Brazil Favored Over U.S. in Olympic Women’s Beach Volleyball
U.S. Reigning Champion in Women's Olympic Beach Volleyball

The United States has enjoyed unprecedented success in Olympic beach volleyball, having medaled in seven straight Summer Games since the sport was added in 1996. Alix Klineman teamed with April Ross to win gold on the women’s side at the 2020 Tokyo Games, defeating Australia’s Mariafe Artacho del Solar and Taliqua Clancy.
Expectations remain high for the Americans in Paris, with two of the top three favorites representing the Stars and Stripes.
The Olympic volleyball schedule begins Sunday, with pool play next to the historic Eiffel Tower.
Here’s a closer look at the women’s Olympic beach volleyball odds.
THE FAVORITE
Ana Patricia Ramos & Duda Lisboa (Brazil) +150
When this tandem is at the top of its game, it’s practically impossible to beat. The results speak for themselves: nine gold medals, three silvers, and five bronze since 2022.
Their performance has dipped a bit in 2024, having gone three straight tournaments without a podium. Even so, the world’s No. 1 pair is a +150 favorite to win Olympic women’s volleyball in Paris.
TOP CONTENDERS
Kristen Nuss & Taryn Kloth (USA) +300
Nuss and Kloth, former LSU teammates, claimed their second consecutive gold medal at Gstaad Elite16 in Switzerland earlier this month. They’re ranked No. 2 in the world and stand the best chance of upsetting Brazil’s Ana Patricia and Duda.
Sara Hughes & Kelly Cheng (USA) +350
Next to Nuss and Kloth, this set of former USC teammates offers the best hope of the United States continuing its Olympic dominance in beach volleyball.
Hughes and Cheng are coming off a gold-medal finish at the Ostrava Elite16 in June, where they knocked off Ana Patricia and Duda in the semifinals.
Be sure to keep that in mind when assessing the women’s Olympic beach volleyball odds.
NEXT IN LINE
Katja Stam & Raisa Schoon (Netherlands) +900
Stam and Schoon have already medaled twice this year, including winner silver at the Pro Beach Tour Elite16 stop in Tepic, Mexico. Ranked fourth in the world, they stand a decent shot at building off that success in Paris.
Tanja Huberli & Nina Brunner (Switzerland) +1000
One of the most accomplished tandems in the field, Huberli and Brunner have already won multiple European Championships in their ascent up the rankings. The world No. 4 added to their trophy case in Mexico, collecting their first gold medal on the Beach Pro Tour.
Melissa Humana-Paredes & Brandie Wilkerson (Canada) +1100
Humana-Paredes and Wilkerson have won nearly 70% of their matches this year and finished outside the top five just once. That includes gold medals in Jurmala and Montreal.
Canada hasn’t historically had much success in the Olympics, but perhaps that soon changes.
Tina Graudina & Anastasija Samoilova (Latvia) +1100
Can a surprise fourth-place finish in the Tokyo 2020 Games be a springboard to an even bigger finish in Paris? It’s certainly possible, as this duo is +275 to medal. That matches the fourth-best odds of any group in women’s Olympic beach volleyball.
LONGSHOTS
Svenja Muller & Cinja Tillmann (Germany) +2200
Muller and Tillmann hope to follow in the footsteps of Germany’s Laura Ludwig and Kira Walkenhorst, who won gold at the 2016 Games in Rio de Janeiro. They’re +2200 longshots but have proven capable before of winning at high levels. That counts for something.
Mariafe Artacho del Solar & Taliqua Clancy (Australia) +2500
Artacho del Solar and Clancy upset the world No. 1 pair to take home a silver medal at the 2020 Tokyo Games. Oddsmakers clearly are skeptical of them carrying that success into Paris.
Carol Solberg Soldado & Barbara Seixas (Brazil) +2500
This Brazilian duo may be +2500 longshots, but they’re tied for fifth in the world rankings. Barbara teamed with Agatha Bednarczuk to win a silver medal in Tokyo, while Carol makes her Olympic debut after nearly two decades of competition.
