Serie A Matchweek 32 Betting Preview

Odds Favor Inter Milan to Win Championship

Inter Bidding for Back-to-Back Titles

With a crucial 1-0 win over Juventus in the Derby d’Italia, Inter Milan won for just the second time in their last eight Serie A matches. Even though they’re in third place, Inter are still +120 Serie A favorites according to the Serie A betting odds to take home the title. They do have a game in hand on the AC Milan, trailing the Serie A leaders by four points, but will surely need to produce more on offense to become back-to-back champions.

AC Milan slipped up last weekend and managed just a scoreless draw at home vs. Bologna. They’re now just one point ahead of Napoli, who are being slept on a bit at +250 odds to win the Serie A. We’re currently in the midst of one of the most exciting title races in recent memory and there’s still plenty of action left.

Goals Rare in AC Milan Matches

If only AC Milan were more consistent offensively, they may have already had the Serie A title wrapped up. They’ve kept five consecutive shutouts in all competitions but have averaged just 0.6 goals per game during that span. Despite getting off 33 shots vs. Bologna, a game in which Milan were -300 favorites, the Rossoneri just couldn’t manage to put the ball in the back of the net.

It may be now or never for Milan as their strikers are 35-year old Olivier Giroud and 41-year old Zlatan Ibrahimovic. They’ve both had their moments this season, but they’ll need to step up in the home stretch to deliver a first Serie A title since 2011.

Despite being in first place, Serie A soccer predictions list AC Milan at +175 to take home the title. Given the fact that Lazio, Fiorentina and Atalanta are all on the schedule for their remaining matches, it certainly makes sense.

Sunday’s match is a must-win for the Rossoneri. Their opponents, Torino, just barely ended their eight-game winless streak vs. last place Salernitana. Milan have won the last four Serie A meetings, and last year’s match in Turin got ugly. AC Milan scored seven unanswered goals and ran Torino right off the pitch.

Milan are listed at +105 on the road, which appears to be solid value. Plus, six of Milan’s last seven matches have finished with under three goals. So, taking Milan and under 2½ at attractive +300 odds looks to be a decent Serie A betting tip.

Golden Opportunity for Napoli

Napoli’s 3-1 win on the road at Atalanta last weekend was a massive result for the Partenopei. If they’re able to win their next two matches vs. Fiorentina and Roma, which are both at home, they’ll have an excellent chance to win the title. All of Napoli’s last five matches are against teams currently placed 10th or lower, so the next couple of matches are going to be a huge focal point for manager Luciano Spalletti.

Lorenzo Insigne has been one of the more underrated players of the last decade or so and this is his last opportunity for a title with his boyhood club. Napoli’s captain will be joining Toronto FC of the MLS at the conclusion of the season, ending a 16-year spell in Naples. He scored a penalty at Atalanta and leads the team with 14 goal contributions this season.

It’s also likely that a bigger club swoops in for leading scorer Victor Osimhen in the offseason, so this season marks a golden opportunity for the Partenopei. Napoli fell to Fiorentina 5-2 in extra time of the Coppa Italia last 16, but the Viola have since lost Dusan Vlahovic . Napoli ave won the last three Serie A meetings and none have been as big as this one.

Listed at -130 by the Serie A betting odds, Napoli are home favorites for Sunday’s match. Andre Zambo Anguissa will be out due to suspension for Napoli but they have a deep midfield rotation. Alessandro Zanoli will continue to fill in for the injured Giovanni di Lorenzo at right back.

Fiorentina, who are unbeaten in their last four and recently drew on the road at Inter, will be missing three starters for this match. Midfielder Lucas Torreira is suspended while right back Alvaro Odriozola and midfielder Giacomo Bonaventura are out injured.

This match is tough to call but I wouldn’t be surprised to see both teams get on the scoresheet.

Inter Struggling to String Together Wins

Coming off a Derby d’Italia win over Juventus, Inter Milan face Hellas Verona on Saturday, who they haven’t lost to for 30 years. In their last 21 Serie A meetings, Inter are 17-0-4. They’ve also never lost to Hellas Verona at home and should be confident of getting a result here. However, Inter are yet to put together two wins in a row in 2022 and have squandered their Serie A lead as a result.

Inter’s inconsistency has been frustrating to see. They’re the only team to beat Liverpool at Anfield in the last year, but have recently drawn with 19th-place Genoa. As -255 favorites vs. Verona, according to the latest Serie A betting odds, the Nerazzurri don’t have much value on their moneyline. Inter are also 1½-goal favorites despite winning just one match in their last 12 Serie A contests by more than a one-goal margin.

Given their up-and-down form, it’s hard to trust Inter here to come away with all three points, especially with how much firepower Verona have up top with Giovanni Simeone and Gianluca Caprari.
