The National Hockey League had just three games on the slate for Monday, but all three contests involved teams looking to adjust and solidify playoff positioning within the Western Conference. Let’s take a quick glance at some of the action and NHL Monday scores games in review in this NHL Playoff Update
The Vegas Golden Knights beat the Minnesota Wild 4-3 in a shootout on Monday night in Saint Paul as short road underdogs. Forward Pavel Dorofeyev scored two goals, including one with 34 seconds left to send the game into overtime.
Dorofeyev also scored a goal in the shootout. Winger William Karlsson picked up a pair of assists while goaltender Laurent Brossoit made 30 saves on 33 shots faced in regulation and overtime.
The Golden Knights have won ten of their last 13 games and with five games remaining, with four of them against playoff qualifing clubs, including a massive home showdown with the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday and a home-and-home series with the Seattle Kraken to wrap up the season.
The Minnesota Wild clinched a playoff berth for the tenth time in eleven season with the point earned past regulation along with the Nashville Predators’ regulation loss to the Dallas Stars.
Forward Jason Robertson became the first player in Stars franchise history since Dino Ciccarelli in 1986-87 to record over 100 points in a season after scoring a goal and three assists in Dallas’ 5-1 win over the Nashville Predators on Monday night.
Veteran winger Joe Pavelski scored a goal and an assist while goalie Scott Wedgewood returned from injury and made 26 saves on 27 shots faced for the victory, which officially clinched a playoff berth for Dallas and now pulling them into a tie with the Minnesota Wild for first place in the National Hockey League Central Division with each team having five games remaining to play in the season.
The Seattle Kraken blowout the Arizona Coyotes 8-1 on Monday night at home, extending their lead to three points over the Winnipeg Jets and five points over the Calgary Flames, who sit outside the Wild Card picture in the Western Conference.
Seven different Kraken skaters scored in the game including forward Jared McCann scoring twice in her 500th career National Hockey League game. Forwards Daniel Sprong, Justin Schultz and defenseman Vince Dunn each picked up two assists. It’s the eighth straight loss for Arizona, who got a goal from Lawson Crouse.
