Soccer Betting: Serie A Matchday 2 Odds

Atalanta Host AC Milan in Monumental Clash

Few Surprises on Matchday 1

The first weekend of the Serie A season was a tough one for the underdogs. Last season’s top eight teams all won their matches on Matchday 1. That will change this weekend, though, as Atalanta host AC Milan on Sunday in the match of the week. Let’s run through the key Serie A Matchday 2 odds for prospective bettors.

Torino vs Lazio

Both Torino and Lazio were victorious in their first game of the season. Torino picked up an impressive 2-1 win at Monza, while Lazio came back to beat Bologna, 2-1. Ciro Immobile, who won Serie A’s golden boot last season, scored Lazio’s winning goal.

Biancocelesti goalkeeper Luis Maximiano had a nightmare debut, though. Lazio’s new number one was sent off after just six minutes vs Bologna and will miss this match. Former Spezia keeper Ivan Provedel is expected to fill in for him.

Despite playing on the road, Lazio is favored. The Serie A Matchday 2 odds price hosts Torino at +200 to win and Lazio sits at +140. This pick’em is expected to be one of the most competitive matches of the weekend and a draw is priced at +245 as a result. Each of the last three meetings has ended in a deadlock.

Inter Milan vs Spezia

Inter Milan always seems to be near or at the top of the Serie A soccer standings. The 2022-23 season is expected to be no different as the Nerazzurri are title favorites. Romelu Lukaku scored just two minutes into his Inter return in a 2-1 win over Lecce on the road. Denzel Dumfries

After hitting the post on a header, Inter defender Denzel Dumfries scored a last-minute winning goal. Inter will be hoping for a little less drama in their home opener vs. Spezia this Saturday. Spezia, in manager Luca Gotti’s first match, picked up a 1-0 win over Empoli.

Inter, who have never lost to Spezia, is two-goal and -550 favorites. Simone Inzaghi’s team is favored to cover the spread, at -125. Meanwhile, Spezia is +1500 underdogs and even a draw is priced at long +675 odds.

Napoli vs Monza

It was unclear how Napoli would respond to losing longtime forwards Lorenzo Insigne and Dries Mertens. So far, so good, as the Partenopei put five goals on Verona in Matchday 1. Georgian winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia scored a debut goal as five players got on the scoresheet.

Now, Napoli host Serie A new boys Monza on Sunday looking to continue their momentum. Napoli comes into the match as -270 favorites in their first-ever Serie A meeting vs Monza. The Lombardy club lost their first match of the season, 2-1, to Torino and this will be a difficult road game. Napoli lost just five times at home last season and Monza is +735 underdogs.

The over/under is at three goals for this match. Bettors seem to be favoring the over after Napoli’s 5-2 win last weekend and it’s priced at -115, however, it’s Monza who currently has a -120 edge on the 1½-goal spread.

Atalanta vs AC Milan

Lombard clubs Atalanta and AC Milan will contest the match of the weekend on Sunday. Defending Serie A champions Milan have won the last three meetings and taking them in this match has historically been one of the better Serie A betting tips. Milan is ever so slightly favored. The Rossoneri show +150 odds, while hosts Atalanta sit at +180 Serie A odds.

Atalanta defeated Sampdoria 2-0 on the road on Matchday 1, keeping a crucial clean sheet. Ademola Lookman also found the back of the net on his debut. The defense was a problem for La Dea last season and they’ll certainly be tested on Sunday. They conceded five goals to AC Milan in two matches last season and last kept a home clean sheet in this fixture almost three years ago.

The over/under goal total is currently set at 2½ and AC Milan played in a six-goal thriller last weekend. Ante Rebic scored twice for the Rossoneri in a 4-2 win over Udinese and could see more minutes as their number nine.

Sampdoria vs Juventus

Sampdoria’s early season fixtures are less than ideal. They welcomed Atalanta to Genoa on Matchday 1 and face Juventus on Monday. La Samp is one of the more likely Italian soccer teams to be relegated this season and a slow start could cause problems. They dropped their first match 2-0 and opponents Juve smashed Sassuolo 3-0.

Debutant Angel di Maria scored vs. Sassuolo but a groin injury could force him to miss this Serie A match. Massimiliano Allegri will also be thrilled that Dusan Vlahovic scored twice in the first match of the season. The big-money January signing started off his Juve career well but tailed off towards the end of last season.

The Serie A Matchday 2 odds price Juventus as -170 favorites for Monday’s match. Juve has feasted in this fixture lately, with seven consecutive victories. In those matches, they’ve averaged over 2.7 goals per game but their team total for this one is O/U 1½. One-goal underdogs Sampdoria are priced at +500.
