Brazil vs Spain Women’s Soccer: Spain Tipped for Perfect Round
Possible Last Match for Brazilian Legend Marta

Spain Already Through to Knockout Stage
Marta is the Brazil women’s national team’s all-time leading scorer and best-ever player. She’s announced her international retirement following the Olympics and this could be her last match.
- Brazil could potentially go through to the Quarter-Finals with a loss but they’ll need at least a draw against Spain to make sure.
2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup winners Spain have already qualified for the knockout stage. Still, a draw or win would see them through as group winners.
In a blockbuster Group C match, we’ll check out the Brazil vs Spain women’s soccer odds.
Head-to-Head:
- Brazil are 2-1-1 against Spain all-time and each of the four meetings have been in the last decade. Most recently, the two sides drew 1-1 in a 2022 friendly.
Spain are unbeaten in the last two, as they took down Brazil 2-1 in a 2019 friendly.
This is the first Brazil vs Spain women’s soccer match in the Olympics. Still, Brazil did defeat Spain 1-0 in the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Brazil Rallying Behind Marta
- Brazil managed to eke out a 1-0 victory over Nigeria in their Olympic opener and Marta played a part in the goal.
She sent an excellent through ball in for Gabi Nunes, who made no mistake of finishing a great chance. Nigeria created chances but Brazil held on to grab all three points.
It also looked like Brazil would snag all three points in Sunday’s match against Japan. Lorena saved a Mina Tanaka penalty in the first half and Brazil substitute Jhennifer Gouveia scored to put her side up 1-0 in the 56th minute.
However, Japan won another penalty in second-half stoppage time and converted. Then, after a bad giveaway, Japan’s Momoko Tanikawa caught Lorena off her line and Japan completed an improbable 2-1 comeback victory.
It’s not all doom and gloom for Brazil, who can ensure they go through to the Quarter-Finals with a win or draw. The Double Chance soccer betting odds price Brazil at +110 odds to do just that.
In 12 matches this year, Brazil have only lost twice, and expect the side to rally behind Marta and put in a good performance. Plus, Brazil have never failed to advance to the knockout stage in the Olympics.

Steady Spain into Quarters
Spain’s Olympics 2024 schedule hasn’t been easy thus far but they have come away with two wins. Goals from Aitana Bonmati and Mariona Caldentey powered Spain to a 2-1 comeback win over Japan in their women’s Olympic soccer debut.
In their second match, Spain played in a close match against Nigeria. Alexia Putellas’ outrageous looped shot over the Nigerian keeper on a free kick was the difference.
Spain will advance to the Quarters no matter their result on Wednesday but they won’t let up, needing a point to clinch first place.
The pre-tournament outright Olympic soccer odds listed Spain at +200 and they’re in first place in the FIFA World Rankings.
Spain have reigning Ballon d’Or Feminin winner Aitana Bonmati on their roster and Putellas is a former winner of the award as well.
Salma Paralluelo is a dynamic striker and she’s been a bit unlucky not to get on the scoresheet thus far.
Even though this is their Olympic debut, Spain have plenty of big-game experience and won the Women’s World Cup last year.
Brazil vs Spain Match Analysis & Odds
The latest Brazil vs Spain women’s soccer odds list Spain as -145 favorites for this match. At the Women’s World Cup last year, Spain were in a similar position.
After winning their first two matches, they had already qualified for the knockouts and they came up against a tough opponent, in Japan.
- Spain fell 4-0 in that match before winning the rest of their games and they’ll have learned from that experience. Right now, Brazil are +360 moneyline underdogs and a draw (tie) comes in at +270.
Brazil didn’t create many good chances against a tough Japan team and they’ll need to be clinical to have a shot here.
We also see that Spain -0.5, -1 is priced at -125, while Brazil +0.5, +1 shows +100 odds. While winning would be great, both teams will undoubtedly want to avoid defeat as a point helps both of them.
We think that could lead to a close match. Under 2.5 goals is at -115 odds in one of Wednesday’s marquee matchups.
