Rangers Looking Rough & Raggedy

The New York Rangers are coming off of a 6-4 victory on Monday night against the St. Louis Blues, another club that has been going through it’s fair share of struggles on the early campaign. Forwards Alexis LaFreniere and Vincent Trocheck each scored a goal and assist, while sniper Artemi Panarin chipped in with a pair of assists, which brings his club-leading total to 24 assists over 30 total points on the season.

Goaltender Igor Shesterkin got the victory, making 25 shots on 29 saves faced. The Rangers have been so reliant on the reigning Vezina Trophy winner because his backup, the aging veteran Jaroslav Halak, has really struggled this season with an 0-6-1 record in seven starts.

Head Coach Gerald Gallant and General Manager Chris Drury will have to make some sort of change with the backup role if the Blueshirts are going to climb out of their current position in the NHL Standings and get into the playoff race this season.

New York has lost five of their last seven games overall and are currently tied for the second and final spot in the Wild Card standings as of now with 29 points heading into Wednesday’s contest with the Vegas Golden Knights.

Golden Knights Continue to Shine at Home

The Vegas Golden Knights are still sitting atop the Pacific Division with 39 points and have been one of the biggest surprises in this NHL Season. Currently on a 14-6 run in their last 20 games, Vegas beat the Boston Bruins on Monday night by a final score of 4-3 in a shootout. With the loss, Boston suffered their first defeat at home this season, ending a league-record 14 consecutive wins at home to start a season.

Centerman Paul Cotter scored a pair of goals and continues to be developing a strong offensive force in the Golden Knights lineup, despite playing bottom-six minutes most nights. Forward Reilly Smith scored the only goal in the tenth round of the shootout to secure the victory, while goaltender Logan Thompson made 40 saves on 43 shots in regulation and overtime, while stopping all five shootout attempts to earn his 13th victory of the season.

Rangers vs Golden Knights Betting Odds

Sportsbooks have the hosting Vegas Golden Knights odds to win as large favorites against the visiting New York Rangers on Wednesday night priced in the range around -150 to -160.

For New York, it’s their fifth game of the season as an underdog, with the Rangers splitting their first four contests when lined at plus money. The Rangers have lost five of their last seven games overall and have lost six of the last eight meetings against the Golden Knights. Vegas has won 14 of their last 20 games overall, and are currently on an 11-1 straight-up run in their last 12 games against Eastern Conference opponents.

The total for this contest is set at 6.5 goals shaded slightly to the Under around the pick’em range between -110 to -120.

Concluding our Rangers vs Knights Betting Preview: The total for this contest is set at 6.5 goals shaded slightly to the Under around the pick’em range between -110 to -120. Vegas has been an Under machine at home, going 10-1-1 to the Under at T-Mobile Arena this season, along with five of their last seven games overall cashing Under the total. New York has gone Over the total in four of their last six games, largely in part to their issues in goal and on the blue-line.
