Serie A Matchday 23 Betting Odds: Attention Shifts to Top Four Race and Relegation

High Flying Napoli Looking Unstoppable

Attention Shifts to Top Four Race and Relegation

Jose Mourinho may have been right when he said that Napoli have already won Serie A. The Partenopei have taken a 15-point lead in Serie A and are looking nearly unstoppable. There are 16 games left but it’s hard to see them falling off a cliff. As the season goes on, the race for the top four and relegation picture should get more attention.

Right now, just five points separate second-placed Inter and sixth-placed Lazio. Cremonese, Sampdoria and Verona are currently in the relegation zone but Verona are unbeaten in their last four games. Now, let’s take a look at the best game of the week and the Serie A Matchday 23 betting odds.

Matches of the Week:

Sassuolo vs. Napoli

Date & Time: Friday, February 17th, 2:45 p.m. EST
Location: MAPEI Stadium (Reggio Emilia, Italy)

Sassuolo are unbeaten in their last four matches, which have all come against top ten teams. Now, they’ll face their toughest recent test as they host Serie A leaders Napoli. Napoli are on a six-game winning streak and now have a massive 15-point lead in Serie A.

The Partenopei’s Victor Osimhen and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia are both among the Serie A goal leaders. Osimhen is first in the league, with 17 goals, while Kvaratskhelia is tied for fourth, with nine. Kvara also leads the league with nine assists. Napoli enter Friday’s match as one-goal favorites but both teams show -110 odds to cover the spread.

Napoli are unbeaten on the road at Sassuolo since 2015 but have often drawn in this fixture. Five of the last six meetings at Sassuolo have finished all square and another draw sits at +345 odds. Meanwhile, Sassuolo are +460 home underdogs and Napoli come in as -180 favorites. Napoli had no problems defeating Sassuolo earlier this season as they picked up a 4-0 win. None other than Osimhen and Kvara were on the scoresheet in that match and Osimhen bagged a hat trick.

Sassuolo’s main man Domenico Berardi left their last match just 12 minutes in with a thigh injury. It remains to be seen whether the Italian international forward will suit up for Friday’s match. Despite the fact that the last four meetings have averaged 5.3 goals, under three goals sit at -130 odds for Friday’s match.

MON Monza vs. AC Milan MIL

Date & Time: Saturday, February 18th, 12:00 p.m.
Location: Brianteo Stadium (Monza, Italy)

Monza are quietly on an eight-game unbeaten streak and have now entered the top half of the table. They’ll host their noisy neighbors AC Milan on Saturday, who finally ended a seven-match winless run, with a 1-0 win over Torino last Friday.

Milan built even more momentum midweek by defeating Tottenham 1-0 in the first leg of their UCL round of 16 fixture. Milan also won the reverse fixture 4-1 as Brahim Diaz scored a brace. Diaz was also Milan’s goalscorer vs. Tottenham and should play a part here. The Serie A Matchday 23 Betting odds currently price AC Milan as ½-goal favorites. The Rossoneri show +105 ATS and moneyline odds for Saturday’s match.

This isn’t at all expected to be a walk in the park for AC Milan. Monza have recently defeated Juventus and drawn with Inter Milan. AC Milan have also been merely average on the road this season having managed just a 4-4-3 record away from home. That’s a far cry from their form in their title-winning campaign in 2021-22. Monza come in at -125 odds to cover and draw or win the match.

They also show +280 odds to get their first-ever win vs. AC Milan. Expect the Monza fans to be heavily invested as they host the Rossoneri for the first time ever. Monza owner and former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi also used to own AC Milan.

Monza have drawn four of their last seven matches, including their last three home matches. Another draw shows +235 odds here. No Monza player has scored more than four goals this season but they’ve averaged over 1.5 goals per game since the World Cup break ended. Still, under 2½ goals display -125 odds for Saturday’s contest.

INT Inter Milan vs. Udinese UDI

Date & Time: Saturday, February 18th, 2:45 p.m.
Location: San Siro Stadium (Milan, Italy)

Inter Milan disappointingly drew with Sampdoria 0-0 on Monday. They’ve only scored four goals in their last five Serie A matches but are 3-1-1 in those games. Now, they’ll host eighth-placed Udinese at the San Siro on Saturday.

Udinese started off the season quite well but have gone through some rough patches of form since. They’re winless in their last three matches and have won just two of their last 15 Serie A matches. Inter, who are 9-2 at home this season, are one-goal favorites for Saturday’s match.

Serie A Matchday 23 Betting odds price Inter at -120 odds to cover the spread and -200 odds to win the match. Although the Nerazzurri have struggled to score recently, they’ve tightened up on defense. Inter have conceded just three times in their last eight matches, in all competitions, as Andre Onana has made the starting GK spot his own.

Although Udinese have struggled recently, they have gotten on the scoresheet in five of their last seven matches. The Friulians show even odds to cover the spread and +525 odds to win the match. Udinese won the reverse fixture 3-1, which broke a nine-match winless streak vs. Inter Milan.

Meanwhile, a draw is listed at +350 odds. Inter have won their last four matches at the San Siro vs. Udinese and outscored them 9-1 during that span. When Lautaro Martínez plays, it’s almost a given that he’ll have chances. The Argentine striker has 12 goals this season and leads the league with 30 shots on target.

He’s scored three times in Inter’s last three Serie A matches and will undoubtedly be looking to get on the scoresheet here. Whether he’ll receive help is another story. Regardless, over 2½ goals display a -130 price for the match.

Top Four Teams in Action

ATA Atalanta vs. Lecce LEC

Date & Time: Sunday, February 19th, 6:30 a.m.
Location: Atleti Azzurri d’Italia Stadium (Bergamo, Italy)

Atalanta defeated Lazio 2-0 on Saturday to move from fifth place into third. Now, they’ll host Lecce in Bergamo on Sunday. Lecce have often been tough customers this season. They’ve already drawn vs. Milan and Roma and defeated Lazio in 2023. They’ve managed to grab at least a point in six of their 11 road matches as well. Still, this is a huge test for a Lecce side in 13th place.

La Dea enter the match as one-goal home favorites and show -120 odds to cover the spread. Atalanta are also priced at -200 odds to win the match but lost 2-1 to Lecce in the reverse fixture. Meanwhile, Lecce are +550 road underdogs and a draw sits at +340 odds.

Lecce also come in at even odds to cover. Atalanta’s Ademola Lookman has been a standout player this season. He’s in joint-second place in Serie A, with 12 goals. Atalanta have also scored at least twice in seven of their last eight Serie A matches. It’s no surprise that over 2½ goals display a -120 price for the match.

ROM Roma vs. Hellas Verona VER

Date & Time: Sunday, February 19th, 2:45 p.m.
Location: Olimpico Stadium (Roma, Italy)

Roma take on RB Salzburg on Thursday in the first leg of the Europa League playoff before hosting Hellas Verona on Sunday. The Giallorossi drew 1-1 at Lecce in Serie A last weekend but still enter the weekend in fourth place in the Italian Serie A standings.

Meanwhile, Verona are unbeaten in their last four matches but still find themselves in the relegation zone. Jose Mourinho’s Roma are one-goal favorites for Sunday’s match and sit at +115 odds to cover. Roma also come in at -165 odds to win a fourth Serie A match in their last six.

Hellas Verona won at Salernitana on Monday but Roma won the reverse fixture, 3-1. Since the World Cup break ended, Verona’s defense has been much better though. They haven’t conceded more than one goal in a match since November. Keeper Lorenzo Montipo also leads the league in saves. Verona do come in at -135 odds to cover the spread but just +525 odds to win.

Note that Verona haven’t won on the road at Roma during this century. They did manage to draw at Roma, last season though. Another draw displays +275 odds. Meanwhile, with both defenses playing well, under 2½ goals sit at -145 odds.
