Serie A Matchday 16 Odds

Napoli Enter 2023 on Top

Serie A Up and Running Once Again

After nearly two months off, the Italian Serie A is back in business with some midweek matches. The league has been all Napoli so far but the title race certainly still hangs in the balance as we enter 2023. The Partenopei will put their 11-game winning streak on the line on Wednesday in a massive matchup at Inter Milan. Meanwhile, Juventus will put their six-game win and shutout streak to the test at Cremonese. We’ll cover these matches and more of the Serie A Matchday 16 odds.

Games of the Week

Salernitana vs. AC Milan

Date, Time & Streaming:

AC Milan brought their injury problems into the new year despite the extended break. Talented goalkeeper Mike Maignan is out for at least another week, while three forwards are sidelined as well. That puts a lot of responsibility on the shoulders of Olivier Giroud and Rafael Leao, who both put in good World Cup performances. Unbeaten in their last three matches, AC Milan head down to Salerno to take on Salernitana on Wednesday.

Last season, these teams drew 2-2 at the Stadio Arechi and Milan won the reverse fixture, 2-0. This time around, the Rossoneri come in as one-goal favorites and show -130 odds to cover the spread. Salernitana are winless in their last three Serie A matches and are priced at +110 odds to cover. Meanwhile, the three-way moneyline displays Salernitana at +575 odds to win, Milan at -210 and a draw at +355 Serie A Matchday 16 odds.

Rafael Leao is currently third in Serie A with 10 goal contributions and his dynamism will be tough for Salernitana to contain. He’s not at all shy about taking his chances, as his 50 shots are tied for the joi nt-most in the league as well. Salernitana’s Boulaye Dia is one to watch for, as the Senegalese striker has six goals this season. Currently, over 2½ goals sits at -135 odds for the first match of the day.

AS Roma vs. Bologna

Date, Time & Streaming:

Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma stumbled into the World Cup break with just one win in their last five matches. They’ll look to get back on track when they take on Bologna. The Emilia-Romagna club has been in excellent form, with four wins from the last five. While Bologna have preyed on the bottom half teams this season, they’ve only managed a 2-5 record so far vs. top half teams. They’ve also been dreadful on the road, with just a 1-1-5 record. For this match in Rome, Bologna are one-goal underdogs but head in as -130 favorites to cover.

Roma, who have a mostly healthy side with Paulo Dybala back, are priced at +110 odds to cover. Meanwhile, the Giallorossi’s moneyline can be bet on at -160 odds. The Serie A betting lines also price Bologna at +460 odds to win their third match in the last six vs. Roma. A draw also shows +290 odds and last year’s match at the Stadio Olimpico finished scoreless.

Fullback Rick Karsdorp may have played his last match for Roma as he failed to link up with his teammates in Japan for the midseason break. That should open up opportunities for Zeki Celik. Meanwhile, Bologna will be without forward Joshua Zirkzee and defender Kevin Bonifazi for this match. The last three meetings between these Serie A teams have finished with under three goals and under 2½ sits at -125 odds here.

Cremonese vs. Juventus

Date, Time & Streaming:

Aside from Napoli, Juventus have been the hottest team in the league. They’ve been excellent on defense and haven’t conceded a league goal since early October. They’ve only conceded seven times in 15 matches, which is four fewer goals than any other team. Manager Massimiliano Allegri was on the hot seat due to Juve’s subpar Champions League performance but it’s hard to find fault with his work in Serie A.

The Serie A Matchday 16 Odds price Juventus as -145 ATS and moneyline favorites in their first match of 2023. Their opponents on Wednesday are Cremonese, who haven’t won a match yet. The club from Cremona has compiled just an 0-7-8 record and scored under a goal per game. They have drawn three of their last five matches, though. Cremonese defender Emanuel Aiwum leads the league in tackles won but there hasn’t been much to write home about in the 2022-23 season so far. Cremonese are in 18th place, currently six points from relegation safety. They are only ½-goal underdogs for this match but are priced at just +125 odds to cover.

Juve will be without a bunch of star soccer players in this one. Forwards Angel di Maria and Dusan Vlahovic are both out, along with defender Leandro Bonucci and midfielders Leandro Paredes and Paul Pogba. Still, they have almost 60 percent implied odds to go on and win the match. A draw comes in at +275 odds but Cremonese show -155 odds to break Juve’s shutout streak. With all of Juve’s offensive absences and their strong defensive play, under 2½ goals for the match has a -120 price.

Inter Milan vs. Napoli

Date, Time & Streaming:

Napoli top the Serie A standings and it’ll stay that way no matter the result at Inter Milan. Inter are currently in fifth place and will look to end Napoli’s 11-game winning streak. The streak is the longest for any team in Serie A for five years. On the other hand, Inter Milan have gone their last 24 Serie A matches without a draw but a deadlock sits at +245 odds here.

This season, Napoli have had the most prolific offense in the league. They’ve scored 37 times in just 15 matches so far and Victor Osimhen and Kvicha Kharatshkelia have been standouts. The duo is tied for the joint-Serie A lead in goals + assists. They both have 11 goal contributions so far and have inspired fear in opposing defenses. Inter’s defense hasn’t been great, but they’ve also been pouring in the goals this season. Their 34 goals are only second to Napoli’s 37.

“Priced as ½-goal favorites for the match but show +130 odds to cover and win. Meanwhile, Napoli +½ comes in at -150 odds and the Partenopei sit at +215 odds to extend their win streak to 12.”

Simone Inzaghi’s Inter have scored at least three goals in four of their last five matches. Expect Romelu Lukaku and Edin Dzeko to feature up top for the Nerazzurri here. They are priced as ½-goal favorites for the match but show +130 odds to cover and win. Meanwhile, Napoli +½ comes in at -150 odds and the Partenopei sit at +215 odds to extend their win streak to 12. Inter are unbeaten in their last six matches vs. Napoli in all competitions, though. Even though both offenses are highly prolific, under three goals is implied to be more likely than not, at -130 odds.
