NHL Weekend Game Odds & Analysis
NHL Saturday Means Fantastic Betting Options

We kick off the NHL weekend game odds preview by heading down South where the Los Angeles Kings (27-17-6, 60 points) and the Tampa Bay Lightning (31-15-1, 63 points) highlight an incredible Saturday schedule. We’ll dig deeper into a few betting angles in that one in addition to the Boston Bruins (38-6-4, 80 points) and the Florida Panthers (23-21-6, 52 points) where the B’s will play the first of back-to-back games.
We’ll examine NHL betting lines and a few NHL injury updates for you to make the sharpest bets this weekend.
Must-Watch Television
Boston Bruins at Florida Panthers
Date & Time:
Streaming: NESN, BFLX
Moneyline: Bruins -150, Panthers +125
O/U: BOS 20-23/ FLA 27-18
Total: BOS -1000 Units ML, FLA +2023 Units ML
Puckline: Bruins -1.5, Panthers +1.5
Not only are the Boston Bruins the best team in hockey, but they’ve also owned the Florida Panthers winning 36 of their last 53 meetings. That’s saying something considering how good the Panthers were a year ago. Their success can be counted on at home or on the road, with Boston winning 19 of their last 28 meetings in Sunrise.
The difficulty for Bruins bettors is knowing when to lay a moneyline that is going to be inflated for the rest of the season. One sure bet is the fact that Boston will have a rare chip on their shoulder after dropping a 3-2 decision to the defending Eastern Conference champion Tampa Bay Lightning.
Boston is the league’s highest-scoring offense with over 3.8 goals per game and allows just over two goals a game. There may be a better way to have this team on your betting card and that is simply to have them in regulation.
That will make a monster dent in their opening number, but in this case, -150 isn’t a lot to lay with a team of this caliber. Take the Bruins before they sink their teeth into the Carolina Hurricanes, Sunday.
Los Angeles Kings at Florida Panthers
Date & Time:
Streaming: NESN, BFLX
O/U: LAS 26-21/ FLA 27-18
Moneyline: LAS +120 /FLA -140
Total: LAS -498/ FLA -1000
Puckline: LAS+1½ -210 / FLA -1½ +175
The Los Angeles Kings have a busy weekend ahead of them with a game against the Florida Panthers, Friday, and a showdown with the Tampa Bay Lightning, Saturday. Los Angeles has won six of their last 10 but is feeling more unpredictable than a team you can bet on or against consistently.
After losing three straight in games they were expected to win, with Nashville Predators maybe being the only exception, they’ve come back to beat the Philadelphia Flyers and the Chicago Blackhawks. These two are not exactly NHL teams that will help you turn a mental corner; it does, however, set up for what should be a focused performance against Tampa who likely is feeling good about themselves after being one of the few teams to beat Boston in regulation.
Let’s take the Kings in this one because it’s the middle of the NHL season and we still have not figured out the Panthers’ identity which was ripped from them in the offseason.
Ice Chips
Buffalo Sabres at Minnesota Wild
Date & Time:
Streaming: MSGB, BSN, ESPN+
Points: BUF (26-19-3) / MIN (26-17-4)
Total: BUF 55 / MIN 56
Puckline: BUF+1½ -160 / MIN -1½ +140
Moneyline: BUF +160 / MIN -180
The Sabres are fresh off an impressive win against the Winnipeg Jets on Thursday, but we get the feeling they’re still a year or two away. They are quietly one of the best offensive teams in the league with Boston but still fail to give us a feeling of comfort defensively.
After impressive wins as a dog against the Jets and the St. Louis Blues, we think they’ll be grounded against the Wild who are searching for a quality win. You will see the contrast between how the Wild play in their own end versus a team that is still in the lower half of the league in shots allowed (32.8) and penalty kills at 73.8%. Take the Wild in a game they need before the break.
Remember, the weekend is when you will see the NHL public flock towards the favorites because there are more novices betting. If you like the dog wait until the last minute, especially when it involves public teams because it’s likely you’ll get a better number right before the puck drops.
The overs will also be inflated because weekend bettors’ NHL score predictions will always be on the high end and players always gravitate towards the over in addition to the favorite.
All the best this weekend.
