2023 WTA Australian Open Early Betting Preview

Swiatek The Player To Beat

Although the Australian Open is still two weeks away, we’re already honing in on the tennis betting markets in search of the Women’s Australian Open Odds at early hours.

With reigning Australian Open champion Ashleigh Barty retiring in March of 2022, the tennis tournament will be crowning a new champion this year.

Among the hopefuls is World No. 1 Iga Swiatek, who is the player to beat according to the oddsmakers priced at +1.

The 21-year-old Polish star was the indisputable best tennis player in the women’s game last season, voted as the WTA Player of the Year after climbing to the No. 1 ranking on the back of eight titles, two of which were Grand Slams (French Open and the US Open)

Swiatek will be looking to extend her formidable form by winning her second straight Grand Slam Down Under and fourth overall career major title. What’s more, it’s going to be hard to find expert tennis predictions that would take issue with her chances or the market’s favorable outcome.

But nothing is ever a guarantee in sports. There are several contenders that could give Swiatek a run for her money, not least of all her nearest rivals Ons Jabeur, Caroline Garcia and Aryna Sabalenka, all of which are priced at +1200.

Below we dive into some of the best alternative (to Swiatek) bets to spot at the sportsbook exchange. Getting in on the action now will give tennis bettors the advantage of early value on the tennis odds board that would otherwise be lost the closer we reach the tournament and once the Australian open schedule is out.

The Contend

Ons Jabeur +1200 – The Tunisian trailblazer is the second-best bet to win the Australian Open, but a good distance off at a price of +1200 on the latest Women’s Australian Open Odds board. Jabeur shares this distinction with Caroline Garcia and Aryna Sabalenka.

Of this triplent and, for that matter, the entire WTA field, Jabeur, arguably, was the second-best player at the Grand Slams after Swiatek. She reached back-to-back major final appearances at Wimbledon and the US Open, and she’ll be looking to reach her third-straight final in Melbourne

Jabeur lost to Elena Rybakina in her first-ever major final at the Wimbledon Championships. She went on to finish runner-up to Swiatek at the 2022 US Open final a couple of months lat

Carolina Garcia+1200 – Carolina Garcia was the breakout player of 2022, soaring back into the Top 5 after starting the season ranked No. 74. She won four titles, including the year-end WTA Tour Finals, and reached the 2022 US Open semifinals (l. to Jabeur).

Aryna Sabalenka +1200 – The Belorussia’s Sabalenka blows hot and cold. She has the game to win a grand slam title, but lacks the consistency of a champion. That makes her the riskiest of this trio of joint second-best bets, priced at +12

Sabalenka finished her season strong with a runner-up finish at the WTA Tour finals after beating Swiatek in the semis. Whether she can carry the momentum into 2023 remains to be seen

Coco Gauff +1600 – American teenager Coco Gauff has all the hallmarks of a future champion in the game, underscoring those enviable credentials by making her maiden major final at Roland Garros last ye

The 18-year-old reached the second week of three of the four majors in 2022, making the R16 at the Australian Open and the quarterfinals of the US Open.

She’s priced as the third-best bet at +1600 to win the 2023 Australian Open.

The Middleweights

Liudmila Samsonova +2500 – Liudmila Samsonova finished the year ranked No. 20. The Russian reached the quarterfinals of the 2022 US Open and won three titles in Washington, Cleveland and Tokyo (both hard courts). Samsonova strikes an interesting pose on the Women’s Australian Open Odd board as a potential contend

Belinda Bencic +3300 – Belinda Bencic has a big game, and when she’s on, she’s a tough player to beat. The 25-year-old had a mixed 2022 campaign, winning the title in Charleston and reaching the final of Berlin. She was also a semifinalist in Miami where she lost to Naomi Osa

Bianca Andreescu +3300 – The Canadian was the surprise US Open champion in 2019, beating Serena Williams in the final to win her maiden major title. Andreescu has struggled to find form since then and has had a string of injuries that have held her back.

She showed flashes of promise toward the end of 2022 that could propel her on a positive wave into the new year.

Beatriz Haddad-Maia +3300 – The Brazilian was one of the biggest risers on the WTA Tour, climbing from World No. 85 to World No. 15.

She has had success at smaller tournaments but she’s yet to transcend the biggest stage of tenn

The Longsh

Alja Tomljanovic +6600 — The veteran Australian Alja Tomljanovic shot to international fame after beating Serena Williams in a three-set marathon in her final appearance at the US Open last year.

Linda Fruhvirtova +10000 – Czech Linda Fruhvirtova, 17, is an up-and-comer in the game. She claimed her maiden WTA Title in Chennai last September and finished at World No. 79.

Linda Noskova +15000 – Czech Linda Noskova, 18, is a player to spot in 2023. She currently ranks at No. 102 and is a longshot to win the Australian Open. But she could shake things up in the draw.
