It was a super busy night in the National Hockey League with 13 games on the docket, NHL Tuesday games recap saw some interesting results for bettors and the sportsbooks. Let’s take a closer look into last night’s NHL scores with this review.

Results: CAR wins 3-2
NHL Over/Under: 6 Under -115, CAR -110/NYR -110

The Carolina Hurricanes scored two goals late in the third period to beat the New York Rangers on the road in a 3-2 final. Forward Teuvo Teravainen scored the game-winning goal with less than three minutes left in regulation for his eleventh goal of the year. Winger Stefan Noesen scored along with Jalen Chatfield for Carolina, who have now won two of their last three games overall.

Results: PHI wins 6-3
NHL Over/Under: 6.5 Over -120, FLA -160/PHI +140

The Philadelphia Flyers upset the Florida Panthers in a blowout as home underdogs, winning 6-3 on Tuesday night. Defenseman Travis Sandheim scored a pair of goals while Joel Farabee and Morgan Frost each had a goal and assist on the night. Goaltender Carter Hart made 41 saves on 44 shots faced for the victory, his 19th on the season. Forward Matthew Tkachuk scored a goal while Aleksander Barkov notched two assists. Florida’s three game winning streak was snapped, but they still hold the second and final Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference with 79 points, one more than the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Results: CBJ wins 7-6 in Overtime

Superstar Alex Ovechkin scored his 40th goal of the season for the 13th time in his career, passing Wayne Gretzky for the most 40+ goal seasons in National Hockey League history, but it wasn’t enough for the Washington Capitals, who lost 7-6 in overtime on Tuesday night to the lowly Columbus Blue Jackets, who snapped a three-game losing streak at the end of a five-game road trip. Center Jack Roslovic and Defenseman Adam Boqvist each scored two goals while forward Boone Jenner scored his 24th goal of the season. Goaltender Daniil Tarasov made 31 saves on 37 shots to earn his fifth victory of the season. Johnny Gaudreau, Kent Johnson and Patrik Laine each recorded two assists for the Blue Jackets.

Results: NYI wins 7-2
NHL Over/Under: 5.5 Over -120, TOR -115/NYI +105

The New York Islanders exploded for seven goals in a home victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday, winning 7-2. Forward Cal Clutterbuck scored a pair of goals along with forwards Anders Lee, Zach Parise, Simon Holmstrom and Hudson Fasching. Goaltender Ilya Sorokin gets his 26th victory of the season, making 25 saves on 27 shots faced. The Islanders have now won three straight games and have earned at least one point in seven of their last nine games overall, while Toronto has lost three of their last five contests overall.

Results: CGY wins 5-1
NHL Over/Under: 6.5 Under -110, CGY -200/ANA +185

The Calgary Flames quickly rebounded from Monday night’s 8-2 blowout against the Los Angeles Kings with a 5-2 victory on Tuesday in Anaheim on the continuation of this California trip for coach Darryl Sutter’s club. Forward Elias Lindholm scored his 21st goal of the season on the power-play while Nick Richie and Rasmus Andersson also scored for the Flames, who have now earned at least one point in five of their last six games as they sit four points behind the Winnipeg Jets for the second and final Wild Card spot in the Western Conference.

Other News and Notes from Around the League

  • Forward Matt Boldy scored the game-winning goal with 0.2 tenths of a second in overtime to give the Minnesota Wild a 2-1 win over the New Jersey Devils. Wild forward Mason Shaw and Devils winger Timo Meier both scored the only goals of regulation. Minnesota has now earned points in 15 of their last 16 games overall and now sit in first place in the Central Division with 90 points.
  • The Nashville Predators ended a three-game losing streak with a 7-3 road win over the Buffalo Sabres. Forward Luke Evangelista scored a pair of goals while Matt Duchene scored another two goals along with an assist. Goaltender Jusse Saros made 28 saves on 31 shots faced for the victory. With the loss, Buffalo has dropped four straight games and ten of their last twelve contests overall.
  • The Winnipeg Jets slowed down the Arizona Coyotes in a 2-1 victory on the road on Tuesday night. Forward Adam Lowry and defenseman Nikolaj Ehlers scored for the Jets in the first period and goaltender Connor Hellebuyck shut things down, making 29 saves on 30 shots faced for the win. With the victory, Winnipeg has now won the last three meetings against Arizona, who had their four game winning streak snapped.
  • Goalie Linus Ullmark made 40 saves on 41 shots faced in another victory for the Boston Bruins, who beat the Ottawa Senators 3-2 in a tightly battled contest. Forwards Jake DeBrusk and David Krejci scored in the first period for the Bruins, and that would be all the scoring they needed for the win, which is their forth in a row. Ottawa has now lost six of their last seven games, dropping them further down in the Eastern Conference Wild Card race.
  • Winger Lucas Raymond scored the only goal in the shootout to give the Detroit Red Wings a 3-2 win over the slumping St. Louis Blues. Filip Zadina and Alex Chiasson scored for Detroit in regulation while Robert Bortuzzo and Marco Scandella scored for the Blues, with all four regulation goals coming in the first period. Goalie Magnus Hellberg made 20 saves on 22 shots faced for his fifth win on the year. The Blues have now lost three of their last five games overall as their playoff hopes start to dwindle.
