots faced in the losing effort. San Jose has now lost 14 of their last 18 games overall, including a 2-8 mark in their last ten road games.

Results: TB wins 4-2
NHL Over/Under: O/U 6 Over -120, Minn +135/TB -160

Tampa Bay Lightning picks up two points at home as favorites, beating the Minnesota Wild by a score of 4-2. Veteran Corey Perry scored twice, including a power-play goal while Alex Killorn, Russ Colton and Mikhail Sergachev each had two assists. Goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy made 33 saves on 35 shots for his 21st victory of the year. Tampa has now won six of their last eight games while the Minnesota Wild have dropped three games in a row.

Other News & Notes Around the League

The Boston Bruins continue to dominate the NHL, beating their rivals, the Montreal Canadiens 4-2. Forward David Pastrnak scored a goal and added three assists.

The B’s have now won six straight games and ten of their last 11 overall. Boston has now set a record for the fastest NHL team in National Hockey League history to reach 80 points in the standings in just 47 games played.

Kirby Dach had two assists for Montreal, who suffered just their second defeat in the last five contests. Goaltender Sam Montembeault made 25 saves on 28 shots faced.

Forward Kevin Fiala scored the game-winning goal for Los Angeles Kings as the Kings pick up a 4-3 overtime win on the road against the Philadelphia Flyers. Goaltender Pheonix Copley made 31 saves over 34 shots faced for his 13th win of the NHL season.

Tage Thompson continues to dazzle for the Buffalo Sabres as he scores his 33rd goal of the season in a 5-3 win over the St. Louis Blues. Rookie Owen Power scored for the second straight game and goalie Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen made 26 saves on 29a shots as the Sabres cash in as +120 road underdogs.

Defenseman Dougie Hamilton scored a pair of goals, including the winner in overtime as the New Jersey Devils take down the Vegas Golden Knights 3-2 as large home favorites.

The Devils are heating up again, winning seven of their last eight games overall, while Vegas has now dropped six of their last eight contests. Devils netminder Vitek Vanecek made 28 saves over 30 shots faced for the win.
