Panthers vs Bruins Betting Odds: Analysis, Breakdown, Best Bets

Both Teams Put Perfect 2-0 Start on Line in First Atlantic Division Clash

Panthers vs Bruins Betting Odds Preview: Most NHL betting odds and predictions columns present a clear-cut winner to us, but this one is a little tricky with the Panthers opening up as -130 road favorites. To the seasoned eye, this might be a mistake to give the talented Bruins such a big plus money price at home. A daily trip around the NHL scoreboard will tell you that parity is at an all-time high, making this a difficult betting decision.

Panthers End Three-Game Road Trip in Boston

One of the reasons why the Panthers vs Bruins betting odds are in favor of the Panthers is their record on the road over the last three seasons. Since 2019, Florida is 61-44 (58.10%) +509 units when playing away from home, Only five other teams (Capitals, Rangers, Oilers, Hurricanes, and Flames) have won more units for bettors in that span. Strangely enough, Florida has visited Boston just three times over the last two non-covid seasons, winning twice.

Historically, Florida has had problems in Beantown losing 20 of their last 32 meetings. This is just the third time in franchise history that Florida has won their first two road games to start the season. The Panthers are fresh off a 4-3 win against the Buffalo Sabres, a game where head coach Paul Maurice applauded the team’s special teams’ play while allowing just 27 Sabres shots.

Maurice’s teams have performed well for bettors with a 205-168 (+1272 units) dating back to 2017 in Winnipeg. Only four other coaches have won more for the betting public than Maurice over the last six seasons (Cooper, Berube, Evason, Gallant).

Bruins Adds Another Major Injury

In Boston’s two wins against the Washington Capitals and the Florida Panthers, it’s clear that until Brad Marchand comes back that Jim Montogomery’s team will be looking for a different hero every night. Marchand did skate with the team Monday, but his target date for a return is still late November after a double hip surgery.

Until then Montogomery will be more than happy to receive scoring help from guys like rookie 4th-liner Jakub Lauko and veteran Pavel Zacha who is a guy who will give you 10-15 goals a season. No one is benefitting more from the Marchand absence than Zacha who is playing second-line minutes.

Another reason the Panthers and Bruins betting odds are skewed towards Florida is Boston’s loss of defensemen Brandon Carlo (Upper Body) who was placed on IR. Jake DeBrusk (Upper Body) was hurt against the Capitals and is listed as day-to-day. NHL Injuries are clearly the reason why the Panthers are a definitive favorite today.

Bettors Undeterred By Injuries

To conclude our Panthers vs Bruins betting odds preview, it was shocking to see early betting patterns favor the Bruins. Truth is, we were hoping that the public would pound the Panthers giving us an even better plus-money opportunity. So far, 64% of the early money is coming in on Boston and even more on the B’s on the puck line (91%).

A quick look around the NHL scores and odds page shows that there are shops out there offering Boston plus money as high as +129.

This trend may not go much deeper than the Bruin’s success against the Panthers over the years, losing 36 of 51 meetings and 17 of 22 at the TD Garden Arena. Our official recommendation is to go with the plus money in this one. Unfortunately, it appears as if we’re not going to get a better price with an avalanche of Panther money. A quick look around the NHL scores and odds page shows that there are shops out there offering Boston plus money as high as +129.
