Backing Borralho to Fire Up Against Cannonier

Cannonier vs Borralho UFC Odds Show Value in Favorite

Caio Borralho, one of the more underrated fighters in the UFC, takes on Jarod Cannonier at UFC Fight Night this Saturday in Las Vegas.

Cannonier vs Borralho UFC odds have the Brazilian at -200 to win, so he’s being respected with betting markets.

He’s not talked about as much as other middleweight title contenders, but he could earn a shot at Dricus Du Plessis’s title early next year.

We have UFC Fight Night predictions for the main event at UFC Apex.

The Real Cannonier Needs to Deliver

Cannonier is still one of the more dangerous fighters in the middleweight division, but he’s quickly running out of time and chances.

The 40-year-old is one of only a few 40-plus fighters in the UFC, and after getting knocked out by Nassourine Imavov in June, bouncing back at his age will be tough.

It’s why he’s the +165 underdog with Cannonier vs Borralho UFC odds, and he needs to pull out all the stops.

This is likely his last chance at a title shot, but his record suggests he can pull off an upset.

Cannonier defeated Marvin Vettori in 2023 and future champion Sean Strickland in 2022. He also took Israel Adesanya to five rounds in a title fight in 2022, so the form is on the board.

However, fast forward to 2024, and the career of Cannonier could come to an abrupt end against Borralho, who has a bright future.

Before his fight against Imavov, he stated his want for the title.

“I plan on doing big things in there, as far as my performance goes, and staking my claim, I want the title — that’s what I want — and I want to make myself more known in that regard, more prevalent in the mind of these people that are gonna be scheduling these title fights.” Cannonier said.

He is a long way from getting a title shot, but beating Borralho on Saturday would inch him closer.

Borralho Brings Unbeaten UFC Record

Borralho has yet to lose since making his UFC debut, and we’re not surprised by the Cannonier vs Borralho UFC odds.

We priced his UFC odds around -250 for this crucial middleweight clash, and after beating Paul Craig with a second-round knockout, he’s in grand form.

The 31-year-old from Brazil hasn’t fought the same level of opponents as Cannonier, but the 16-1 fighter has been dodged by some of the best.

Showing good power and grappling skills, including a submission win over Michal Oleksiejczuk last year, he’s a well-rounded fighter.

Strickland advised Borralho that he needed a vocal corner. Nevertheless, Borralho is good enough to finish the fight before the judges’ scorecards come into play.

“I’m just gonna make sure I’m gonna have a good corner and just go there, pick my shots and keep my distance, do my game. I know I’m skilled enough to beat him. So I’m just gonna go there and do what I do best, win fights.” Borralho said.

UFC today is all about finding the best opportunities to strike, and with Cannonier not being as sharp, especially following a hefty KO loss, he could be too slow for Borralho.

We expect Borralho to remain unbeaten in the UFC, and eventually fight Du Plessis for the title in early 2025, provided Adesanya doesn’t get a rematch.

Borralho to Make Light Work of Cannonier

There is every reason to back Borralho in the main event, and we’re including the -200 odds in our UFC parlays.

He might not have the same experience as Cannonier, but he’s a fighter on the rise, and younger fighters typically have the edge in the UFC.

Cannonier vs Borralho UFC odds have him at short odds but there is enough value with the favorite. We priced him at shorter odds, so we’re snapping up the -200 price before money comes for him throughout the week.

We also expect it to go five rounds. Cannonier could fight more on the timid side, raising the possibility this goes the distance.

Borralho will be cautious to rush in and get caught with a right hand, so although that will make for a boring fight, it often happens with two title contenders.

Take Borralho to win by decision and the fight to go the distance, which pays healthier odds than his moneyline price.
