Porsche Tennis Grand Prix Odds: Defending Champion Swiatek Will be The Player to Beat Once Again

Multiple Former Grand Slam Champions Set to Hit the Courts in Stuttgart

Swiatek Looking to Become Fifth Back-To-Back Champion in Last 25 Years

Stuttgart has been a popular destination for the world’s best players for years with Iga Swiatek, Ashleigh Barty, and Petra Kvitova the last three champions. Nobody has successfully defended their title in this clay-court event since Angelique Kerber in 2015 and 2016. The Porsche Tennis Grand Prix odds favor Swiatek joining Kerber, Martina Hingis, Maria Sharapova, and Davenport among the repeat champions in Stuttgart.

This will once again be a star-studded field with most of the top 10 players set to play. The 32-player singles draw will begin on Monday. Former US Open champion Emma Raducanu is among the players given wild cards into the tournament.

There were significant withdrawals leading into the 2022 Porsche Tennis Grand Prix event so keep an eye on the player movements when it comes time to look at the best tennis bets.

This event is all about making to move to the clay courts with an eye on extended runs at the French Open. Swiatek (-120) is the overwhelming pick in the current French Open outrights according to the WTA betting odds.

WTA Players

Iga Swiatek

Swiatek, the defending champion, already has a tournament title to her credit in 2023 as she didn’t drop a set while winning in Qatar in February. She also reached the final in Dubai and the semifinals at Indian Wells.

It will be hard to top what Swiatek accomplished at this time last year when she won 35 matches in a row to win six consecutive tournaments, culminating with the French Open title. Still, it will be hard to pick against the world’s top-ranked player when it comes to the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix odds.

Aryna Sabalenka

Sabalenka followed up a win in Adelaide by capturing the Australian Open, topping Elena Rybakina in a tough three-set final. Rybakina won the rematch in the Indian Wells final. Still, this is a player that could make some noise when looking at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix odds.

Sabalenka (+550) reached the Stuttgart finals in 2021 and 2022, falling to Barty in 2021 and Swiatek last year.

Ons Jabeur

Jabeur won the clay-court event in Charleston, topping top-11 players Daria Kasatkina and Belinda Bencic in challenging straight-set matches.

Jabeur (+1200) started 2023 going 4-4 with one win against a top-50 player. After a first-round exit in Roland Garros in 2022, she is looking for different results on the clay courts this time around.

Caroline Garcia

One of the busiest players on tour, Garcia (+2200) reached the finals in Lyon and Monterey. Garcia did not face a top-30 ranked player in either of those events and the degree of difficulty will increase in this event.

Garcia ended 2022 with a win over Sabalenka to win WTA Finals and also reached the US Open semifinals. She is hoping some additional matches on clay will help her stick around a little longer at the French Open with second-round losses in three of the last four years. She did win the women’s doubles title at Roland Garros in 2022.

Coco Gauff

Since Lindsay Davenport won her third title in 2005, no American player has won the Stuttgart title and only one has reached the singles final so Gauff will look to reverse that trend.

Gauff (+1800) has advanced to the quarterfinals and finals in the last two French Opens so she has enjoyed success on the clay.

Gauff kicked off 2023 by winning in Auckland. However, she is 2-5 against top-30 players this year not including a walkover win against Rybakina in Dubai. Gauff lost in the first round in Stuttgart in 2022.

Elena Rybakina

Keep an eye on Rybakina (+1200) as she recently played her way to the title match in Miami after taking down No. 1 Swiatek and No. 2 Sabalenka to win at Indian Wells.

Rybakina won at Wimbledon and reached the finals at the Australian Open in two of her last three Grand Slams. Now she is looking to do the same in Roland Garros. She did make it to the 2021 quarterfinals before losing in the third round in 2022.

She had an entertaining three-set match against Paula Badosa in the Round of 16 at Stuttgart in 2022.

Daria Kasatkina

After quick exits from both Indian Wells and Miami, Kasatkina (+ 4000) stayed in the United States and reached the semifinals in Charleston.

Kasatkina went 7-3 in the French Open tune-up events in 2022. That set the stage for her to advance to the French Open semifinals without dropping a set. However, she runs into Swiatek, and that put an end to her championship dreams.

Maria Sakkari

Sakkari (+ 2800) had a strong showing in Indian Wells with three-set wins over three top-30-ranked players before falling to Sabalenka in the semifinals. She also reached the semifinals in Qatar and Linz.

Sakkari lost to No. 81 Karolina Muchova in the second round at the 2022 French Open and is looking to prepare herself for a better showing this year. She pulled out of the 2022 Stuttgart event during the tournament as a result of an illness.
