Soccer Betting: Serie A Matchday 3 Odds
Trio of Big Matches Headlines Exciting Weekend

Napoli, Inter, and Roma Put Perfect Records to the Test
Just two weeks through the 2022-23 Serie A season, the top eight teams remain the same as last season’s. The familiar faces are all still unbeaten but only Napoli, Inter Milan, and Roma remain perfect through Matchday 2. However, all three teams face incredibly difficult opposition on an action-packed Serie A Matchday 3. We’ll cover those fixtures and run through the Serie A Matchday 3 odds from the other big matches this weekend.
Lazio vs Inter Milan:
It’s always a fiery match when Lazio takes on Inter Milan and this Friday should be no different. Inter are currently priced as -115 road favorites to defeat Lazio; however, the away team hasn’t won any of the last six Italian Serie A fixtures between the two sides. These teams split their matchups last season and we could be in for another competitive match.
Inter have barely put a foot in the wrong over the last two weeks. They’ve managed a 2-1 road win over Lecce and a 3-0 victory vs Spezia so far. Heading to Rome to play Lazio is the first big test of the season for Simone Inzaghi’s men. Underdogs Lazio, who Inzaghi used to play for and manage, are priced at +310 regardless, the Biancocelesti have won twice and drawn in their last three home matches vs Inter.
A trend punters should be aware of is that both teams have scored in each of the last five meetings. Both teams to score shows a -170 price as a result but Lazio was shut out in a scoreless draw at Torino last weekend. Lazio is still undefeated, though, as they picked up a 2-1 win over Bologna on opening weekend. Given recent history, this should be one of the most entertaining matches of the weekend.
Juventus vs AS Roma:
The first matchup on Saturday is another great one. The last time Juventus faced AS Roma, the Bianconeri came back from 3-1 down to win 4-3. Juve won both matches last season by a one-goal margin but Jose Mourinho’s Roma is yet to concede this season. Juventus will look to bounce back from a scoreless draw at Sampdoria and ruin Roma’s perfect start.
Juventus come into this match as +135 favorites, according to the Serie A Matchday 3 odds. They’ve won the last three meetings between these two teams but the odds seem to put a repeat in doubt. Roma is -155 favorites to cover the ½-goal spread and avoid defeat. With the way they’ve defended so far, it’s easy to see why. AS Roma have conceded just three goals in their last eight matches dating back to last season.
Angel Di Maria had an excellent Juve debut but missed out on the last match due to injury. He’s expected to be out for this one as well, along with goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny and midfielder Paul Pogba. Federico Chiesa is still recovering from an ACL injury too. Roma’s Nicolo Zaniolo suffered a dislocated shoulder in the 1-0 win vs Cremonese and his absence will certainly hurt.
AC Milan vs Bologna:
The defending Serie A champions, AC Milan, welcome Bologna to the San Siro on Saturday. This has been a fixture Milan has enjoyed playing in recent seasons as the Rossoneri are unbeaten in the last 13 meetings; last season’s match at the San Siro finished in a scoreless draw.
In any case, AC Milan is heavy -280 favorites to win and the spread is set at 1½ goals. The Rossoneri picked up a point away at Atalanta last weekend and will be thinking about all three points in this one. Bologna drew 1-1 at home with Hellas Verona on Matchday 2 but picked up a red card for a second straight weekend. Forward player Riccardo Orsolini will miss this match as a result.
Bologna is +725 underdogs, while a draw sits at +450. Both teams are looking for their first shutout of the season and have been shaky defensively at times. With Bologna priced at -135 Serie A Matchday 3 odds to score, both teams are expected to get on the scoresheet.
Hellas Verona vs Atalanta:
Hellas Verona and Atalanta both scored 65 goals last season but this is a very different Verona team in 2022-23. Verona’s three leading scorers last season, Giovanni Simeone, Gianluca Caprari, and Antonin Barak, combined for 41 goals. Now, all of them are playing elsewhere. Atalanta head to Verona on Sunday as -120 favorites and the road team has curiously won the last four meetings.
Atalanta has defended much better in the first couple of weeks of the season than they did last year. Gian Piero Gasperini’s side has conceded just one goal and remains undefeated. La Dea managed to grind out a draw vs defending champions Milan on Matchday 2. Meanwhile, Verona is looking for their first win as they’ve drawn and lost so far this season.
Atalanta’s Ruslan Malinovskyi has been linked to Tottenham and it’s more than possible the transfer is completed by Sunday. Malinovskyi scored Atalanta’s goal in their 1-1 draw vs AC Milan and replacing his creativity will be difficult. Also, defender Berat Djimsiti is expected to miss this match with a calf injury. Hellas Verona is priced as +310 underdogs and notably hasn’t beaten Atalanta at home since 2016.
Fiorentina vs Napoli:
Napoli, at 2-0, is on top of the Serie A Italia standings through two matches. They’ve been dominant, scoring nine goals so far, but Fiorentina was a thorn in their side last season. The Viola scored nine times vs Napoli in 2021-22 and went 2-1 vs them. Napoli head to Florence as +115 favorites in one of the weekend’s best matches.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has gotten his Napoli career off to an electric start, with three goals in two matches. If he continues to play this way, the Georgian winger could prove to be an adequate replacement for Lorenzo Insigne. One advantage for Napoli heading into this one is that Fiorentina has a UEFA Europa Conference League qualifier on Thursday. So, the Viola will only be on two days’ rest heading into Sunday.
None of the last seven meetings have finished in a draw and a deadlock is priced at +270 odds. One thing bettors have expected from this matchup is goals. Three or more goals have been scored in each of the last three meetings but over three shows just +110 odds for this match. +230 Underdogs Fiorentina may finalize the inevitable signing of Antonin Barak before this match and he’d give them much-needed firepower up front. Like in Hellas Verona vs Atalanta, the road team has won the last four meetings.
