Serie A Matchday 13 Odds: Preview, Breakdown, Best Bets
Derby Weekend in Serie A
Superb Serie A Slate
Serie A is a must watch league on Matchday 13. We’ve got a matchup between first place and second place, which is special in its own right. That’s followed by the Rome derby, or Derby della Capitale between Roma and Lazio. Last but not least, the Derby d’Italia between Juventus and Inter Milan is on Sunday. Let’s take a look at the Serie A Matchday 13 odds from these excellent matchups.
Games of the Week:
Atalanta vs. Napoli:
It’s a dream matchup on Saturday as the two top teams in the Serie A standings face off in Bergamo. First place Napoli and second place Atalanta only have one loss between them this season. Napoli have looked like the best team in the world over the last month or two. Entering Tuesday’s Champions League match vs. Liverpool, Napoli are on a 13-match winning streak in all competitions.
Napoli have slightly better than even odds to win here, at -105. Victor Osimhen bagged a hat trick last time out as Napoli beat Sassuolo 4-0. Sensational winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia also managed to get on the scoresheet. Atalanta bounced back from a 2-0 loss to Lazio by defeating Empoli on the road, 2-0. It was Atalanta’s first shutout in the last four matches. It’s gonna be a huge challenge to keep a shutout vs. a Napoli side that have only been shutout once all season.
Atalanta are +260 home underdogs according to the Serie A Matchday 13 odds but Ademola Lookman has scored in four of his last five matches. Over three goals occurred in both meetings last season and has in the last four. However, under three goals sits at -140 odds heading into Saturday’s match. Both defenses have done very well recently and they’ve conceded fewer than a goal per game each this season.
Roma vs. Lazio:
It’s time for the first Derby della Capitale of the season as Roman clubs Roma and Lazio face off on Sunday. Both teams have crucial Europa League matches on Thursday and they’ll both be dealing with short rest for this one. Plus, Lazio’s Ciro Immobile is out with an injury. The Biancocelesti will certainly miss the reigning golden boot winner.
Coming off a 3-1 win over Hellas Verona, Roma show even Serie A Matchday 13 odds to win on Sunday. Lazio, on the other hand, lost 3-1 at Salernitana last weekend. They’re +285 underdogs and a draw sits at +255. Despite the two teams sharing a stadium, the “home” team has had the advantage in recent meetings.
That undoubtedly has something to do with the fact that the team listed as the home side gets a much bigger fan ticket allotment. The home side hasn’t lost any of the last ten derbies. Last season, Roma beat Lazio 3-2 and Lazio won 3-0 in the reverse fixture.
Juventus vs. Inter Milan:
Juventus have been slated for their Champions League mishaps but they’ve won three straight in Serie A. In fact, they enter Matchweek 13 just three points outside of the top four. On Sunday, they’ll host Inter Milan in what’s traditionally the biggest match in Italy, the Derby d’Italia. Inter have done well recently, with a four-game Serie A winning streak of their own.
With both teams showing good domestic form, Juve are still underdogs. The Serie A betting odds price Inter as +135 road favorites. Inter dominated Juve in this fixture last season as they met four times. Juve could only muster a draw in one match as Inter took the other three. Two of those Inter wins were in cup finals, the Supercoppa Italiana and the Coppa Italia.
Inter have also scored at least two goals in each of their last six matches in all competitions heading into this one. They’re also priced at -150 odds as a pick’em. Another reason Juve are underdogs is that they’re in the midst of an injury crisis. Striker Dusan Vlahovic will likely return for this one but four Juventus midfielders are injured. However, don’t be surprised if Angel Di Maria and Leandro Paredes return in time to face Inter.
