Grasso vs Araujo Betting Odds: Crowning Another Golden Girl?
Grasso or Araujo Will Emerge as New Title Contender
The UFC features another main event that could see the crowning of a new female star: Alexa Grasso fights Viviane Araujo in a women’s flyweight bout likely to decide the next challenger to Valentina Shevchenko’s belt. The Grasso vs Araujo betting odds favors the former as she is on a three-fight winning streak. But Araujo is the more explosive and powerful fighter here so we could be in for an intense fight with plenty of momentum shifts.

Will This be Grasso’s Moment?
Grasso should be able to outlast Araujo in a five-round fight. She has not fought in one yet but she consistently goes to three-round decisions and has looked stronger as the fight progresses. At 125 pounds, Grasso is 3-0 and has a first-round finish.
Like Mackenzie Dern, Alexa Grasso has been that women’s MMA star waiting to shine on the biggest stage. But unlike Dern, this will be Grasso’s first main event. The Mexican fighter has often been injured or her fights have fallen through. She’s fought just once a year in the UFC since 2018.
Still, when healthy, Grasso has the sharp boxing and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to take care of her opponents. The Grasso vs Araujo betting odds lean towards her not only because of her skills but because of her cardiovascular endurance. Grasso is fighting at 125 pounds where she does not have to drain herself as she did a division lower. She does not carry too much muscle so she won’t fatigue as fast as Araujo.

At 29 years old, Grasso has been on the UFC brass’s watchlist since she went unbeaten in Invicta in 2016. She got derailed a few times at strawweight but two of those losses look much better now as Carla Esparza is the champion and Tatiana Suarez is unbeaten and has finished Esparza herself.
The UFC odds constantly peg Grasso as a moderate favorite due to the hype around her. Now, she gets a chance to realize her potential by winning in the main event and finally fighting for UFC gold.
Araujo Emerges as Dark Horse Contender
Like Yan Xiaonan two weeks ago, Viviane Araujo enters this fight looking to play “spoiler.” Araujo is every much a contender as Yan but the Grasso vs Araujo betting odds makes her appear like she’s a step down from her counterpart. The fact of the matter is, Araujo has only lost once in her last four bouts… against Katlyn Chookagian, whose only two losses in the UFC have come against champions.
Araujo has almost all the traits to make for a champion; she can strike, has great grappling, and is strong and durable. Her Kryptonite will be her endurance. The Brazilian has a muscular frame and can get fatigued as the fight goes on. She also tends to exert plenty of effort early in the fight. She was beating Chookagian then lost her explosiveness and lost the decision.
But Araujo may have one thing over Grasso – her strength of the UFC schedule. As they say “steel sharpens steel”, Araujo is stronger because of the fighters she’s fought. She debuted at 135 pounds and knocked out Talita Bernardo. Then she fought the likes of Alexis Davis, Jessica Eye, and Roxanne Modafferi, all longtime veterans. She defeated Davis and Modafferi.
Still, Araujo remains underestimated. She debuted as a moderate underdog and won her last fight as a slight one. Being counted out is something the Brazilian is used to. If she can pull off this upset, she’ll get a chance to fight for a belt.
