NHL Tuesday Recap: Bettors Lose Big With Canucks

Another Massive Night For Books

Going through last night’s NHL betting odds, it’s clear that our NHL Tuesday game recap will be more of the same for our monitored sportsbooks. The books had a massive night with the St. Louis Blues and Nashville Predators getting outright wins. NHL betting has been difficult for the public this season and it seems as if it’s getting worse down the stretch. Let’s go through a few key games from Tuesday’s card and see where the public may have made a mistake in their thinking.

Bettors Lose Big With Canucks

We’re not sure where the confidence came from with the Vancouver Canucks last night. But money poured into the tune of 97% of the money and 66% of the total tickets had Vancouver as their winner.

The success of both teams against the moneyline has been as close as you could possibly get with Vancouver down $67.00 if you bet $100 on every Canucks game and the Blues down $106. There was no perceived mismatch in goal with Jordan Binnington starting for the Blues and Thatcher Demko for the Canucks.

The win wasn’t easy for the books after a 5-3 third-period lead evaporated after Quinn Hughes tied it at 5-5 for the Canucks with 54 seconds left. Both books and players were sweating until the Blues’ Jakub Vrana scored for the second time on the night to give St. Louis the 6-5 victory in overtime. St. Louis has now won five of their last seven games with four straight cashing over tickets.

Vancouver suffered their first loss in three games. Let’s turn our NHL Tuesday recap into another winner for the book that carried heavy emotion for one team.

Motivated Predators Win For Nashville

You knew you were going to get the best from the Nashville Predators in light of the recent events in the city of Nashville and the results spoke for themselves. The league’s top team received 91% of the public money even though the Boston Bruins were a massive -300 favorite.

Cody Glass scored at the 18:11 mark of the second period to draw first blood and Cole Smith added another in the third to beat Boston 2-1. Preds goaltender Juuse Saros was the start of the night with 35 saves in a game that was dominated by Boston. It was the first win for Nashville after consecutive losses to Toronto and Seattle.

The Predators have won three of their last five. Boston who have clinched the Atlantic Division, lost for the first time in seven games with four of their last five games cashing under tickets. Let’s continue our NHL Tuesday recap with a game the public did win and won easily.

Public Scores Win With Rangers

The New York Rangers kept rolling along for bettors with an easy 6-2 win against the Columbus Blue Jackets. It’s not a secret that this is a Jackets team that appears to be off for the Summer already after losing five of their last seven games, with the two they won against the New York Islanders and Washington Capitals, coming in overtime.

New York was massive -375 favorites but that didn’t stop the public who didn’t chase big underdogs on Tuesday. Gerard Gallant’s team scored three unanswered goals in the first period and never looked back. Five different Rangers scored including the winner by Patrick Kane in the first to give New York a 3-0 lead with 12:00 gone in the first. We never recommend playing -300 favorites but hopefully, most of these wagers had New York buried on a parlay.

That does it for our Tuesday recap, overall the books and the public split the ten games, but that is good enough for the books who won the bigger decisions.
