Who will win the 50th ABN AMRO Open title? What, if anything at all, do the ABN AMRO Open Betting Odds say?
Join us as we preview the much anticipated men’s ATP 500 tournament in Rotterdam, set to get underway from February 11-19 (includes the weekend’s qualifying rounds).
The ABN AMRO Open has been a staple on the ATP tennis schedule since 1974, and over the five decades, many household names and champions have graced the indoor hard court stage in Rotterdam – from Jimmy Connors to Lleyton Hewitt, Andy Murray and Roger Federer, to name a few.
This year is no exception. A strong field including nine of the Top 20 players has descended on the major port city in the South of Holland.
2022 ABN AMRO Open Champion
Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime won his maiden title on these storied indoor courts in 2022, beating top seed and the then AMRO Open Betting Odds favorite Stefanos Tsitsipas in the final, 6-4, 6-2. .
Auger-Aliassime’s inspired run saw him defeat former champion Andy Murray in the R16, the No. 1 Briton Cameron Norrie (quarters), defending champion Andrey Rublev (Semis) and, finally, Tsitsipas.
It would take time for the 22-year-old Canuck to build on that watershed moment. but he would ultimately go on to win three additional titles eight months later in consecutive indoor hard court events in the fall of 2022.,
Auger-Aliassime is in uncharted territory, facing his first-ever title-defense campaign. He isn’t the betting favorite either as the bookmakers serve up former World No. 1 Daniil Medvedev as the player to beat at +300, followed by last year’s runner-up and World No. 3 Stefanos Tsitsipas as the next best-bet.

Top Contenders in Rotterdam AT a Glance
- Auger-Aliassime is back to defend his title. Considering his success on indoor hard courts last season, he’s an early betting favorite on the AMRO Open Betting Odds board priced at +1000.
- Top seed and World No. 3 Stefanos Tsitsipas is the second favorite at +450 to win his first title of the season as we look at the latest AMRO Open Betting Odds. Tsitsipas was the runner-up at the Australian Open, losing to Novak Djokovic in straight sets in the final.
- Daniil Medvedev leads the betting charge as the +300 favorite. Medvedev is a former US Open champion and World No. 1, but he recently fell out of the Top 10 after failing to defend his points from last year’s runner-up finish to Rafael Nadal at the 2022 Australian Open.
- Andrey Rublev, the 2021 champion, is among the Top 10 tennis players floating under the radar as the +900 bet. In his first tournament since losing to Djokovic in the semifinals of the 2023 Australian Open, he is sure to garner attention from fans betting on the ATP Rotterdam odds.
- Jannik Sinner (+800) and Holger Rune (+850) are the NextGen stars to spot in this tournament. Sinner is coming off a title in Montpellier while Rune is coming off a semifinal appearance at the same tournament.
ATP Rotterdam Draw Preview
First Quarter:
Tsitsipas headlines the first quarter of the draw. The top seed falls into a quarter that includes No. 7 seed Pablo Carreno Busta and a top half that includes No. 4 seed Rune and No. 7 seed Zverev.Â
Admittedly, the 24-year-old Greek has a ton of points to defend this week in Rotterdam and matching his 2022 run or going one better this year will be a motivating factor. Tsitsipas opens his campaign against Emil Ruusuvuori in the R32. Should he overcome the Finish up-and-comer, he will face the winner of Bonzi vs Sinner.
Sinner just missed being seeded in Rotterdam, but the Open Sud de France champion is a legitimate stumbling block for Tsitsipas in the quarterfinals.
Second Quarter
Rune highlights the second quarter and by the tennis odds, he is the most likely challenger to emerge in the semis. The 18-year-old comes into the tournament on fine form and falls into a favorable section of the draw that pits him against qualifier Constant Lestienne in the first round and the winner of wild card Gijs Brouwer and Marc-Andrea Huesler in the R16.
Zverev is a potential quarterfinal opponent for Rune – on paper. But the German is still working his way back into form after missing most of last season with a foot injury. Zverev’s first round opponent is a dangerous floater, Soonwoo Kwon. In the R16, he could face Dutch wild card Tallon Griekspoor or Mikael Ymer.
Third Quarter
Medvedev and Auger-Aliassime are drawn together into an ominous looking third quarter that is wide open. If the draw falls in line with the seeding, they’ll collide in the quarterfinals.
Medvedev opens against Alejandro Davidovich-Fokina. The Spaniard is inconsistent, blowing hot and cold from tournament to tournament. But when he’s on, he’s a tough customer. In the R16, the winner of Botic Van de Zandschulp vs Borna Coric will face the winner of Medvedev vs Davidovich-Fokina.
Auger-Aliassime’s path is littered with stumbling blocks, from an opening matchup against Lorenzo Sonego to a second round matchup against the winner of David Goffin vs Gregoire Barrere. Goffin is a wily veteran that can beat just about any player on a good day.
Fourth Quarter
Rublev and Hubert Hurkacz lead the charge in the fourth quarter. The Russian will be tested right out of the gates with a R32 date against Australia’s Alex De Minaur. Then, in the R16, he could face home favorite and dangerous floater Tim Rijthoven or American Maxime Cressy. The big-serving American is flush off a runner-up finish to Sinner in Montpellier.
Hurkacz’ path into the quarterfinals is stacked with veteran talent. The Pole begins his campaign against 35-year-old Roberto Bautista Agut. Then, he could see journeyman Aslan Karatsev or 31-year-old Grigor Dimitrov.
Betting Contenders, Sleepers & Longshots
Top seed Tsitsipas is being slightly snubbed as the second favorite at +450. That’s mainly a function of his tough draw. His mindset is another likely factor, though it is impossible to qualify ahead of the tournament. Admittedly, it’s his first tournament since losing to Djokovic in the Australian Open final and he could still be processing the disappointment.
That said, the No. 1 Greek is one of (if not THE) most consistent players on the ATP Tour that is a regular deep in a tournament. If he survives the early rounds, he’ll be a serious threat to win the title.
Danish teenager Holger Rune is a value bet at +850. He comes into this event on good form after reaching the last four in Montpellier. Granted, Sinner went on to win the title in the Southern French enclave and at +800, he strikes an attractive pose on the tennis odds board as well. But winning back-to-back titles is a big ask.
Rublev is another value bet at +900. His value is further enhanced by a relatively winnable quarter; that’s assuming he overcomes De Minaur in the first round.
Elsewhere, sleepers such as Kwon (+5000) and longshots such as Van Rijthoven and Van de Zandeschup (both priced at+6600), could capitalize if their quarters fall apart.
