Atalanta vs Bologna Head-to-Head

Atalanta have scored just three goals in their last five matches vs Bologna. In December 2023’s reverse fixture, Bologna picked up a 1-0 home win as Lewis Ferguson scored the winning header.

Uncover Exclusive Picks & Predictions From Our Experts.

The pre match Serie A betting odds priced Bologna as slight +180 underdogs. Bologna also defeated Atalanta 2-0 at the Gewiss Stadium in the 2022-23 season. Still, the last five meetings are even with two wins apiece and a draw.

Atalanta Stumble on San Siro Tour

It looked like Atalanta had taken the lead on Wednesday at Inter Milan but VAR had other ideas. The ball struck Charles De Ketelaere’s arm before the Belgian sent the ball into the net.

That turned the tide for Inter, as the Nerazzurri scored four unanswered goals. Inter Milan outclassed Atalanta and ended La Dea’s ten game overall unbeaten streak. In two matches at the San Siro over the last week, Atalanta went 0-1-1. Before the loss to Inter, Atalanta drew 1-1 at AC Milan on Sunday.

Now, Gian Piero Gasperini’s side head back home to Bergamo, where they’ll host Bologna on Sunday. Atalanta are now 14-4-8 in the league this season and are in fifth place in the Serie A table.

Atalanta have been much better at the Gewiss Stadium this season, as they’re 10-1-2 there and 4-3-6 on the road. Wednesday also marked the first match since December Atalanta conceded more than one goal in.

Fortunately, Atalanta are at full strength, as Ademola Lookman, Jose Luis Palomino and Isak Hien have all returned from injuries. Notably, Atalanta have won their last eight home matches and they’ll look to grab all three points here. Currently, the Atalanta vs Bologna Serie A odds price La Dea as -105 favorites.

Bologna in Race for UCL Football

The two most in-form teams in Serie A at the moment are Inter Milan and Bologna. Bologna are currently on a five game winning streak and they defeated Verona 2-0 last Friday.

Giovanni Fabbian scored his fourth goal of the season and Remo Freuler scored his first BFC goal in the win. Lukasz Skorupski made an error which very nearly led to a goal but the Polish goalkeeper also made an unbelievable point blank save on Verona’s Thomas Henry.

It may have seemed unlikely at the beginning of the season but Bologna are now very much in the race for the Champions League. Most Serie A predictions have the Rossoblu missing out, though, as they show +275 top four odds.

Riccardo Orsolini has been one of the league’s most overlooked Serie A players this season. He’s averaged 0.77 goal contributions per 90 minutes, as the winger has totaled nine goals and two assists.

Dutch forward Joshua Zirkzee has matched Orsolini’s total, with nine goals. The pair is tied for seventh in the league in goals. Meanwhile, Bologna have conceded just 23 times in 26 matches and only Juventus and Inter Milan have lost fewer games.

Thiago Motta has done an excellent job as Bologna manager and he has them on track for European qualification. Only Adama Soumaoro is out injured this weekend.

Atalanta vs Bologna Match Analysis & Odds

Atalanta are favored to bounce back from their midweek defeat here and are -110 ATS and moneyline favorites vs Bologna. Bologna have only lost four times in Serie A this season but they’ve drawn seven of their 12 road matches thus far.

Note that four of Bologna’s five victories on their winning streak have come at home. Currently, the Rossoblu sit at +315 odds to get their third road win of the season and sixth in a row overall.

The Atalanta vs Bologna Serie A odds also list a draw at +255. La Dea have only drawn one home match this season and they’ll put their eight game winning streak at the Gewiss Stadium on the line. Notably, Bologna haven’t kept a clean sheet in Serie A away from home since September.

Plus, Atalanta haven’t failed to score in back-to-back matches all season and they should get on the scoresheet here.

Bettors can back Bologna +0.5 at -110 odds but they have lost two of their last four Serie A games on the road. Gian Piero Gasperini will be eager to get Ademola Lookman back into his starting lineup and look for updates about the Nigerian as we approach matchday. Bologna won the reverse fixture by a 1-0 scoreline but over 2, 2.5 goals are priced at -120 odds here.
