Hosts France Face Argentina in Quarters
France vs Argentina Olympic Soccer: High Tension Match Expected Friday

Primetime Blockbuster in Bordeaux
One of the best matches in the men’s Olympic soccer tournament could be in the Quarter-Finals. On Friday, hosts and Group A winners France take on Group B runners-up Argentina in a can’t-miss match.
With tensions high between the countries following an alleged racist chant sung by Argentina’s senior team after their Copa America triumph, this could be a fiery match.
France are, unsurprisingly favorites, but we’ll take a look at the full France vs Argentina Olympic soccer odds board.

Head-to-Head:
This will be the first-ever France vs Argentina Olympic soccer match. Their senior sides famously met in the 2022 FIFA World Cup final as Argentina won on penalties.
France Yet to Concede a Goal
France were one of two teams not to concede a single goal in the group stage. Les Bleus picked up an impressive 3-0 victory over the USA in their opener followed by a less convincing 1-0 victory over Guinea.
- To clinch the group, France defeated New Zealand 3-0 and are in their first Olympic Quarter-Final since 1996.
Thierry Henry’s side have the best Olympic gold medal odds, at +150. The home support will undoubtedly help France in their quest for their first gold since 1984.
They also have a star-studded roster with the likes of Michael Olise, Desire Doue, Alexandre Lacazette, Enzo Millot, Castello Lukeba, and Jean-Philippe Mateta.
While they haven’t logged many minutes together as a team, the individuals in France are capable of game-changing moments.
Still, France have looked solid defensively and have an excellent young goalkeeper, Guillaume Restes.
Even as Henry made a bunch of changes for Tuesday’s match, France were still able to keep a third straight clean sheet.
If France win this match, they’ll fancy their chances to win it all as a Semifinal match against either Egypt or Paraguay would await.

Almada Shining for Argentina
Most Olympic soccer predictions had Argentina winning Group B over Morocco, Ukraine, and Iraq. However, Argentina fell 2-1 to Morocco in their opener in controversial circumstances, and that put them on the back foot.
- Still, the Sky Blues were able to beat Iraq 3-1 in their second match to get back on track. Then, Argentina defeated Ukraine 2-0 on Tuesday to advance as Group B’s second-placed team.
While France have standout players, Thiago Almada is one of the most exciting talents in the tournament. He scored against Iraq and Ukraine and is the main creative force in this Argentina side.
Manchester City’s Julian Alvarez is yet to score a goal but the forward still makes an impact even when it doesn’t show up on the scoresheet.
Argentina’s other two overage players are goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli and experienced center back Nicolas Otamendi.
While Argentina failed to get out of their group at Tokyo 2020 and Rio 2016, they’ve won gold the last two times they’ve reached this stage.
Match Analysis & Odds
Despite playing on home soil, France’s implied chances to win are under 50 percent. The France vs Argentina Olympic soccer odds list France at +120 to win in normal time.
Taking France to keep a clean sheet has been one of the best soccer bets today at the Olympics but both teams to score is at -110 odds here.
- Argentina have gotten on the scoresheet in all three of their games but La Albiceleste are +240 underdogs. A draw also shows the same odds as bettors can take France pk, -0.5 at -110 odds, and Argentina pk, +0.5 at -105.
Seven different players have been on the scoresheet for France in three games and they’re the joint-highest scoring team at the tournament so far.
One of France’s stars could bail them out at any moment and their depth is arguably the strongest in the tournament.
- Despite attacking talent on both sides, under 2.5 goals are priced at -145 odds for Friday’s match. Whoever wins this match will undoubtedly be a heavy favorite for the Semifinal clash against Egypt or Paraguay.
We find it hard to bet against France here, though.
