Gubernatorial Election
Georgia Governor Odds
All eyes will be on the Peach State rematch between Democratic candidate Stacey Abrams and incumbent Gov. Brian Kemp. Kemp narrowly defeated Abrams in the 2018 Georgia gubernatorial race, in a campaign that arguably brought the former Georgia House Minority leader Abrams to national prominence and one that she’s leveraged ever since — most notably, by making Joe Biden’s shortlist of vice-president candidates in 2020.
The incumbent Kemp had to stave off several Republican challengers to win the GOP’s nod, including the Donald-Trump-endorsed candidate David Perdue. Since Kemp’s triumph in the Republican primaries, he’s had the market cornered as the runaway favorite at -500.
By contrast, Abrams won the Democratic vote after she ran unopposed in Georgia’s Democratic primary. As per the politics odds, Abrams is a relatively big underdog priced at +330 to win the coveted Governor’s seat. But according to the punditocracy and those that bet on US Politics, she’s widely considered to be a greater threat than the markets would suggest.
Georgia played a prominent role in Biden’s ascent to the White House in the 2020 US Presidential elections. So, how events unfold on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, when voters cast their ballots, could have far-reaching consequences and act as a potential harbinger for the battle between the Democrats and Republicans in the 2024 US Elections.
Kansas Governor Odds
Laura Kelly pulled off one of the most surprising victories for the Democrats in the 2018 Midterm Elections, flipping the red state against the odds. Four years later, she’s facing an uphill battle to repeat in a state that is tipped towards the Republicans at the sportsbook.
The Republicans are odds-on to win Kansas behind Attorney General Derek Schmidt, as per the 2022 Gubernatorial Election Odds. Schmidt has the backing of Donald Trump, who is currently the favorite to win the 2024 US Elections.
Maryland Governor Odds
Two-term Republican Gov. Larry Hogan is term-limited, meaning that Maryland will welcome a new governor into its mansion.
Democrats have emerged as the favorites by a country mile in the betting. They’re priced at -900 on the 2022 Gubernatorial Election Odds, even though a political newcomer leads the charge, Afghan veteran and Rhodes Scholar, Wes Moore,
Trump-backed GOP candidate Daniel Cox is a longshot at +500 to keep Maryland in Republican hands.
Massachusetts Governor Odds
With Republican Gov. Charlie Baker retiring, the Massachusetts Governor’s mansion is getting ready to welcome a new tenant, and if the US politics odds are any indication, Democratic Attorney General Maura Healey – priced at -700 – looks safe to start picking out wallpaper for her new office and selecting her staffers. Republican hopeful and Trump acolyte Geoff Diehl is a longshot to win in November and hold on to the Republican-held seat.
Michigan Governor Odds
Michigan’s incumbent governor Gretchen Whitmer will face Republican hopeful Tudor Dixon in the fall midterm elections. Whitmer won her party’s nod after running unopposed in the Democratic primaries and as per the 2022 Gubernatorial Betting Odds, she’s likely to win a second term in office.
Dixon, a prominent Michigan businesswoman and conservative commentator, faces an uphill battle. She’s running in her first gubernatorial campaign and has limited political experience at this level, and yet she receives the endorsement of Donald Trump.
New Hampshire Governor Odds
Republican Chris Sununu is the runaway favorite to win the New Hampshire governor’s race this fall. With Sununu’s grip on the Granite State priced at -2000, it would take something unexpected from state Sen. Tom Sherman to flip this state for the Democrats.
Pennsylvania Governor Odds
Democrat Josh Shapiro has a slight edge over Republican Doug Mastriano as we look at the latest US political betting odds. Shapiro, currently Pennsylvania’s Attorney General, is tipped as -170 to win while Trump-backed state Sen. Mastriano is priced at Evens.
