NHL Tuesday Playoff Update With Three Days Left
Massive Games Remain With Three Divisions Yet to Be Decided

Friday will be the last day of the NHL regular season, but with just a few games left, there is still plenty to be decided. Let’s take a look the NHL Tuesday Results and where that leaves each division with the finish line in sight. With one game left for most teams, every division except the Atlantic has yet to be decided, making this one of the best seasons in NHL history.
The Boston Bruins have already wrapped up the best season in NHL history with 133 points, which is a great story in itself because there’s so much more to dive into other than NHL player stats with Jim Montgomery’s team. We shall see if they can break the long tradition of Presidents Trophy winners finding a difficult path in the postseason. In the meantime let’s break down what’s left for each unsettled division.
Hurricanes Slide Leaving Devils One Point Behind
After NHL Tuesday Results, the New Jersey Devils still own the first tiebreaker, for now. Thursday’s regular-season finale at the Washington Capitals could mean their first division title since 2010. The Carolina Hurricanes own a one-point lead with one game left in Sunrise, Florida against the Panthers who also need the win as they are battling for wild card positioning.
That could play into the hands of the Devils who will face a Caps team that will likely be looking towards going home rather than spoiling the Devils’ hopes of a division title. There is a scenario where we could go deep into the tie-breakers to determine a division winner. The Devils own the first tie-breaker with 39 regulation win to the Hurricanes 38.
After, the tiebreaker falls to head-to-head match-ups, a clear advantage for the Hurricanes who won 4 of the five match-ups this season. Bottom line is, New Jersey needs to beat the Capitals in regulation and hope the Hurricanes lose to the Panthers. Overall, we predicted that the Devils would win the division and we still feel that’s the way it will play out.
Central Division Down To Two Teams
The Minnesota Wild have been officially eliminated from winning the Central Division after a 3-1 loss to the Winnipeg Jets, Tuesday. That leaves the Colorado Avalanche with 105 points and the Dallas Stars with 104 points with two games left for each.
Dallas has won four straight games to stay pace with Jared Bednar’s team who is 8-1-1 in their last 10 games. The Stars were our pick to win this division and they still could with a winnable two games against the St. Louis Blues, while the Avalanche has games against the Winnipeg Jets and Nashville Predators.
The Predators have been eliminated from playoff contention and the Jets can’t move up or down as they are locked into the last playoff spot and a likely date with the Vegas Golden Knights.
That doesn’t mean that the Jets will just glide into the postseason. Last night’s NHL scores show us that the Jets will be formidable opponents for the Avalanche after beating the Wild who needed the win. Let’s see how NHL Tuesday Results affected the Pacific Division.
Golden Knights in Position to Win Pacific Crown
The schedule didn’t look for the Golden Knights, especially with the Edmonton Oilers‘ upcoming games that all but opened the door for the Oilers to win the Pacific. Despite the difficult task ahead of Bruce Cassidy’s team, they knew they had to keep winning and that’s exactly what they’ve done.
With four wins in six games against playoff teams, the Knights have one game remaining against the Seattle Kraken to seal up the Pacific Division for the third time in six seasons. The last eight games for the Oilers included two matchups against the Anaheim Ducks and one against the San Jose Sharks and Arizona Coyotes.
The San Jose Sharks will visit Edmonton to finish off the regular season. Even if Edmonton fails to win the division, we feel as if Jay Woodcroft’s team is still the best team in the Pacific and will go deeper than the Knights.
There was plantly on the line before we knew NHL Tuesday Results, they’ll be plenty more on Wednesday and Thursday.
